| Overview |
The IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library consists of the IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library Model L5B (3576 Model L5B) and the IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library Model E9U (3576 Model E9U). The IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library is extremely modular, with physical scalability varying from the 5U Model L5B base library to an additional four Model E9U expansion units.
The TS3310 now supports the following new enhancements:
- An Advanced Reporting feature license key that enables the Drive Resource Utilization Reporting and Media Integrity Analysis Reporting functions. These user-configurable reporting functions provide graphical displays for both diagnostic and trend analysis data, designed to help evaluate tape drive, and media performance and drive utilization parameters. The Drive Resource Utilization Report can help you identify drives or groups of drives that are nearing 100% utilization. It will also help identify drive resources that are not being fully utilized and provide information necessary to determine if additional drives are necessary. The Media Integrity Report can help you measure and evaluate media and drive performance in the library.
- An Encryption Key Manager path diagnostic function to assist administrative users in the setup, configuration, or troubleshooting of Library Managed Encryption enabled libraries.

| Description |
The TS3310 Tape Library is an excellent choice, if you are:
- Experiencing growth in online storage requirements
- Considering a tape automation solution for your data storage needs
- Considering an Ultrium tape solution
The IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library is designed to offer high performance, capacity, and technology to help address the heavy demands of tape storage. The TS3310 Tape Library is highly modular with scalability varying from the base library 5U control module to additional expansion units of 9U height each.
This automated tape library incorporates high-performance IBM LTO Ultrium 4 or Ultrium 3 Tape Drives for the midrange to enterprise open systems environment. Tape cartridge physical capacity is up to 800 GB native physical capacity (1,600 GB with 2:1 compression) with the IBM LTO Ultrium 800 GB Data Cartridge (for use only with Ultrium 4 format drives), and drive performance is up to 120 MB/second native data transfer rate with the IBM System Storage LTO Ultrium 4 Tape Drives. IBM LTO Ultrium 4 Tape Drives can read and write LTO Ultrium 3 data cartridges and read LTO Ultrium 2 data cartridges. The LTO Ultrium 4 Tape Drives in the TS3310 Tape Library also support LTO Ultrium 4 WORM cartridges.
New enhancements to the TS3310 Tape Library include:
- An Advanced Reporting feature license key that enables the Drive Resource Utilization Reporting and Media Integrity Analysis Reporting functions. These user-configurable reporting features provide graphical displays for both diagnostic and trend analysis data designed to help evaluate tape drive, and media performance and drive utilization parameters. The Drive Resource Utilization Report can help you identify drives or groups of drives that are nearing 100% utilization. It will also identify drive resources that are not being fully utilized and provide information necessary to determine if additional drives are necessary. The Media Integrity Report can help you measure and evaluate media and drive performance in the library.
- An Encryption Key Manager path diagnostic function to assist administrative users in the setup, configuration, or troubleshooting of Library Managed Encryption enabled libraries. For information on how to install, configure, and use the Encryption Key Manager, refer to the IBM Encryption Key Manager component for the Java platform, Introduction, Planning and User's Guide GA76-0418, and the IBM Encryption Key Manager component for the Java platform, Quick Start Guide for LTO Ultrium 4, GA76-0420.
