The IMS/ESA® Partition Support Product for MVS/ESA V2R2 (IMS Partition DB V2R2) extends IMS/ESA database capacity and helps improve database availability. IMS Partition DB V2R2 is transparent to DB application programs and their corresponding PSBs.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 extends the data storage capacity of existing HDAM and HIDAM databases from the current 4 GB to 128 GB. IMS Partition DB V2R2 allows a database to be separated into as many as 32 partitions, each having a 4 GB capacity. Now, full-function databases can be incrementally grown up to 128 GB.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 provides support for partitioned primary and secondary indexes, removing an inhibitor to realizing the full capacity value of database partitioning. IMS Partition DB V2R2 also provides support for partitioned SHISAM and HISAM root only databases.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 can help improve availability. With partitioned databases, partitions can be reorganized independently or in parallel, helping to reduce the time the database is unavailable.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 provides utilities supporting partitioned databases and partitioned primary and secondary indexes. IMS Partition DB V2R2 utilities include a number of usability enhancements, such as support for dynamic allocation.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 provides support for the IMS Version 7 environment.
Partition DB is designed to support the IMS Version 5, 6, and 7 operating environments.
IMS Partition DB V2R2 is designed to extend IMS/ESA database capacity and help improve database availability. IMS Partition DB V2R2 features include:
This program is not impacted by euro currency.
Hardware and Software Support Services
IBM SmoothStart or Installation Services will not be provided for the IMS Partition DB product.
Specified Operating Environment
IMS Partition DB operates with the following IMS versions and requires SMP/E Version 1 (5668-949) for installation.
Security, Auditability, and Control
The announced program uses the security and auditability features of the supported IMS and/or MVS systems. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
