Description

WebSphere Dynamic Process Edition supports process optimization across heterogeneous, dynamic, transaction-rich environments. It works best with processes that require interaction across multiple divisions, departments, or applications and that can involve higher frequencies of change. WebSphere Dynamic Process Edition includes three products that deliver foundational capabilities of business process management (BPM).

WebSphere Dynamic Process Edition enables you to assemble, change, and continuously optimize your business. It includes the following comprehensive, dynamic, BPM capabilities:

  • Delivers significant value by aligning your organization to your ever-changing business process objectives
  • Delivers tools for collaboration across different types of process participants, from business leaders to IT architects, towards managing processes
  • Creates processes designed for continuous optimization, supported by continuous feedback

Model and simulate: WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced helps you document, visualize, and analyze your business processes using industry standards and support for leading BPM technologies.

New capabilities include:

  • Delivers IBM BPM tooling for business analysts:
    • Enables business analysts to graphically model business processes, including human workflows and business rules leveraging business process modeling notation (BPMN)
    • Delivers improved model editing with a simplified palette and more options for customizing the way business processes are visualized
    • Can import template-based Microsoft® Excel XML content
  • Offers integration with IBM Rational Asset Manager as an asset repository to manage BPM assets at design time
    • Enables business analysts to find, reuse, publish, and manage relevant BPM artifacts
    • Manages versions and approvals of process models and related assets
    • Offers shared access to business and IT artifacts with WebSphere Integration Developer and WebSphere Business Monitor tools
  • Includes additional capabilities for business analysts to create human workflows
    • Enables business analysts to create, review, and interact with user interface forms to simulate business processes
    • Uses organizational models to seed a people directory

For additional information on WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced, refer to Software Announcement 208-143 , dated June 24, 2008.

Rapidly deploy and change: WebSphere Business Services Fabric is a BPM product enabled by SOA that delivers dynamic business process capabilities. It assembles and stores business services that are managed and whose outcomes are changed with business service policies.

New functions and benefits include:

  • Enhanced integration with WebSphere Service Registry and Repository, WebSphere Business Monitor, and WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced
  • More functionality for business users with simplified tooling for business service policy changes and improved integration with WebSphere Monitor for faster ROI

WebSphere Business Services Fabric is ideal for clients with enterprise environments that are constrained with a combination of legacy, packaged, and custom applications built on disparate technologies resulting in:

  • Diminished business agility
  • Enforced alignment of business functions and processes to legacy application constraints
  • Difficulty responding to market and competitive pressures
  • High operating and maintenance costs

With this offering you can:

  • Build next-generation SOA business solutions using WebSphere Business Services Fabric as a core strategic product
  • Operate in a heterogeneous operating environment with WebSphere Services Business Fabric as its center while dynamically representing business function
  • Capture and codify business policies as a means to define solution behavior
  • Construct a composite application using a full set of tools, management features, and lifecycle controls.

For additional information on WebSphere Business Services Fabric, refer to Software Announcement 208-146 , dated June 24, 2008.

Monitor, predict, and act

WebSphere Business Monitor can extend the reach of business activity monitoring (BAM). The goals of BAM are to provide real-time information about the status and results of various operations, processes, and transactions. BAM systems are driven by business events, fed directly from integration software, or from BPM software. With BAM, you can react quickly to real-time business process events and situations to make informed decisions and take action.

Enhancements in V6.1.2 helps you access a wider variety of process information using more robust business dashboards. These new features improve the dashboard experience and dramatically enhance the ease of use for designing and deploying monitoring solutions.

  • Accessing information remotely — Dashboards on mobile devices, such as a Blackberry, help business users stay abreast of the real-time data for actionable insights.
  • Extending the reach of BAM — View information from a broader range of process data sources on business dashboards.
  • Improving support for business users and business analysts — Ease of use and the ability to collaborate on dashboard design can simplify development and deployment of monitoring solutions.
  • Accelerating time to value — Ability to graphically debug and manage monitoring models can speed development of monitoring solutions.

For additional information on WebSphere Business Monitor, refer to Software Announcement 208-141 , dated June 24, 2008.

Authorized user: An authorized user is one and only one individual (named or unnamed) within or outside your enterprise. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for each individual user accessing the program in any manner. A program licensed under an authorized user PoE may be installed on a single computer or server, and accessed by multiple users, provided that a PoE has been obtained for each individual user accessing the program either directly or indirectly (via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means on behalf of the user.

Value Unit: A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The number of Value Unit entitlements required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be obtained from a Value Unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated number of Value Unit entitlements for your implementation. The Value Unit entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program.
