The following features are available for the System Storage™ N series N3300 and N3600. Not all apply to all N series models. Refer to the Description section for details.

Feature descriptions
Adapters (N3600 only)
2-Port iSCSI Target Fi NIC (#1021): This Gigabit Ethernet iSCSI PCIe TCP/IP offload engine (TOE) feature provides two optical LC duplex connectors for connection to iSCSI hosts.
2-Port SCSI Ult320 HBA Tape (#1024): This feature provides one SCSI Ultra320 dual-channel host bus adapter (HBA) and is designed to support connection to a tape device. The adapter includes two 68-pin VHDCI external connectors (channel A and channel B). Two SCSI LVD 2-meter cables (for connecting to the tape device) are included. These cables have 68-pin VHDCI connectors on each end.
2-Port iSCSI Target CU NIC NIC (#1026): This Gigabit Ethernet iSCSI target PCIe adapter provides two Ethernet iSCSI ports to be configured as target connections for iSCSI hosts.
4-Port 4-Gbps FC HBA — Disk (#1029): This feature provides one PCIe quad-port 4-Gbps HBA for attaching disk expansion units (EXN1000, EXN2000, and EXN4000) to N series storage controller. This adapter auto-negotiates connections of 1-Gbps, 2-Gbps, or 4-Gbps. It has four small form factor pluggable (SFP) multimode optical ports with LC connectors that support the following cable lengths:

The ports of this adapter may not be used as FCP target ports.
Note: This feature requires Data ONTAP V7.2.2L1, or later.
SATA disk drives
In addition to the previously available SAS disk drives, IBM System Storage N series N3300 and N3600 Model A10 and Model A20 also support the following SATA disk drive features:
- 500 GB SATA Drive (#4018)
- 750 GB SATA Drive (#4019)
- 1 TB SATA Drive (#4020)
Feature #4018, #4019, and #4020 require Data ONTAP 7.2.4L1, or later.
The following table describes the maximum supported total physical storage capacity internal to the N3300 and N3600.

Licensed function indicators
SnapManager SharePoint-Filer: This feature enables the SnapManager SharePoint-Filer licensed function after you apply a feature activation code that is made available by IBM. IBM SnapManager for Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server (SMMOSS) is designed to enable a single console to manage disk-based backup and recovery of SharePoint content databases, portals, sites, sub-sites, folders, documents, and versions of documents. Deployed in combination with an N series storage system, SnapManager software is designed to provide near-instantaneous hot backups and rapid restores to help you achieve a combination of availability, scalability, performance, and reliability for SharePoint environments.
This feature is designed to allow connectivity of any number of Microsoft Office SharePoint servers to one N series storage system. It is also used for maintenance billing purposes.
You must purchase the corequisite 2870 feature to establish authorization for use of the SnapManager SharePoint licensed function before the feature activation code is provided by IBM.
SnapManager for SharePoint-Host (#8147): This feature enables the SnapManager SharePoint-Host licensed function after you apply a feature activation code that is made available by IBM. IBM SMMOSS is designed to enable a single console to manage disk-based backup and recovery of SharePoint content databases, portals, sites, sub-sites, folders, documents, and versions of documents. Deployed in combination with an N series storage system, SnapManager software is designed to provide near-instantaneous hot backups and rapid restores to help you achieve a combination of availability, scalability, performance, and reliability for SharePoint environments.
This feature is designed to allow connectivity to a single Microsoft Office SharePoint CPU to one N series storage system. It is also used for maintenance billing purposes.
You must purchase the corequisite 2870 feature to establish authorization for use of the SnapManager SharePoint licensed function before the feature activation code is provided by IBM.
SnapManager/SharePoint-Media Kit (#8148): This feature provides the physical media kit for SnapManager for SharePoint-Host and Filer. Only one media kit is needed for a single SnapManager for SharePoint license. You may order more than one, but a single kit may be installed on multiple hosts or storage controllers.
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
The IBM System Storage N3300 and IBM System Storage N3600 are capable, as of March 7, 2008, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. Hardware requirements
Licensed machine code (LMC):
The N series N3300 and N3600 require LMC level 7.2.2L1, or later. Some N series features and functions may not be available or supported in all environments. For current information on supported environments, prerequisites, and minimum operating systems levels, visit
Current license terms for the machine code provided with this product prohibit transfer of the machine code without approval from Network Appliance.
Licensed functions:
The following licensed functions are required on N series systems:
- Data ONTAP
- CFO (A20 models only)
Licensed functions require the selection of N series licensed function features and the acquisition of the corresponding IBM 2870 function authorization features.
Limitations: The N3600 has only one adapter slot per controller; only one adapter feature can be installed in Model A10, two in Model A20.
Planning information
You are responsible for downloading or obtaining from IBM, and installing designated Machine Code (microcode, basic input/output system code (called "BIOS"), utility programs, device drivers, and diagnostics delivered with an IBM machine) and other software updates in a timely manner from an IBM Internet Web site or from other electronic media, and following the instructions that IBM provides. You may request IBM to install Machine Code changes; however, you may be charged for that service.

These features use the security and auditability features of host hardware, host software, and/or application software to which it is attached.
The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features,
administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications
