Description

Administration

DB2 Audit Management Expert for z/OS, V2.1 (5655-T57) provides the ability to selectively audit inserts, updates, deletes, reads, authorization failures, grants and revokes, and AUTHID changes, as well as command and utility executions in DB2 systems.

Enhancements include:

  • Capture of the SQL statements, both dynamic and static.
  • Capture of the host variable values.
  • SQL DML (update, insert, delete) audit data is collected using an internal collection mechanism instead of utilizing DB2 audit trace. The audit flag is required to track DDL, utility access, and commands.

DB2 Audit Management Expert can help your IT staff meet the ever-growing requirements placed on them for achieving regulatory compliance. This easy-to-use tool allows you to view all reported activity on specific DB2 tables, generate meaningful reports to report on the data collected in the audit repository, and perform a log analysis based on collected audit data.

DB2 Audit Management Expert separates the roles of auditing and database administration, freeing up valuable resources needed to support auditing requests. It removes the requirement that auditors be privileged users on the systems they are auditing and delivers:

  • Centralized easy-to-use tools for your auditing needs: The reporting interface is designed for auditors to facilitate common auditing tasks such as determining who updated a particular object in a certain time frame or monitoring unauthorized access for specific systems or objects. In addition, auditors can perform detailed log analysis for any changes being monitored by DB2 Audit Management Expert and view the corresponding SQL text that was issued.
  • Customized data collection capabilities: Policies for the collection of audit data are contained in collection profiles. Collection profiles can be based on any combination of:
    • Authid
    • WorkstationName
    • WorkstationTrans
    • Plans
    • DB2 objects
    • DB2 user IDs
    • Applications connecting to DB2
    • Failed authorizations
    • DB2 utility access
    • DB2 commands
    • Time

Filters can be exported or imported using XML files to other audit servers or assigned to another DB2 system within the same audit server. This allows for filters created for common tables such as SAP to be created once and then used at other DB2 servers where the same application tables are installed.

  • Comprehensive reporting facilities with multiple options to view and report on collected data: Robust reporting options enable auditors to view and report on data from several perspectives:
    • Overview of all the subsystems currently being monitored
    • Subsystem view of activity for a selected subsystem
    • Detail view for a particular type of activity for a selected subsystem
  • A separate administration user interface: The separate user-friendly administration interface enables product administrators to easily define Audit Management Expert entities such as users and groups and collection criteria. It employs a series of easy-to-use wizards to guide the administrator through each administrative task.
  • Detailed log analysis: To report on data changes, the log analysis feature gives you the ability to:
    • Set filtering criteria for reporting data changes by date ranges, Insert, Update, and Delete activity, and AUTHID.
    • View who modified audited tables in a DB2 system and see the actual changes made to the tables.
    • Easily input the information needed for log analysis. Selection capability is provided to allow you to refine the amount of information returned.

Information integration

WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R55) and WebSphere Data Event Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R56) have important new functions available with PTF for APAR PK49430 that include:

  • Reduce lock contention for z/OS batch jobs: You can now set a maximum number of agents for the Q Apply program to use when processing transactions that have the same z/OS batch job name or correlation ID. You set the maxagents_correlid parameter for a replication queue map. This parameter allows you to reduce lock contention by limiting parallelism for transactions from the same batch job on a z/OS Q Capture server. Reducing lock contention can lower latency.
  • Replicate and publish XML columns: You can now replicate or publish DB2 XML columns. These columns are replicated or published in a similar manner to other columns. You can also replicate or publish these data types to federated targets that support XML columns or you can map XML columns to character large-object (CLOB) columns or binary large-object (BLOB) columns at the target.
  • New option for sending LOB data for improved performance: You can now replicate or publish LOB data within the transactions message instead of in a separate LOB message by setting the LOB_SEND_OPTION to I (inline). When the LOB data is sent in the transaction messages, the Q Capture and Q Apply programs send fewer messages and the Q Apply program is able to write all the columns at one time. This new inline option helps to reduce CPU usage at the Q Capture server and significantly improve throughput at the Q Apply server.
  • Delimited message format for event publishing: WebSphere Data Event Publisher now publishes delimited messages. The delimited message format is similar to delimited sequential files, but with the high throughput advantage of WebSphere MQ queues. Changes are read from the recovery log and transformed into WebSphere MQ messages that use delimiters to separate the column data, records, and other information. Organizations that now use WebSphere DataStage® Change Data Capture to send DB2 changes to WebSphere DataStage can take advantage of the messaging infrastructure of event publishing by using the delimited message format.
  • New option for maintaining target tables: You can now place a Q subscription into a temporary spill state so that you can perform maintenance on the target table. You use the asnqacmd spillsub command to put the Q subscription into the spilling state and the asnqacmd resumesub command to resume normal operations. This new option allows you to take a single table offline for maintenance rather than many tables.
  • New error action for code-page conversion and option for sending raw data: Previously, when the Q Capture program encountered a code-page conversion error, the Q Capture program would treat it as a fatal error and stop. Now, the column is flagged as having an code-page conversion error. You can also configure publishing queue maps to send raw data in a hexadecimal format when an error occurs during code-page conversion.
  • New CCD target type in SQL replication avoids join of UOW and CD tables: You now have the option of replicating to a consistent-change-data (CCD) target table without joining the change-data (CD) table and the IBMSNAP_UOW table. To use the new table type, specify a value of 9 in the TARGET_STRUCTURE column of the IBMSNAP_SUBS_MEMBR table. Even though the type 9 CCD table includes the IBMSNAP_LOGMARKER column, the Apply program does not require a join of the CD table and IBMSNAP_UOW table to obtain the source commit information for this column. Instead, the Apply program generates the same value in the IBMSNAP_LOGMARKER column for all of the rows in the same cycle. The new CCD table type has the same structure as a type 3 CCD table. You can register the new target table type as a source table for a three-tier replication configuration.

Performance

DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS, V3.2 (5697-I04) delivers an extensive analysis of SQL queries without executing them. This analysis aids you in tuning your queries to achieve maximum performance. Functional enhancements include:

  • From any input source, the ability to drill down and display all the SQL statements or all the DB2 tables used within the given source is provided. This gives you the ability to selectively explain at a finer granularity.
  • An option to use the DB2 stored procedure called DSN8.DSN8EXP. This feature can be used to run an EXPLAIN of an SQL statement without needing the authority to run the SQL. DSN8.DSN8EXP is useful to your application programmers who need to analyze access paths for queries to ensure they perform efficiently, yet lack the authority to execute (and therefore explain) the queries against production objects due to security; for example, sensitive payroll data.
  • A new message is provided when SQL/PA processing encounters a DBRM with no explainable SQL statements. The message:
    • Lists the DBRM name in the ANLCOST report
    • Reports that no explainable statements were found
  • Easy Explain TSO processing may now use a set of generic plan tables for DB2 Explains to remove the requirement for individual users to have a unique authid.PLAN_TABLE which:
    • Conserves space
    • Helps handle ad hoc users who do not have their own EXPLAIN output tables
  • Modification of precompiler options and bind process to handle package versioning.

Usability enhancements include:

  • Easy Explain batch processing acceptance of SQL statements where a semicolon to delimit the end of the statement was unintentionally left off.
  • Ability to selectively allow specification of PROGNAME(s) when processing a retro explain.
  • Enhanced interface to DB2 Query Monitor accepts either a DDNAME or a DSNAME when SQL Performance Analyzer is called.
  • New ISPF panel displays each SQL statement of a DBRM in a list.
  • The install and customization processes have been simplified by combining these processes for SQL Performance Analyzer and Easy Explain.
  • TSO access enhancements deliver seamless integration between SQL Performance Analyzer and the Easy Explain function.

Reporting enhancements include:

  • A parameter is available to control whether the system and user parameters are displayed at the top of the Enhanced Explain and Trace Reports.
  • When processing SQL statements, both the SQL Performance Analyzer and Easy Explain reports are available.
  • The ability to use a line command on the QLIMIT report gives you the ability to:
    • Jump into any of the available reports directly to where the query's information is displayed
    • Perform what-if analysis — a query to see what impact a change in the SQL would have on the selected DB2 access path
  • Format of SQL statements displayed on the COST report improved by breaking the lines based on keywords; for example, SELECT, FROM, and WHERE.
  • Maximum record length increased from 72 to 255 for SQL Performance Analyzer statements contained in sequential and PDS data sets.
  • A new parameter controls how SQL Performance Analyzer executes an EXPLAIN either by use of a stored procedure or, as it is done today, by using embedded SQL. The default is the use of embedded SQL. This allows you to be granted authority to run performance reports using SQL Performance Analyzer without affecting your authority on the DB2 level.
  • New parameter controls whether host variable names or parameter markers appear in the COST report when the SQL statement is displayed.
  • New primary commands are now available for processing input sources:
    • Explain all
    • Show SQL
    • Show tables
  • A title has been added to reports indicating the source of input; for example, PLAN NAME, DBRM, PACKAGE, and SQL.

IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS, V1.2 (5697-H77) delivers statistical analysis that helps you analyze your current IMS online and batch job buffer pools. Additionally, it provides the information required to determine whether changes to the buffer pool configuration would benefit IMS performance.

Every database buffer pool has different characteristics, so it is hard to know how changes might affect each one. Often, you have to resort to guesswork, hoping that your tuning activities will not impede I/O rates.

IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS is able to:

  • Review your buffer pool environment and recommend changes to the number of buffers in each subpool to improve performance. Buffer Pool Analyzer makes specific recommendations for the number of buffers for each subpool and the resulting change in storage usage and reduction in number of database reads.
  • Review the databases allocated to each subpool and document subpools that include databases with hit ratios that are inconsistent, providing the information you can use to change your subpool configuration.
  • Identify storage that is wasted because the most efficient buffer sizes are not available for database data sets.
  • Determine if adding or subtracting buffers will improve the performance of a selected buffer pool.
  • Model buffer pool usage to determine I/O rates for various numbers of buffers in each pool.
  • Identify which databases most heavily use each database subpool.
  • Provide I/O rates and buffering requirements for a specific database to facilitate required buffer pool changes for database structure alterations.
  • Perform "what if" scenario analysis, including the impact of creating new buffer pools or changing the buffer size of a database.
  • Visualize the impact of change — before it is too late.

For both the actual buffer pool configuration and a model configuration (with different buffer pool or database data set assignments), IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS provides a report for each subpool that shows:

  • Subpool information, including the pool configuration, buffer request rate and actual performance information.
  • Database information, including a list of all the database data sets with activity in that subpool, along with the hit ratio, buffer request rate, and I/O rate for each data set.
  • Projections, including various buffer pool sizes, subpool hit ratio, I/O rate, and buffer life.
  • In addition, for each buffer pool size projection, IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS calculates a number that can be used to compare subpools. The marginal reduction shows which subpools would reduce I/O the most, per 1 KB of storage added to the pool.

IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS is extended to deliver the following new features and functional improvements:

  • Model impact of database access method or buffer size change.
  • Buffer pool statistics for FP DEDB databases.
  • Recommendations for changes to the number of buffers allocated to each subpool.
  • Suggestions for review, including inconsistent hit ratio databases sharing the same subpool, and databases that do not have the most efficient buffer sizes available.
  • New buffer pool allocation report.

Recovery

DB2 Log Analysis Tool for z/OS, V3.1 (5655-T56) delivers a powerful tool to ensure high availability and complete control over data integrity. It allows you to monitor data changes by automatically building reports of changes that are made to database tables. Version 3.1 includes the following enhancements.

  • Use of current table space dictionary: A current table space dictionary can be used while running in log-forward mode. Previously, every dictionary needed to decompress row data, required reading an image copy when running in log-forward mode. Now the product can determine if it can use a current table space dictionary, which may avoid any image copy reads entirely, assuming no other data is required from the image copy. This can result in performance improvements.
  • Automatic determination of table space names: When running in Expert Mode, if only current table space reads are needed for input, the product can determine which table space dataset names are needed. This alleviates the need to type in, potentially, many dataset names if the table space is partitioned.
  • Limited support for table versioning: DB2 V8 introduced the concept of table versioning, or altering a column data type. For example, you can change a SMALLINT to an INTEGER column data type. Log Analysis Tool delivers support for table versioning where possible; however, due to the nature of table versioning, the support is limited and may require manual intervention.
  • Removing compensation log records: When processing rollbacks, you can now control whether the compensation log records are included in the output. Removing compensation records can decrease the amount of data tracked.
  • Current row exclusion: Current row information can be omitted from log-backward reports. This represents a 33% reduction in certain file sizes, as well as the detail report itself. If you don't need to see current row information, it is recommended it be omitted.
  • Trigger support: Triggers are now identified in reports. Where possible, trigger support has been added to SQL generation.
  • Hexadecimal values for filters: Hexadecimal values can now be provided for column-level filtering.
  • Sending messages to SYSOUT: Informational messages have always been written to the job log. These messages prevent unnecessary re-runs for diagnostic purposes. Most of these messages can now be directed to SYSOUT, rather than to your system log and job log. This reduces the number of messages going to your system log. In some cases, messages will still be written to the job log, but these will be minimal.
  • Load general reports into a DB2 table: General report output can now be loaded back into a DB2 table. Previous releases have only allowed detail report output to be loaded back into DB2.
  • Updated user interface: The look-and-feel of product panels and help for those panels now conforms to generally accepted IBM ISPF guidelines. Note that many panels are now scrollable and contain more input fields below the original view.
  • User-controlled file allocation: Dynamic allocation of many of the files needed by the product was introduced in Version 2.3. Some users prefer having complete control over those datasets. This release allows you to override the default behavior (dynamic allocation of files) and instead include all needed files in the JCL as hard-coded values (similar to pre-2.3 releases).

The User settings panel gives you this ability and can be changed as wanted for each run of the product. Note that there are many such files, and when overriding the product's default behavior (of dynamically allocating files), the generated JCL will be much longer as it will include all these files in hard-coded format.

  • Support for large object (LOB) and XML data types: LOB and XML data types are now supported for some operations. LOB data can be viewed, included in SQL operations if using DB2 9, or later, and included in LOAD operations if using DB2 V7, or later, with the appropriate DB2 PTFs applied. XML data can be viewed and used in SQL and in LOAD operations. Both of these potentially large objects require the DB2 "file-by-reference" feature for support in SQL and LOAD operations, and the above restrictions reflect DB2's current support level in these areas.
  • One-phase mode processing: New methods of processing the general and detail reports, along with LOAD options, have been introduced. These new methods fall under the term " one-phase mode." Effectively, this means processing for all these tasks can now be accomplished in a single job step, or in one phase. These new methods of processing are provided for performance improvements and also greatly reduce the number of files you need to manage.
  • Multi-level security support: MLS support is now provided. Multi-level security provides authorizations down to the row level within a table. If a user is not allowed to view the row due to MLS definitions, Log Analysis Tool will not allow the user to view the row either.
  • Log reading in parallel: Log reading parallelism has been extended to nondata sharing groups. In past releases, reading logs in parallel was only possible if operating in a data sharing environment, and each separate member's logs could be read in parallel. Now, parallelism is by log, not member, so data sharing is no longer a determining factor. The "User settings" panel still provides the "Log read parallelism maximum" field, which a site can use to control the maximum number of subtasks to handle reading logs in parallel.
  • Mode report to aid in diagnostics: For diagnostic purposes, a new DD has been added to JCL involving general and detail reports. This DD, named MODERPT, will contain output reflecting both user-defined values and product-determined values in the MODEFILE. Different programs can modify the values contained therein, so multiple occurrences of these reports will be output during general and detail reporting. The product-determined values are output exclusively to aid the vendor in diagnostics. The user-defined values reflect values set by the user prior to executing the JCL. These reports are only available with V3.1 generated JCL. If you migrated from V2.3 and did not regenerate V3.1 JCL, the DDs for MODERPT will be missing, and no reports will be possible.
  • MODEFILE operations for using new release: A new section in "User Settings" allows you to convert a MODEFILE from a previous release to the 3.1 version, making it easier to convert your jobs. You can examine the MODEFILE contents from past releases so you do not have to remember what settings you used previously to regenerate your JCL for 3.1. You can also convert the MODEFILE and it will fill in the panels for regenerating the JCL.
  • New advanced filter: The NC advanced filter allows a column level filter where the value did not change. This complements the previously existing filter CH, to filter on a column value that changed.
  • Bypass column level formatting: You can bypass column level formatting when running a detail report. This can result in performance improvements. When requested, and if allowed by the product, raw row data will not be formatted into displayable row data. See the User Settings panel for more information.
  • Backup image copy support: Image copy backups are now supported. If the primary image copy is unavailable, a backup copy will automatically be used, if available. No input from you on this process is required.

IMS Recovery Expert for z/OS, V1.1 (5655-R26) is a new addition to the IMS Tools product portfolio that provides features to ensure that your IMS database environment is recoverable. The product inspects information that is stored in the RECON data sets, system catalogs, and in the repositories of IBM IMS Tools Knowledge Base for z/OS, V1.1 (5655-R34) and detects problems that can affect database recovery. It provides the ability to create clean recovery points across multiple IMS systems and performs synchronized log switches. IMS Recovery Expert for z/OS offers features to determine valid database recovery points, makes sure that all of the resources necessary to perform a recovery are present, and provides the ability to manage the RECON data sets to ensure that they match the disaster recovery environment.

Features that you can utilize:

  • Recovery Point Create: Allows you to create a recovery point for one or more databases by issuing /DBR or /DBD commands against the databases, waiting for the databases to become unallocated on all systems, and then restarting them. Additionally, a synchronized log switch feature is provided that performs a /SWI OLDS command on all active systems in the group.
  • Recovery Point Identification: Reads information in the RECON data sets to determine common recovery points for one or more databases.
  • Recovery Assets Verification: Examines the RECON data sets and generates a list of the recovery assets that are needed to recover one or more databases. This feature performs one or all of the following functions:
    • List or print the recovery assets required to recover the specified databases
    • Allocate all recovery assets in order to ensure that they exist
    • Open all recovery assets to ensure that they are valid
  • RECON Clean Up: Allows you to prepare a set of RECON data sets for your disaster recovery environment by modifying the contents of the RECON data sets to match your disaster recovery site.
  • Recovery Health Check: Consists of many different options to check and verify the recoverability of your environment. This feature inspects and verifies information in the RECON data sets. Additionally, it validates the information in the RECON data sets against information outside the RECON data sets (for example, the z/OS catalog).
  • IMS Command: Allows you to issue IMS commands in batch to active IMS subsystems and view the output from those commands.

IMS Tools Knowledge Base for z/OS is also used to store information relating to various existing IMS environments. The information is stored in the form of RECONID records. For example, RECON data set name, IMS Tools Online System Interface XCF group, IMSPlex name, and command security information is saved.

In order to reduce the impact to active IMS subsystems, IMS Recovery Expert provides an option to create and access a copy of the RECON data sets instead of accessing the RECON data sets currently in use by the online systems. The RECON copy operation is performed dynamically based on parameters that you specify.

IMS Recovery Expert utilizes the DBRC Application Programming Interface to access information in the RECON data sets.

IMS Recovery Expert executes as a batch job that you or the job scheduler can submit. There is no need for IMS Recovery Expert to have an active address space up and running to service requests. Everything is contained in a single address space.

Value Unit-based pricing

Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM eServer® System z IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing, has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.

Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.

Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity. If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a System z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.

For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:

  • Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
  • Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
  • Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
  • Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost

To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site

Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.

To determine the required license capacity for the System z IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

For each IBM eServer® zSeries® IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity." Your required license capacity is based upon the following factors:

  • The zSeries IPLA program you select
  • The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
  • The applicable terms
  • Whether your current mainframes are full-capacity or sub-capacity

Value Unit exhibit VUE007

              MSUs MSUs

Ordering example

The total number of Value Units is calculated according to the following example.

If your required license capacity is 1,500 MSUs for your selected System z™ IPLA product, the applicable Value Units would be:

Translation from MSUs to Value Units

            MSUs * Value Units/MSU = Value Units

Base 3 * 1.00 = 3.00
Tier A 42 * .45 = 18.90
Tier B 130 * .36 = 46.80
Tier C 140 * .27 = 37.80
Tier D 1,185 * .20 = 237.00

Total 1,500 343.50

When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.

Subscription and Support

To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.

To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge option.

IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAASM). This offering:

  • Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
  • Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.

When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will renew automatically annually unless cancelled by you.

The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390 and zSeries license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.

Single version charging: To elect single version charging, you must notify and identify to IBM the prior program and replacement program, and the machine the programs are operating on.

Customized Offerings

Product deliverables are shipped only via Customized Offerings (for example, CBPDO, ServerPac, SystemPac®).

CBPDO and ServerPac are offered for Internet delivery, where ShopzSeries product ordering is available. Internet delivery of ServerPac may help improve automation and software delivery time. For more details on Internet delivery, refer to the ShopzSeries help information at

Media type for this software product is chosen during the Customized Offerings ordering process. Based on your customer environment, it is recommended that the highest possible density tape media is selected. Currently offered media types are:

  • CBPDOs — 3480, 3480 Compressed, 3490E, 3590, 3592*
  • ServerPacs — 3480, 3480 Compressed, 3490E, 3590, 3592*
  • SystemPacs — 3480, 3480 Compressed, 3490E, 3590, 3592*
*
3592 is highest density media. Selecting 3592 will ship the fewest number of media.

Once a product becomes generally available, it will be included in the next ServerPac and SystemPac monthly update.

Production of software product orders will begin on the planned general availability date.

  • CBPDO shipments will begin one week after general availability.
  • ServerPac shipments will begin two weeks after inclusion in ServerPac.
  • SystemPac shipments will begin four weeks after inclusion in SystemPac due to additional customization, and data input verification.

Terms and conditions

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage® Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information (LI) document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use.

Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance: The following agreement applies for maintenance and does not require customer signatures:

  • IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (Z125-6011)

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

S/390 and System z IBM Operational Support Services — SoftwareXcel is an option if you desire added services.

Limited warranty: Yes

Limited warranty: IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. Consult the IBM Software Support Guide for further information at

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program support: Enhanced support, called Subscription and Support, includes telephone assistance, as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. You will be notified of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Authorization for use on home/portable computer: You may not copy and use this program on another computer without paying additional license fees.

Full-capacity mainframes: In cases where full capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.

Execution based, z/OS based, full machine based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, visit

Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.

Sub-capacity mainframes: In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply.

Execution based: The required capacity of a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the System z IPLA program executes.

z/OS based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS (and z/OS.e) on the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.

Reference based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the parent program.

Full-machine-based: The required license capacity of a System z IPLA program with full-machine-based terms equals the MSU-rated capacity of the machines where the System z IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU-rated capacities, refer to The System/370™, System/390®, and System z Machine Exhibit (Z125-3901), or visit the Mainframes section of the System z Exhibits Web site

For more information on sub-capacity System z IPLA terms and conditions, refer to 204-184 , dated August 10, 2004.

For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System z IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the System z IPLA program executes.

An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.

When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the System z IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:

  • That meets the criteria defined in 198-001 , dated January 13, 1998
  • Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the Sysplex

Sub-capacity eligibility: To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:

  • All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS (or z/OS.e) operating systems.
  • Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
  • All instances of the z/OS operating (or z/OS.e) systems must be running in z/Architecture™ (64-bit) mode.

For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the System z Software Pricing Web site

You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:

  • The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement — Attachment for System z Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
  • The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement — Attachment for IBM eServer System z 890 and 800 License Charges (Z125-6587).

Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract — Amendment for IBM System z9™ and eServer zSeries Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous System z IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.

Sub-capacity utilization determination
