Description

IBM WebSphere Business Modeler and IBM WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server are a comprehensive business process modeling, BPM design, and modeling collaboration set of tools. V6.1.2 is focused on improving the overall end-to-end BPM experience.

  • Designed to offer enhanced lifecycle management of business process management (BPM) projects — Integrates with IBM Rational Asset Manager to help manage the reuse and traceability of process models, model components, and other assets. It provides a scalable solution for business analysts who need to manage large numbers of BPM assets and the relationships between them. Together with IT architects and developers, business analysts will be able to communicate, share, and search for BPM models and other assets, whether they are using WebSphere Business Modeler, WebSphere Integration Developer, or the Monitoring Model Editor within WebSphere Business Monitor.
  • Designed to simplify communication of business processes
    • Leverages business process modeling notation (BPMN) for process modeling, a standard graphical notation for drawing business process models.
    • Improved ease of use of Process Editor with features such as a breadcrumb trail support for easy sub-process navigation, a new, easy to navigate palette, and newly designed artifacts. An additional feature includes support for custom graphical images in process models. This feature provides the ability for business analysts to customize images used to represent elements of a business process, such as tasks, processes, human tasks, and business rule tasks. This feature offers flexibility in representing specific business process in a tailored manner. The business analyst can print and publish these process models in the same format.
    • Collaborates with subject matter experts on user interface form views and dashboard designs via WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server.
    • Simplified user interface for WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server using Web 2.0 technologies.
  • Designed to help accelerate creation of human workflows by business users
    • The business analyst can step through a storyboard during simulation and view a rendering of the user interface forms associated with each human task that has been created. This is designed to allow the business analyst to iterate on the process and collaborate on user interface forms design, before handing off the user interface forms to a developer to finalize.
    • V6.1.2 leverages organizational models for people directories. Organization resources (staff and person) defined in WebSphere Business Modeler may be exported in a format that can be leveraged by an IT administrator to create Virtual Member Manager (VMM) entries to populate a people directory, such as Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
  • Designed to adapt easily to changing business conditions — Model business rules based on business relevance that may be modified, at run time, by the business user when using the WebSphere Business Monitor dashboards.
  • Designed to enhance interoperability of business and data models — Supports importing of template-based Microsoft Excel XML content. The business analyst will be able to import model elements such as resources and organizations that are created in Excel XML format.
  • Expands platform and infrastructure currency — Updated platforms for WebSphere Business Modeler Publishing Server for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES) on Intel and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 on Intel.

Authorized user

An authorized user is one and only one individual (named or unnamed) within or outside your enterprise. A PoE must be obtained for each individual user accessing the program in any manner. A program licensed under an authorized user PoE may be installed on a single computer or server, and accessed by multiple users, provided that a PoE has been obtained for each individual user accessing the program either directly or indirectly (via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means on behalf of the user.

Value Unit: A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The number of Value Unit entitlements required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be obtained from a Value Unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated number of Value Unit entitlements for your implementation. The Value Unit entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program.
