A 2000 GB (2 TB), 5400 rpm SATA disk drive option is now available for the DCS9900 Model 3S1 SAS/SATA Storage Expansion Unit. The Model 3S1 Expansion Unit can accommodate up to 60 disk drives.
The new 2 TB SATA disk drive is designed to enable DCS9900 Storage System configurations using the Model 3S1 Storage Expansion Units to scale up to 1200 disks, with physical storage capacities that range up to 2400 TB.

Mandatory RPQ 8S0870
All orders for the DCS9900 Storage System, which includes the DCS9900 Controller Model CP2, DCS9900 Storage Expansion Units and features, must first be approved via the mandatory I-listed RPQ 8S0870. Ask your IBM representative how to order the I-listed RPQ. Refer to the Limitations section for details.

The DCS9900 2000 GB (2 TB)/5400 rpm SATA disk drive feature (#3204) is designed for use with the DCS9900 Model 3S1 SAS/SATA Storage Expansion Unit. Employing the 2 TB SATA disk drives in DCS9900 system configurations can enable the physical storage capacity to be doubled up to a maximum of 2400 TB.
The following are the currently available SAS and SATA disk drive features for the Model 3S1.
- 500 GB SATA disk drive (#3201)
- 750 GB SATA disk drive (#3202)
- 1000 GB SATA disk drive (#3203)
- 2000 GB SATA disk drive (#3204)
- 146 GB/15K SAS disk drive (#3231)
- 300 GB/15K SAS disk drive (#3232)
- 450 GB/15K SAS disk drive (#3233)

Limitations
All orders for the DCS9900 Storage System, which includes the DCS9900 Controller Model CP2 (1269-CP2), DCS9900 3S1 SAS/SATA Storage Expansion Unit (1269-3S1), and features must first be approved by ordering mandatory I-listed RPQ 8S0870. Contact your IBM representative to order the I-listed RPQ.
Planning information
You are responsible for downloading or obtaining from IBM, and installing designated Machine Code (microcode, basic input/output system code (called "BIOS"), utility programs, device drivers, and diagnostics delivered with an IBM machine) and other software updates in a timely manner from an IBM Internet Web site or from other electronic media, and following the instructions that IBM provides. You may request IBM to install Machine Code changes; however, you may be charged for that service.

Warranty period
One year.
If this feature is added to a 1269-3S1 without replacing a previously-installed feature, IBM provides the same base warranty as was announced for the 1269-3S1, for example, a 1-year warranty. The warranty starts on the feature's "Date of Installation". If this IBM feature replaces another IBM feature that was removed, it assumes the remaining warranty of the feature that was removed.
