The IBM® XIV Storage System Model A14 is now available in factory configurations with nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, or fourteen modules. These new configurations are field-upgradeable with one or more additional data modules, up to the maximum of fifteen total interface and data modules.
Additionally, the planned availability date for the Modem (feature number 9101), as announced in Hardware Announcement 109-124, dated February 10, 2009 (IBM XIV Storage System new ordering features and modem feature update), has changed. Refer to the Description section for more information.

| Key prerequisites |
|
The IBM XIV Storage System (2810-A14) requires an IBM XIV Storage System Software V10 license (Product ID 5639-XXA). The quantity of base XIV Storage System Software features must equal the total quantity of interface modules and data modules in the XIV Storage System.
Factory configurations with nine to fourteen modules require IBM XIV Storage System Software Version 10.0.1.b, or later.

Additional factory shipment configurations
The XIV Storage System Model A14 is now available in factory configurations with nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, or fourteen modules. These configurations are designed to support the same capabilities and functions as the six and fifteen module XIV Storage System configurations with the IBM XIV Storage System Software V10. These additional configurations have all of the same auxiliary components and ship in the same physical rack as the fifteen module system.
These new factory configurations are field-upgradeable with one or more additional data modules, up to the maximum of fifteen total interface and data modules.
The following table depicts the configurations supported on the XIV Storage System Model A14:

Modem planned availability date
The planned availability date for plant and field installation of the Modem (feature 9101) is changed to September 25, 2009, for the following countries:

- India
