V3.1 of Tivoli® Manager for Domino is one of the most comprehensive and innovative solutions for managing Lotus® Domino in the distributed environment. Virtually every aspect of V3.1 is new from the prior releases of Tivoli Manager for Domino. The new auto-discovery function and pre-defined, server-based roles help enable more timely deployment and can provide a quicker return on investment.
Tivoli Manager for Domino V3.1 can manage all aspects of the Domino enterprise end-to-end, including backups and Service Level Agreements (SLAs); and it provides robust reports for the Domino environment, all from one tool. In addition, National Language Support is now provided in nine languages.
Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 has been repackaged for ease of ordering and it remains available for the OS/390® environment.
Key Features and Benefits of V3.1
V3.1 of Tivoli Manager for Domino has new and exciting functions that can lower total cost of ownership through feature enhancements that:
Planned Availability Date

End of Support
Based on the Tivoli end of support policy, Tivoli support for V2.2 of the distributed platform will be discontinued 12 months after planned availability of V3.1. Support for V2.2 of the OS/390 platform will not be discontinued.
The features and functions available in this new release are truly innovative and offer one of the most comprehensive solutions in the industry.
Ease of Installation and Deployment
A new auto-discovery function is incorporated to search and discover all of the Domino servers within the Domino directory without manual intervention. Establishing alerts and determining thresholds is simple due to server-based roles that determine key settings based on the "role" of your Domino server. Thus, the administrator's job can be made easier.
The most prominent operating systems for Domino are supported including Windows NT®, Windows® 2000, AS/400®, AIX®, and Sun Solaris. The new architecture helps allow the flexibility to design and upgrade to cross platform environments without limiting the scope of function of monitoring and reporting tools.
New Java Client Notes Administration Client "Look and Feel"
The design of the GUI is a key highlight. It is extremely intuitive and highly functional since it has the "look and feel" of the Lotus Notes® Administration Client. By invoking the interface from Lotus Notes, Netscape, or Internet Explorer browsers, the tabbed main view allows easy access to server status, graphs, reports, events, backup and restore controls, troubleshooting tools, and server configuration information. The operations perspective of the interface is outstanding as servers can be grouped by domain, hierarchy, Domino release, operating system, server status (up vs down), cluster, network, and monitor status. As you view your Domino infrastructure when a problem occurs, the ability to drill down and visualize the problem is right at your fingertips; thus, helping to prevent long outages.
Enhanced Probe Technology
These tools enable the Domino Administrator to measure and record application and server performance from an end user's point of view. These lightweight and highly configurable probes generate representative user transactions at scheduled intervals or on-the-fly while recording and reporting results. The information is well-suited for such activities as capacity planning and change management, and for assessing conformance with service level objectives.
Profile Management and Roles
The concept of profiles and server-based roles has been completely revised and enhanced. The role of a server is defined as the specific tasks and work that a Domino server performs. The roles are pre-defined, customizable, and re-usable for the number of servers of the small business to the largest enterprise; thus allowing quick deployment of monitors and thresholds with accuracy. Each role relates to a profile manager that defines the events and the monitoring data collected. Intensive testing and data analysis from some of the world's largest Domino deployments have allowed Tivoli to create the optimum monitoring parameters based on the role of the Domino server in your environment.
Enhanced Monitors and Tasks
Monitors and tasks provided include transactional logging, agent monitors, replication monitors, and advanced cluster member monitoring. The granularity of these monitors is incredible, right down to the specifics of a user's mail file so that detailed trend analysis, SLA reporting, and root cause analysis can be performed. The profile manager and the server-based roles enable correct monitors and tasks to be monitored based on the work that the server is performing.
Reporting and Graphing
Robust graphing and reporting is offered through both the Java-based interface and through the Tivoli Decision Support product. Generating text-based reports and amazing graphical reports via the Java-based interface is simple. The graphing and reporting navigational tree provides a view into the vast amount of data gathered to generate a comprehensive report that can be mapped to your specific SLAs. Regarding SLAs, this tool allows for removal of specific maintenance windows thus helping to ensure the data is accurate, while considering your planned outages.
For historical and trending data, Tivoli Decision Support provides the
optimal solution for gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support
decision making within an organization. Tivoli Decision Support provides
a view of how servers are performing, how much work the servers are
doing, ranking of servers by several metrics, and can provide the ability
to forecast when problems may occur.
This program is not impacted by euro currency.
