Description
Bottom rule

IBM Real-Time Asset Locator for Healthcare delivers industry-specific content to help healthcare providers improve asset management capabilities by tracking and monitoring asset location and status in real time. In addition, organizations can leverage patient and personnel tracking to provide visibility into work flow and patient flow, and gain insight to enhance business processes. This add-on feature for Real-Time Asset Locator and Maximo Asset Management provides a set of use cases, reports, and metrics that build on the capabilities of the base offerings.

End-to-end processes start with the sensor events and the filtering and correlation of those events to recognize actionable situations. Next, these situations are reported to Maximo Asset Management, where the appropriate action is automatically triggered. Then, a workflow, work order, or escalation directs the appropriate personnel to respond to and correct the situation. Finally, new sensor events can detect that the situation has been corrected and automatically close out the process.

Real-Time Asset Locator for Healthcare supports the following automated processes:

  • Sanitation workflows triggered by a button press on an asset or room tag to help streamline asset sanitation processes
  • Asset sanitation workflow driven by asset relocation to sanitation zone to help minimize asset downtime and improve asset utilization
  • Monitoring of minimum and maximum asset levels by zone to ensure equipment is available when needed
  • Monitoring of idle assets to alert for unused assets that need to be checked and put back into inventory
  • Zone violation alerts for assets or patients moving into restricted areas or out of assigned areas to reduce asset loss and help improve patient safety

These comprehensive processes deliver automated sense and respond capabilities that provide a history of events, conditions, responses, and responsible parties to improve accountability and auditability of processes. Further, they allow customers to standardize processes and best practices, and benchmark them between departments and track performance over time.

Reports and metrics complement the use cases with views of events and data collected in the course of asset use and the supporting processes. Reports provide historical views of asset use and processes, while metrics provide summary views of key performance indicators. Together, they provide performance summaries and the tools to drill down to gain insight into performance successes and failures.

Real-Time Asset Locator for Healthcare provides the following reports and metrics:

  • Asset Utilization Graph shows a graphical summary of asset usage by asset class and provides the ability to drill down into specific entries for closer inspection of utilization across that asset class.
  • Asset Utilization Report shows a tabular summary of asset utilization, outlining information on total operating, available, and downtime durations (in hours and percentage of scheduled asset usage) for the specific site, asset class, or asset.
  • Asset Downtime History Graph shows a graphical summary of downtime per asset class (in hours), while providing the ability to drill down into specific asset class for detailed analysis.
  • Asset Sanitation Reports detail asset sanitation cycles by asset or asset class in graphical, tabular, and summary formats.
  • Work Order History Report provides the details to analyze and recognize trends relating to idle asset, par level, or asset zone violations.
  • Key performance indicators for each of the use cases provide a graphical summary view of current assets and their supporting processes.

Real-Time Asset Locator for Healthcare helps organizations operate more efficiently through real-time asset visibility. Using Real-Time Asset Locator for Healthcare, you can

  • Easily locate assets for preventative maintenance, recalls, warranty claims, and lease management.
  • Balance® asset inventory levels across locations
  • Eliminate hoarding
  • Reduce asset loss
  • Avoid over-procurement and excessive rental charges

Definitions

Asset is any tangible resource or item of value to be managed, including production equipment, facilities, transportation, IT hardware and software. Licensee must obtain entitlements for the total number of assets accessed or managed by the program.

Resource Value Unit

Resource Value Unit (RVU) is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. RVU Proofs of Entitlement are based on the number of units of a specific resource used or managed by the program. Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of RVUs required for Licensee's environment for the specific resources as specified in the table above. RVU entitlements are specific to the program and the type of resource and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program or resource. Refer to the program-specific Resource Value Unit table.

Notes:

  • Some programs may require licenses for the resources available to and the resources being managed by the program. In that case, the following applies: In addition to the entitlements required for the resources used by the program directly, Licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the resources managed by the program.
  • Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies: Instead of the entitlements required for the resources used by the program directly, Licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the resources managed by the program.
