Description

Keyed Stamped Media

A simplified software delivery method is used for V4R4, delivered with all OS/400 software orders, a set of CDs containing 13 of the most popular AS/400 products and 15 associated features. You will receive a software license key for each of the 13 products and features you order. You may evaluate any of the non-ordered products/features on the keyed stamped media. At the end of the 70-day evaluation period, the product/feature will be disabled if you have not contacted your IBM representative or Business Partner to order the product/feature and receive a software license key.

The software license key is an 18-digit authorization code that allows the software product/feature on the keyed stamped media to be used on a specified AS/400 system. A new software license key is needed to authorize the software to work if it is:

  • Moved to a different AS/400 system
  • Upgraded to a higher processor group on the current system
    or
  • Upgraded to a new version/release/modification level

Any of the software products you order except the ones on the keyed stamped media CDs will be shipped on a separate CD.

Change of Terms for Selected V4R4 Products

Backup Recovery and Media Services (BRMS) changes pricing structure for its V4R4 product from user-based pricing to a one-time charge structure.

With the change to IPLA terms for selected V4R4 products, you gain the option of transferring products inside or outside your enterprise, worldwide. Customers within an enterprise can transfer users of a user-based IPLA program among multiple enterprise machines; transfers of users outside of an enterprise must be in the quantities represented by a single PoE or invoiced amount if a Proof of Entitlement (PoE) was not sent by IBM. Each IPLA product includes a PoE, License Information Document (LID), and International Program License Agreement (IPLA) (Z125-3301). Products that require a software license key also include a Software License Key Sheet.

  • The IPLA provides the general license agreement terms and conditions.
  • The LID provides the specific additional terms and conditions that apply to the product itself.
  • The PoE defines specific product user restrictions and a physical, transferable, customer entitlement.
  • The Software License Key Sheet provides an 18 digit use key for ordered software usage restrictions. The software usage restrictions are also printed on the Software License Key Sheet.

In the event the original customer transfers or sells the software license, the IPLA, LID, Software License Key Sheet, and PoE must accompany the transferred product to the new owner/machine. IBM licenses the other party when that party accepts the program's license terms by initial use of the program. The original license is then terminated.

The PoE and the Software License Key Sheet (if applicable) are required for any order for product version/release upgrades. For IPLA products, PoE is represented by the product PoE, with its associated usage restrictions. Transfer support for keyed products requires the Software License Key Sheet be transferred with the product.

This change of license applies to selected products on all previous Version 4 releases in addition to V4R4. The following selected licensed products are now licensed under IPLA terms.

IBM Software Subscription for AS/400

Entitlement to Future Updates: V4 customers must have a current IBM Software Subscription for AS/400 contract to be eligible to receive software updates. V4 customers with a current Software Subscription contract can receive, at no additional charge, release and version updates that occur during the subscription period to their licensed 5769-XXX and 5798-XXX programs included in the Software Subscription Eligible Products List. V4 customers without Software Subscription are not entitled to receive updates. Customers who license 5716-XXX programs on a V4 system must pay a version upgrade charge when upgrading the license to a 5769-XXX program.

These programs/features are processor-based and require a new software license key when the processor group of their AS/400 system is upgraded to a higher processor group.

The above products require a software license key that is comprised of the following characteristics:

  • Product identification (that is, 5769-SS1)
  • Version release modification (VRM) level (that is, V4R4)
  • Install Code ID used for product installation (not ordering feature number). This differentiates a base program (5050) from a feature (#5101).
  • Hardware serial number (that is, 10-12345)
  • Processor group (that is, P50)
  • 18-character key

Any time the VRM, processor group or hardware serial number changes, a new software license key is required.

Security, Auditability, and Control

The announced programs use the security and auditability features of the OS/400 operating system.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Ordering Information

Orders Generating Software License Keys: Beginning with V4R4, software orders generated in the following situations will generate a software license key if ordered against the correct AS/400 CPU serial number:

  • New system — software preloaded
  • New system — software not preloaded
  • Additional software licenses
  • Version/Release upgrades
  • Processor group-to-group upgrades

Note: Orders placed near the end of the 70-day evaluation period may request a 20-day temporary key to allow time for the regular key to arrive.

New Software Orders

Preloaded orders will have the software and the software license keys preloaded for the ordered software. Keyed Stamped Media and individual software, Proof of Entitlement (PoE), License Information Document (LID), and Software License Key Sheet are shipped separately from the program library.

Customers ordering software that is not preloaded will receive the Keyed Stamped Media on CD-ROMs and individual CD-ROMs containing any additional software ordered that is not on the keyed stamped media set. The LIDs, PoE, International Program License Agreement (IPLA) license, and Software License Key Sheet will be included with the software order. The install instructions for the software product and software license keys are included. If a key cannot be shipped with the software order, a notice will be sent explaining where you can call for the software license key.

Important Note: You will need to retain the IPLA license, LIDs, PoE, and Software License Key Sheet as these items need to be included with the software products if ownership is transferred.

V4R4 Upgrade Orders from V4R1, V4R2, or V4R3

The Software subscription and PoE are necessary to obtain the upgrade order.

You will receive the Keyed Stamped Media on CD-ROMs and an individual CD-ROM containing any additional software ordered. The software license keys and Software License Key Sheet will be shipped with the software order. The install instruction for the software product and software license keys are included.

Transfer of Hardware and Software

Transfers of hardware and software together does not require new software license keys.

Software Transfers to Different CPU Serial Number

  • Transferred-to user must receive PoE, LID, IPLA, and Software License Key Sheet (if applicable) from the transferred-from user.
  • Transferred-to user runs Software Inventory Tool (QSFWINV) on the transferred-to AS/400 system. This tool will be available via PTF.
  • If the transferred-to AS/400 system processor is in a higher processor group than the transferred-from system, the transferred-to user must contact the appropriate IBM representative or Business Partner to process a processor group upgrade order.
  • If the transferred-to AS/400 system processor is in the same or lower processor group than transferred-from system, the transferred-to user contacts the country key center to obtain a new Software License Key.
  • The country key center requests a fax of the Software License Key Sheet.
  • Verification of Software License Key Sheet and PoE is performed.
  • Upon verification, the software license key is created and sent to customer as requested (e-mail, fax).

Lost Software License Keys

If you lose a key or require a replacement of your software license key, call your country key center to obtain your software license key.

Emergency Software License Key

  • Invalid or incorrect software license key received for your secured product
  • Missing or lost keys

Contact the country key center.

You may receive a temporary key (will activate software for up to 20 days) by phone/fax/e-mail/Web delivery. A request for a permanent software license key will be handled during normal business hours by contacting your IBM representative or Business Partner to obtain the permanent key.

Processor-Priced Offering

Client Access (5769-XW1 and 5769-XY1) and OV/400 (5769-WP1): New features are added to Client Access Family, Client Access Family for Windows, and OfficeVision/400™ to allow simple ordering of these products. These feature numbers are in addition to the user-based features that currently exist for these programs. These products now have a user-based pricing structure and a processor-based pricing structure. The processor-based pricing structure replaces the maximum order quantities that were previously announced for these products. New customers and customers upgrading from prior versions can now choose to purchase users of these products or purchase the processor-based options. Customers who acquire the processor-based option are not subject to user charges and are licensed to use these products on AS/400 hardware in the Software Machine Group (P05-P50) selected. If a hardware upgrade results in a customer (who has purchased the processor-based features) moving to a higher processor group, the group-to-group, processor-based feature charge applies.

Upgrade pricing from prior versions of these products is consistent with past terms and conditions. Version 2 and 3 customers continue to be entitled to an upgrade price on users up to the maximum order quantity of their Version 3 Software Machine Group. Customers upgrading from Version 2 and 3 can order users of the Version 4 product or order the processor-based upgrade charge for their Version 2 or 3 Software Machine Group. This structure applies retroactively to V4R1/2/3. The following changes affect these three programs; 5769-XW1, 5769-XY1, and 5769-WP1:

  • The processor-based option affects all V4 releases of these programs.
  • Customers of new V4 licenses or V2/V3 upgrades to V4 have the choice of the user-based or processor-based options.
  • Once at the Version 4 pricing structure, the structure must remain as user-based or processor-based for that license, unless a customer with the user-based option is upgrading to a higher processor. These customers can remain user-based or choose to purchase the processor-based option of their new group.
  • There are no maximum user quantities that apply to the user-based option.
  • Customers should decide their current and future needs in selecting which option they want.
  • Customers within an enterprise can transfer users among multiple enterprise machines; transfers of users outside of an enterprise must be in the quantities represented by a single PoE or invoiced amount if a PoE was not sent.

Terms and Conditions

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement. PoE are required for all authorized use.

Limited Warranty Applies: Yes

Program Services: Refer to individual product announcements for the program services expiration date.

Money-back Guarantee: Two-month, money-back guarantee

Copy and Use on Home/Portable Computer: No

Usage Restriction: Yes

IPLA Terms and Conditions: The major effect of having IPLA terms and conditions for all 5769-xxx and selected other AS/400 software programs is that the licenses will be transferable to systems inside or outside the customer's enterprise. When an AS/400 itself is sold outside the enterprise worldwide, the applicable IPLA licenses can transfer with the AS/400 if the parties involved want them to.

The IPLA provides a nonexclusive license to use a software product on only one machine at a time. A copy is permitted to be made for backup purposes and the owner of the product license has the right to transfer program rights under the agreement to another party. If the program is transferred, the applicable PoE, LID, and IPLA must accompany the program transfer. Products requiring a software license key require the transfer of the Software License Key Sheet. The transfer of the original licensees rights to a new owner terminates the original owner's license rights under the PoE. Once transferred, higher group licensing and/or additional users, if required, must be purchased.

A PoE, LID, and the IPLA are shipped with each IPLA program. Products that require a software license key also include the Software License Key Sheet in the shipment.

The PoE serves as the transferable evidence of product license with usage restrictions noted on the PoE or the original purchaser's invoice. The PoE is evidence of the owner's authorization to use the program and for the customer's eligibility for any version and release updates under Software Subscription for AS/400, warranty services, and potential special or promotional opportunities (if announced).

The LID provides specific license information for each product. The specific license information can include additional license restrictions beyond those included in the IPLA. If so, these license restrictions can replace or modify the terms of Part 1 of the IPLA.

Logical Partition (LPAR): Software licensing and pricing for IBM software products on an AS/400 running multiple partitions in a LPAR environment remains largely unchanged from current AS/400 licensing and pricing policies. Processor-based products running in a LPAR environment will be priced according to the Software Machine Group of the underlying AS/400 hardware model. Once a customer purchases a processor-based one-time charge (OTC) IBM software product on an AS/400 using LPAR, that product is licensed to run simultaneously in any or all of the partitions that exist on that AS/400. IBM user-based products will be priced based on the total number of users running across all partitions of an AS/400 machine.

Software License Management (SLM) functions that currently exist in OS/400 are available in an LPAR environment to support the various pricing models that AS/400 ISV's typically use to license their products on an AS/400. In the initial V4R4 release of LPAR, SLM will be able to count users within individual partitions, but will not be able to determine the sum of users automatically across multiple partitions of an AS/400 using LPAR.

User Definition for Private Address Space Environment (PASE) Text: One user license of PASE is required for each logical partition running this option of OS/400.
