A new high-speed, higher-capacity, 4 Gbps, 450 GB/15,000 rpm Fibre Channel
(FC) disk drive feature is available for selected models of the IBM® System Storagetm DS4000tm series:
- 4 Gbps, 450 GB/15,000 rpm FC Enhanced Disk Drive Module (E-DDM)(#5416):
- Available for DS4700 Express Models
- Available for DS4000 EXP810 Storage Expansion Units
- Plant-installed only, 16-Pack of 4 Gbps, 450 GB/15,000 rpm FC Enhanced
Disk Drive Modules (E-DDM)(#5436):
- Available for EXP810 Storage Expansion Units
- Populates all 16 drive bays in the EXP810

Limitations
DS4000 Storage
Manager V9.23, or later, and controller firmware version 06.23, or later,
are requirements to support the 450 GB/15,000 rpm FC E-DDM features (#5416
and #5436).
NEBS-3 compliance certification for the 4 Gbps, 450 GB/15,000 rpm FC E-DDM
(#5416) is planned for October 2008 completion.

Planning information
You are responsible for downloading or obtaining from IBM, and installing
designated Machine Code (microcode, basic input/output system code (called
"BIOS"), utility programs, device drivers, and diagnostics delivered with
an IBM machine)
and other software updates in a timely manner from an IBM Internet Web site or from other electronic
media, and following the instructions that IBM provides. You may request IBM to install
Machine Code changes; however, you may be charged for that service.
