Overview
Bottom rule

Creating documents and keeping them up-to-date can be time consuming and error prone. Documents can even become obsolete by the time you have finished writing them. Despite this, documents are the preferred and most effective way to communicate information across disciplines, both internally and across contractual boundaries.

IBM Rational Publishing Engine automates document generation from disparate applications to help improve efficiency and process maturity, and reduce the effort to meet internal, customer, or regulatory requirements for deliverable documentation. It automates document creation for many purposes including ad-hoc use, formal reviews, contractual obligations, or standards compliance.

Version 1.1.2 provides increased scalability and robustness, enhanced support for distributed environments, and increased performance and usability through developments in template formatting and handling. This new release also delivers migration utilities that facilitate migration from IBM Rational SODA and DocExpress products.

With IBM Rational Publishing Engine you can enhance your team's productivity and achieve a much higher return on investment because you spend less time on the tedious and manual tasks of creating documents and keeping them up to date. Instead, you can focus on your primary business objectives.

Authorized User

Authorized User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. An Authorized User is an individual (named or unnamed) within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on one or more computers or servers and accessed by the number of users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Authorized User accessing the program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.

Floating User

Floating User is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A Floating User is a person who is accessing the program at any particular point in time. An Install is an installed copy of the program on a physical or virtual disk made available to be executed on a computer. The program may be installed on any number of computers or servers, but if the Floating User simultaneously accesses more than one Install of the program, the Floating User requires a separate entitlement for each such Install. Licensee must obtain separate entitlements for each Floating User simultaneously accessing the program on each Install in any manner directly or indirectly (for example: via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.

Note: Some programs may be licensed where devices are considered users. In that case the following applies: Any computing device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from the program or that is otherwise managed by the program is considered a separate User of the program and requires an entitlement as if that device were a person.
