Overview

IBM Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus® Domino™ and IBM Content Manager CommonStore for Exchange Server provide robust e-mail archiving capabilities allowing you to offload messages, notes, attachments, and folders while concurrently giving users direct access to archived items when needed. As a result, information handling is improved across the enterprise. Specific benefits include:

  • Increased user productivity: Documents and e-mails can be archived and retrieved within seconds and are immediately available even several years later.
  • Improved system performance: Moving old inactive documents to an external archive enables you to trim the size of your e-mail databases and to improve the performance of your Domino applications.
  • Higher document security: Documents are stored securely and safely in a central electronic archive where they are protected against unauthorized access and manipulation.
  • Less expensive storage: Optical jukeboxes and tape libraries allow you to store billions of documents on a single device that's less expensive than magnetic disk.

These new offerings provide attractive, entry-level pricing. Under these offerings, the Level A Suggested Volume Price (SVP) license:

  • For the server has been reduced
  • For the gateway has been reduced
  • For the user has been increased

This entry-level pricing, when combined with the separately available IBM Content Manager Entry Bundle, is more attractive to customers who need e-mail archiving capabilities for an organization of 850 or fewer users. The IBM Content Manager Entry Bundle provides the backend repositories needed — IBM Content Manager, IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms, and Tivoli® Storage Manager — to complement the CommonStore applications. The entry offering prices are available at all SVP levels; however, they may be less attractive for larger scale deployments.

Key Prerequisites

Description

Standard IBM Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus Domino or Exchange Server configurations require licenses for one or more servers, and licenses for all defined users who will archive and/or retrieve e-mail items. In addition, one or more Gateways are required to license Domino or Exchange Server anonymous users who access archived e-mail items.

IBM Content Manager E-mail Archive Entry Offerings archive e-mail items to either IBM Content Manager, IBM Content Manager OnDemand, or Tivoli Storage Manager. Either the IBM Content Manager Entry Bundle or Tivoli Storage Manager may be purchased separately for use as your backend repository.

Terms and Conditions

A standard IBM Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus® Domino™ or IBM Content Manager CommonStore for Exchange Server system requires licenses for one or more servers, and licenses for all users who will archive and/or retrieve items using the CommonStore applications. In addition, one or more Gateway features is required to license all anonymous users who may access archived items using the CommonStore applications.

The Entry Offering requires a minimum purchase of at least 100 User licenses.

The program servers, registered users, and gateway access charge units available under Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus Domino and Exchange Server are also available through the Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus Domino and Exchange Server Entry Offerings. However, licensees of the Entry Offerings must license these charge units through the terms and conditions of the Entry Offerings, and not through the standard product orderables. Standard and Entry Offering pricing may not be intermixed.

For example, if you have acquired the Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus Domino Entry Offering Server, you must license all of your registered users through the Entry Offering registered users charge unit. Conversely, if you have acquired standard Content Manager CommonStore for Lotus Domino, you must license all of your Servers and registered users through the standard product charge units (not Entry offering).
