Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 for OS/390 has the capability to manage the largest Domino environments, monitoring the performance and availability of mission-critical Lotus Notes® applications.

  • Clustering support. Provides fail over and load balancing alerts and visibility for Domino clustering functions.
  • Partitioned server support. Supports monitoring of multiple partitions on a single S/390® server.
  • Full monitoring functionality. Provides enhanced Lotus Notes database monitoring.
  • Ability to quickly scan text-based logs for information vital to Domino performance.
  • Management of the mailbox database providing proactive alerts to potential problems.

Overview

Tivoli® Manager for Domino™ V2.2 for OS/390® is the most recent extension to the Tivoli portfolio of application management products for Domino. V2.2 provides the OS/390 Domino administrator a full range of monitoring and enhanced administration capabilities. The installation and implementation is accomplished via CDs and does not violate the integrity of security of your OS/390 based systems.

Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 provides full support for Domino R5.03 and higher including support for transaction logging, partitioned servers, and clustered servers. Utilizing the V2.2 tools, an administrator saves time and increases their productivity through their visibility to Access Control List (ACL) changes, and the ability to perform a quick scanning of Domino system logs. From one central tool, the administrator can take advantage of functions such as the ability to reroute dead mail from an easy to use and intuitive interface.

This new product release provides support for a full range of protocols including NNTP, POP3, and the SMTP MTA. In addition to monitoring these protocols, if your environment takes advantage of Domino Enterprise Connections Services (DECS) you can easily monitor the integrity of this service.

Utilizing Tivoli's in-depth reporting mechanisms you can view in depth reports and perform trend analysis. Monitoring and meeting Service Level Agreements becomes a breeze with the new Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2. as opposed to the previous labor-intensive tasks.

Description

Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 provides the following features and functions that make it extremely attractive to an IT manager or administrator of Domino on S/390:

  • Ease of installation via CDs (no tapes)
  • Domino server partitioning support
  • Monitoring support for POP3, SMTP MTA, NNTP, and HTTP protocols
  • Domino server clustering support
  • Restart server support including add-in tasks
  • Notes™ database characteristics monitoring of white space growth, database growth, and database access
  • Management of Notes database maintenance tasks such as running FIXUP and COMPACT
  • Security monitoring of Lotus Notes Access Control Lists and unsuccessful user login attempts
  • DECS (Domino Enterprise Connection Service) task monitoring
  • Parsing and transaction logging support
  • Mail.BOX management such as re-routing of dead mail

Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 is compatible with the following Tivoli products:

Hardware Requirements

OS/390 endpoint support by Tivoli Manager for Domino requires the OS/390 system to be capable of running V2.9, or later.

Software Requirements

Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 on OS/390 requires the following products or follow-on releases and fix levels:

Planning Information

Direct Customer Support: Direct customer support is provided by the Tivoli Support Center. This fee service enhances customers' productivity by providing voice and electronic access into the IBM support organization. The Tivoli Support Center will help answer questions pertaining to usage, and suspected software defects for eligible products.

Packaging: Tivoli Manager for Domino V2.2 is distributed with:

Security, Auditability, and Control

Tivoli Manager for Domino uses the security and auditability features of the operating system software and Tivoli Management Framework.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Ordering Information

Basic License: Current licensees

Current licensees of 5698-NOT who do not require OS/390 endpoint support do not need this release at this time. However, support for V2.1 will be discontinued 12 months after general availability of V2.2. Customers will receive instructions for obtaining the new release shortly after general availability of V2.2. Customers must ensure that they have previously ordered adequate Tivoli Management Points to add this product to the customer environment.

Current licensees of 5698-NOT requiring OS/390 endpoint support must order the appropriate distribution national language supply feature (58x8) via MES by specifying the feature number for the desired distribution medium.

If additional Tivoli Management Points are required for MSUs also specify the one-time charge (OTC) feature number for Tivoli Management Points and the quantity desired.

New Licensees

Customers not requiring OS/390 endpoint support need to order the appropriate national language supply feature (58x9) for distributed support.

Customers requiring OS/390 endpoint support also need to order the appropriate OS/390 national language supply feature (58x8).

Orders for new licenses will be accepted now.

Shipment will begin on the planned availability date.

Previously announced Tivoli Management Points and Systems Support are unaffected by this announcement.
