TECHNICAL INFORMATION
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
NRF and NTO operate on the IBM 3745 Communication Controller.
EP operates on a channel-attached IBM 3745 Communication
Controller. EP also requires data streaming channel adapters (CADs)
and connection to the byte multiplexer channel.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS
o ACF/NCP Version 7 Release 1 (5648-063) is required to operate
these programs.
o ACF/SSP Version 4 Release 1 (5655-041 for MVS; 5654-009 for VM;
5686-064 for VSE*) is required to generate these programs.
FOR NRF RELEASE 9 ONLY, ACF/VTAM (TM) Version 3 Release 3, or higher,
is required to enable the multiple sessions for NRF logical units
function.
* No VSE version of Network Routing Facility Release 9.
PLANNING INFORMATION
PACKAGING: Each of these programs will be shipped either on a single
magnetic tape reel (1600 or 6250 bpi) or a 3480 tape cartridge.
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY AND CONTROL
These programs use the security and auditability features of
the host access method.
User management is responsible for evaluation, selection and
implementation of security features, administrative procedures and
appropriate controls in application systems and communication
facilities.
ORDERING INFORMATION
CURRENT LICENSEES
Current licensees of these programs must order the latest release via
MES. Ordering instructions are scheduled to be mailed from IBM
Software Manufacturing Company to all current licensees by
February 11, 1994.
NEW LICENSEES
Orders for new licenses will be accepted now.
Unless a later date is specified, orders entered prior to
January 28, 1994, will be assigned a schedule date of
February 4, 1994.
Shipment will begin on January 28, 1994. Orders entered after
January 28, 1994, will be assigned a schedule date for the week
following order entry.

BASIC LICENSE: To order a basic license of any of these programs,
specify the program number and feature number 9001 for asset
registration.
For NRF Release 9 specify feature number 4513 for a monthly
license charge (MLC) and feature number 2101 for the initial license
charge (ILC).
For NTO Release 10 specify feature number 4521 for a MLC and
feature number 2114 for the ILC.
For EP Release 12 specify feature number 4526 for a MLC and
feature number 2105 for the ILC.
Also, specify the feature number of the desired distribution
medium shown below.

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS: Select the appropriate feature number to
customize your order to specify the delivery options desired. These
features can be specified on the initial or MES orders.
EXAMPLE: If publications are not desired for the initial order, and
for future updates, specify feature numbers 3470 to ship media only,
and 3480 to ship media updates only. In the future if publication
updates are required, order an MES to remove feature number 3480, and
the publications will ship with the next release for the program.

Expedite shipments will be processed to receive 72-hour
delivery from the time IBM Software Manufacturing and Distribution
(ISMD) receives the order. ISMD will then ship the order via
overnight air transportation.
DSLO LICENSE:
To order a DSLO license for NRF Release 9, specify the program
number and feature number 9513 for a monthly license charge (MLC) and
feature number 2301 for an initial license charge (ILC).
To order a DSLO license for NTO Release 10, specify the
program number and feature number 9521 for a MLC and feature number
2314 for an ILC.
To order a DSLO license for EP Release 12, specify the program
number and feature number 9526 for a MLC and feature number 2305 for
an ILC.
Ordering a DSLO feature results in IBM maintaining a record of
this customer location as a DSLO user only. All material for the
DSLO license must be ordered by the basic licensee. If a user
selects DSLO, no other feature numbers are valid for this order and
no program materials or updates will be shipped.
UNLICENSED DOCUMENTATION: A memo, program directory, and one copy of
the following publications are supplied automatically with the basic
machine-readable material:

Additional copies of unlicensed publications will be available
for a fee after January 28, 1994. These copies may be ordered from
your IBM representative through the System Library Subscription
Service (SLSS) or by direct order.
DISPLAYABLE SOFTCOPY PUBLICATIONS: NRF Release 9 books and NTO
Release 10 books are offered in displayable softcopy form. All
unlicensed books are included. The displayable books are shipped on
the IBM ONLINE LIBRARY: NETWORKING SYSTEMS SOFTCOPY COLLECTION KIT
CD-ROM (SK2T-6012). For your convenience, the CD-ROM also contains
displayable books for several other related products.
One copy of the CD-ROM may be ordered with the product ACF/NCP
Version 7 (5648-063) by specifying the feature number 7103. Refer to
Announcement 292-450, dated August 25, 1992, to order additional
copies.
The displayable books can be used with the BookManager (R)
Read licensed programs in any of the Read-supported environments.
They can also be used with the IBM Library Reader (TM) in DOS and
OS/2 (R) environments. IBM Library Reader has the same functions as
the BookManager READ/DOS and READ/2 licensed programs except that it
only reads IBM-produced books shipped after April 1992. As IBM
replaces softcopy books shipped before April 1992, the replacement
softcopy will be readable by IBM Library Reader.
IBM Library Reader is supplied at no additional charge.
LICENSED DOCUMENTATION: The following licensed material for NRF
Release 9 books and NTO Release 10 books will be available from IBM
beginning January 28, 1994. To order, contact your IBM
representative.
The first copy is available at no charge to licensees of basic
material. Additional copies are available for a fee.
For NRF Release 9 specify the 7042 feature number for the
first copy and the 8126 feature number for additional copies.
For NTO Release 10 specify the 7046 feature number for the
first copy and the 8323 feature number for additional copies.

terms of the IBM Customer Agreement.

license is required for each machine on which the licensed program
materials will be used.
EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCE: A 15% educational allowance is applicable
toward eligible license charges and is available to qualifying
institutions in accordance with the Educational Allowance Attachment.
The educational allowance may not be added to any other
discount or allowance.

These licensed programs will be available with source licensed
program material for some modules designated as RESTRICTED MATERIALS
OF IBM. In addition, some modules will be available without source

object code.

PROGRAM SERVICES: Central Service, including the IBM Support Center,
will be available until discontinued by IBM upon 12 months' written
notice.
