Overview

Tivoli announces additional support features for extended agents for Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems and upgrade paths to Tivoli Workload Scheduler.

Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro provide a fully scalable, secure environment with a rich set of features initiating jobs and schedules in a fault tolerant environment.

For information on previously available functions for Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems, refer to Software Announcement 298-071 dated February 24, 1998.

What's new in this announcement:

  • Extended Agents now offer standard (normal business hours) support along with extended (7 days x 24 hours) support.

  • Upgrades paths from Tivoli's Job Scheduler (5697-JSC) and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems (5697-MAE) to Tivoli Workload Scheduler are now available.



Intended Customers

This change to the product affects customers who:

  • Have purchased or will purchase Workload Scheduler or Unison Maestro Extended Agents with 7 day, 24 hour support (extended) and would like normal business hour support (standard) only.

  • Are currently running Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems or Tivoli Job Scheduler (5697-JSC) and would like to upgrade to the Tivoli integrated product, Tivoli Workload Scheduler.

When used in accordance with its associated documentation, it is capable of correctly processing, providing, and/or receiving date data within and between the 20th and 21st centuries, provided all other products (for example, software, hardware, and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it.



PRODUCT POSITIONING

Tivoli now offers on Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems support consistent with other Tivoli products, both standard (normal business hours) and extended (7 days X 24 hours).

Tivoli also defines upgrade paths for customers running Tivoli Job Scheduler (5697-JSC) and the standalone product, Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems to Tivoli Workload Scheduler

ORDERING INFORMATION

This Ordering Information replaces the instructions from Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems Software Announcement 298-071 dated February 24, 1998.



New Licensees

Orders for new licenses will be accepted now. Shipments will begin on the planned availability date.

New users of Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems should specify:

Basic License: To order a basic license, specify the program number, feature number 9001 for asset registration, and the feature number of the desired distribution medium. Also, specify the one-time charge feature number from the table(s) below in the quantity desired (maximum 250 per feature number per order).

Special Ordering Notes: Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems and Tivoli Workload Scheduler are installed in terms of Masters and Fault Tolerant Agents. A Master is a program that operate on a single processing unit and creates and processes job schedules. A Master can manage every processor and agent throughout an enterprise. A Fault Tolerant Agent is a program that operates on a single processing unit and provides job processing capability only. It must be connected to a Master on the enterprise network and it provides fail-safe job processing capability to its Master.

A FTA license is required for every non-Master processing unit. In the case of a SP (TM) (cluster) machine, a FTA is required on the controlling unit (node) only where the operating system is installed. FTA is not necessary on the other non-controlling processors under each node in a SP machine.

For example, Customer A wishes to install Workload Scheduler (5697-WKB) on 2 computer systems, each having 4 processing units. The first computer would have 1 processor licensed as a Master (required) and 3 processors licensed as FTA's. The second computer would have 4 processors licensed as FTA's. These computer systems can be either UNIX (R) or NT based. These are not SP machines.

Customer B wishes to install Unison Maestro (5697-MAE) on 2 Computer systems with 4 processors on each, one is NT based, the other is UNIX based. There are different prices for Masters and Fault Tolerant Agents for Unison Maestro, so the customer chooses that the UNIX based computer will contain the Master and orders the appropriate UNIX based feature for 1 Master and 3 FTA's. The customer orders 4 NT based FTA's for the second computer.

Customer C wishes to install Unison Maestro (5697-MAE) on 2 computer systems with 4 processors on each, both are NT based. The customer orders 1 NT based Master and 7 NT based FTA's.

Customer D has 1 SP machine with 4 nodes and "8-WAY" processors on each node. There is 1 machine, 4 nodes, 32 processors. 1 Master is required and 3 FTA to cover the 4 nodes. FTAs are not required for the non-controlling processors that are under each node. Operating systems and FTAs are required for the nodes only.

Extended Agents are programs that link the Unison Maestro and Workload Scheduler environment to other applications. For example, the MAE-Extended Agent for SAP R/3 links Unison Maestro to SAP R/3 thereby enabling Unison Maestro to manage a SAP R/3 application. If desired, an extended agent must be ordered for each environment managed. If there are 2 SAP R/3 environments to manage, then the SAP R/3 extended agent feature number must be ordered in the quantity of two.

Note: Upgrade Feature numbers 0602 through 0609 are no charge features. There is a charge for 0601, upgrade Master from 5697-MAE to 5697-WKB.

Tivoli Support: Support must be ordered through Program number 5697-SPT. During the first year of a license, even though support is included in base program fee, a no charge order must be placed by specifying feature number 9001 for asset registration and by specifying the First Year Standard Support -- No Charge feature number. Orders under 5697-SPT generate entitlement records worldwide. If an order under 5697-SPT is not placed, a customer will not be entitled to support during the first year of a license.

Customers are notified prior to the end of the initial support period. The first year support feature numbers will then be converted to feature numbers for annual support billing at the same level of support elected during the initial support period unless the customer notifies IBM that they want to discontinue support. Once subsequent year feature numbers are in place, charges are automatically renewed annually unless support is cancelled by the customer.

Select from the feature numbers from the tables below.

Tivoli pricing offers easy support. The following support options are available:

  • Standard -- which provides customer support during normal business hours

  • Extended -- which provides customer support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
If an upgrade to Extended Support is desired at initial order of a license and during the first 12 months of a license or if Support is desired after the first 12 months of a license, specify the applicable feature numbers from the tables below.

Standard Annual Support Option: The following support will be provided for a period of 12 months after the first installation of the Tivoli product; and thereafter, if the customer subscribes to the Standard Annual Support Option:

  • Corrections (PTFs) that fix substantial deviations of unmodified Tivoli products from the then-current code, publications, and/or informal documentation (that is, release notes and memos)

  • Software product updates that are improvements, extensions, and other changes which IBM, at its discretion, deems to be reasonable

  • Technical support that provides support via telephone, fax, e-mail during normal IBM business hours in the customer's locality from Monday through Friday, except local holidays, and supplies work-arounds for problems (where known), answers questions, and provides patches where they exist, and supplies to the customer a reasonable amount of assistance by mail or telephone in the event of difficulties in the use of, or the interpretation of, results from a Tivoli product.
Extended Annual Support Option: The Extended Annual Support Option includes and extends the support services provided in the Standard Annual Support Option to include technical support via telephone 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. When a customer is notified about the upcoming termination of the initial no-charge support period, the customer may choose to acquire this option for subsequent years. A MES order must be entered for the Tivoli product's charges using the applicable feature numbers from the tables below. Once subsequent-year support is ordered, charges will automatically renew annually unless this option is cancelled by the customer.

Extended Support Upgrade: During the first year of a license, the customer can upgrade to the Extended Support Option by ordering the applicable one-time charge (OTC) feature numbers from the tables below. The OTC feature numbers may be specified on the initial order or later via MES during the first year only. Ordering the OTC feature numbers will not result in an extension of the initial annual support period.

In subsequent years, if a customer has acquired the Standard Annual Support Option and then wants to upgrade to the Extended Annual Support Option, an MES order must be entered to discontinue the Standard Annual Support Option feature numbers and to add the Extended Annual Support Option feature numbers. This will start a new annual support period under the Extended Annual Support Option.

During the first 12 months of a Unison Maestro from Tivoli Systems license with extended support in effect, customers who upgrade such licenses to Tivoli Workload Scheduler can also acquire "first year" extended support for Tivoli Workload Scheduler at no charge by specifying the applicable standard to extended support upgrade feature numbers from the table below.
