Components and Benefits
IBM z/OS SCLM Suite consists of the following program products:
IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM is a browser-based, centralized SCM solution for the development and deployment of S/390-based e-business applications. IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM enables SCLM customers to use a common set of processes and a single change and configuration management solution to manage the:
IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM allows the storage of virtually any PC, UNIX, or AS/400 file format in SCLM including Java code, HTML files, Web-based applications, documents, and spreadsheets.
For Version 2, IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM has been enhanced to provide:
IBM Cloud 9 for Software Configuration and Library Manager (SCLM) for z/OS allows SCLM customers to use a common set of processes and a single Web-based change and configuration management solution to manage all of their e-business development. In today's environment, that means the development of new Web content and the enhancement of traditional applications to support the Web, as well as the development and maintenance of traditional applications.
IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM allows the storage of virtually any PC, UNIX, or AS/400 file format in SCLM, including Java code, HTML, documents, and spreadsheets as well as to traditional S/390 source modules and outputs. Application data continues to be stored in a centralized, secure environment on OS/390 or z/OS and can be easily accessed from anywhere using a browser. You no longer need to log on to ISPF to access SCLM, and no additional client-side software is required. For additional information on both IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM Version 1 and the IBM Breeze for SCLM Version 1, refer to Software Announcement 200-405 , dated November 14, 2000, and updated in Software Announcement 201-078 , dated March 27, 2001.
IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM for z/OS Version 2 has been enhanced with the following features:
A set of customized translators and language definitions are provided which allow Java code and other Web content to be stored in SCLM and then built and deployed on USS. When an SCLM build is requested from SCLM or IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM and Java components are included, the required source members are sent to USS, the OS/390, or z/OS USS Java compiler is invoked, and the resulting Java classes and listings are stored back into SCLM. The customized translators provide SCLM with the ability to build and deploy e-business applications which consist of both traditional and Web-content objects to USS. Additional samples are provided to support the remote build and deployment of applications to other non-S/390 environments. The remote builds and development can be standardized through the use of SCLM Translators. You can deploy source code and "make" files to a remote platform, compile the source code, then store the listings and generated executables under SCLM's control. A sample REXX program is provided allowing a "make" file to be executed on any remote file that runs an FTP server. The transmitted "make" file can perform any type of compile supported by a "make" on the target platform, such as C, C++, or Java. Output from the "make" program can be retransmitted to the originating platform.
The Batch Job Viewer allows users to access information about their JES2
batch jobs from a browser. Users can retrieve a list of jobs, view their
status (Active, Input, Output, or Hold queues) then View, Cancel, Hold,
Release, or Purge the jobs or the job output. All of these outputs can
be accessed from a browser without logging on to TSO from an emulator
session. Items can be selected at the same time and a separate browser
will be launched for each job selected.
These programs are EuroReady.
For more information on the implications of the euro, visit the IBM euro Web site at:
EuroReady Products: IBM considers an IBM product to be EuroReady if the product, when used in accordance with its associated documentation, is capable of correctly processing monetary data in the euro denomination and of respecting the euro currency formatting conventions (including the euro sign). This assumes that all other products (for example, hardware, software, and firmware) that are used with this product are also EuroReady. IBM hardware products that are EuroReady may or may not have an engraved euro sign key on their keyboards.
Currently, EuroReady status applies primarily to IBM products specific to the EMU countries. Products that are not specific to these countries are deemed to be "not ready" for euro unless otherwise stated in the product's country-specific specifications.
IBM Hardware Ready: IBM supplies certain IBM products which include third-party software (pre-loaded or not) and/or third-party attached hardware. In these instances, IBM is not in a position to assert that these third-party products are, in themselves, EuroReady.
Therefore, such IBM products will be designated as hardware ready.
EuroReady solutions must demonstrate the above by:
The euro capabilities of a EuroReady solution will be clearly identified as features of the solution specification, as described in the contracts document.
The IBM z/OS SCLM Suite, including IBM Cloud 9 for SCLM for z/OS Version 2, provides SCLM customers and application developers with a browser-based SCM solution supporting the management and automatic building of e-business applications containing objects such as HTML files, Java programs, S/390 objects, Web applications, documents and spreadsheets across the OS/390 or z/OS, Windows, UNIX, and AS/400 platforms.
Whether you are creating new applications or modifying existing applications, the need to manage the integration of e-business parts with traditional S/390 programs objects is a necessary part of building and deploying modern applications. The IBM z/OS SCLM Suite allows customers to leverage their significant investment made in their S/390-based applications. IBM's z/OS SCLM Suite is the best choice for an attractively priced and fully functional centralized S/390-based SCM solution for the management and development of S/390 e-business applications including S/390 objects, Java programs, HTML files, Web applications, documents, and spreadsheets. It is a particularly desirable solution for customers who have traditionally performed application development on S/390 and now need to extend their development to additional object types and additional development and target platforms.

The products in this announcement have one charge unit Value Units.
PoEs will be based on Value Units. Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged/interchanged/aggregated with Value Units of another product.
Value Units for a specified MSU capacity are determined by the following table. The price of a Value Unit varies depending on the product selected.
Translation from MSUs to Value Units Value MSUs Units/MSU Base 1-3 1.00 Tier A 4-45 .45 Tier B 46-175 .36 Tier C 176-315 .27 Tier D 316+ .20
The total number of Value Units is calculated according to the following example:
If the customer has installed 1000 MSUs the applicable Value Units would be:
3 * 1.00 + 42 * 0.45 + 130 * 0.36 + 140 * 0.27 + 685 * 0.20 = 244 Value Units
When you are calculating the total number of Value Units, round up the sum to the next integer.
Value Units for IBM 9672 Processors will be based upon the full capacity of these systems. This is applicable to all S/390®-based systems that are measured on MSU capacity. Information on MSU capacities can be found in the IBM System/370, System/390®, and zSeries Machine Exhibit Z125-3901.
Value Units for zSeries will be based upon full MSU capacity as defined in the Machine Exhibits.
Value Units for non-MSU-based S/390 Processors:
MP3000 Models H30 = 6.00 Value Units H50 = 8.00 Value Units H70 = 12.00 Value Units P/390, R/390, IBM 3006 = 2.00 Value Units
There will be a tool available that provides support for transforming the MSU-based capacities of S/390 Systems to new Value Units by calculating the applicable number of Value Units for a given number of MSUs. The person preparing for an order is required to use this tool to calculate the number of Value Units, based upon the number of MSUs (processor capacity). The configurator CFSW expects Value Units as configuration input.
