| Description |
IBM offers more than 80 tools that feature common interfaces and cross-tool integration, tested under the same configurations and workloads as the databases they support. As the industry enters the era of autonomic computing, DB2 and IMS tools will become increasingly self-managed in terms of dynamically monitoring and managing data, and in taking responsibility for decision making and initiating action.
Administration
DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, V7.2 (5697-L90) and DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS, V7.2 (5697-L40) , when used together, provide a function-rich object management solution. Both tools are designed with an easy-to-use interactive system productivity facility (ISPF) interface that lets you:
- Manage and process DB2 objects
- Organize DB2 objects for better system throughput
DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, V7.2 allows you to manage the tasks that keep DB2 performing at peak levels. It provides a comprehensive set of functions that helps your DB2 personnel manage their DB2 environments efficiently and effectively, including:
-
Providing in-depth catalog navigation by:
- Displaying and interpreting objects in the DB2 catalog
- Executing dynamic SQL statements
-
Integration with other DB2 tools to simplify the task process flow:
- Table editing
- SQL cost analysis
DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS, V7.2 maximizes system availability by keeping production and testing database environments running in parallel. It:
- Simplifies the process of comparing objects and their dependents from different sources
- Synchronizes sources
- Consistently keeps production databases in step with those for testing and development
Change management processing is the main enhancement of the new releases of DB2 Administration Tool and DB2 Object Comparison Tool. By providing an interface to manage all the version files for a database, the tools allow you to track the history of changes as well as select version files from a list rather than having to remember them in various panels.
You are given the option to specify a change owner and name for every piece of work, whether you are using Alter Table Columns (ALC) or Object Compare (OC) to effect the change. Change owner and name can then be used to provide a method for maintaining a relationship between version files, mask files, ignore files, generated DDL, and unloaded data. Using a management interface, you are then able to track and query changes to objects and quickly find all the components involved in a change.
Changes are stored in a change management database, which supports the capability to report on the contents of the data and answer questions such as, Who did what, when? This release also supports collaborative processing, allowing groups of users to work together and build changes by managing information through a series of DB2 tables. The key to this process is the capability of the tools to capture only the change information, not all the related objects. The tools can handle urgent changes that need to occur immediately. They also support virtual changes for the ALC, RDEF, CREATE, and Rename database functions in DB2 Administration Tool, giving you the ability to see changes that are in process but not apparent in the DB2 catalog. This collaborative processing ability can reduce the time you take to perform change management activities and decrease errors that may occur in a complex process.
The change processes are:
- Register a change in the database.
- Analyze how a change modifies existing objects and generate a Work Statement List (WSL) to execute the change.
- Apply (run) a change.
- Promote (move) changes from a source system to a target system.
- Recover the changes executed.
- Query the changes that have been defined or the objects that are being changed.
IMS Audit Management Expert for z/OS, V1.1 (5655-R23) is designed to meet the needs involved in auditing IMS environments. Auditors use IMS Audit Management Expert for z/OS to view, analyze, and report on data.
This new tool is the first centralized IMS auditing tool that collects and correlates data access information from a variety of IMS resources. The information is collected primarily from the IMS logs and SMF and is stored in a DB2 repository, which can be viewed through a GUI.
IMS Audit Management Expert for z/OS, V1.1 offers the following key features:
-
The Audit Management Expert repository contains tables to define audited systems/objects and their
properties in audit log tables. Three kinds of information are saved in the repository:
- Administrative information: This information defines the overall IMS Audit Management Expert environment for this instance of the server.
- Security information: IMS Audit Management Expert maintains its own user and security information to protect the potentially sensitive data collected in the repository. An Administration GUI allows authorized users the ability to create, edit, and view authorization and user profiles.
- Audit data: All collected data is stored in DB2 tables in the Audit Management Expert repository. The tables are designed to achieve maximum performance for the potentially high volumes of data that could be generated in some IMS systems.
-
The Reporting/Analysis GUI is an easy-to-use, auditor-friendly interface for viewing and analyzing
information that has been collected into the Audit Management Expert repository audit log tables.
The presentation and terminology reflects what you, as auditor, want to view.
It allows you to query the repository audit log tables with uncommitted read in order to avoid locking the tables when reports are run.
IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS, V1.2 (5655-H97) is a high-performance tool that reduces downtime from hours to seconds and increases database administration productivity and efficiency with a single-step reorganization process. The tool can implement changes automatically across all online systems without the need for manual intervention. The single-step reorganization process can be used for all full-function databases, greatly reducing the complexity of the JCL needed to perform the many reorganization process steps.
With IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS, you can:
- Reorganize HISAM, SHISAM, HIDAM, HDAM, PHIDAM, and PHDAM databases.
- Make selected DBD changes during the reorganization process, automatically propagating the changes to the participating online systems without manual intervention.
- Define the period when takeover time occurs, specifying a less-critical time window for when the database is unavailable.
-
Automatically create and define the shadow data sets based on the existing database data sets:
- System Managed Storage (SMS) allocation uses the same SMS constructs and candidate volumes.
- Non-SMS allocation uses the same volume serials.
- Allow a user exit to be specified during load, which can be used to perform tasks such as purge or change data.
All features and functionality of the previous release and the following enhancements are included:
- Support for batch message processing programs (BMPs) that allow you to pause BMPs during /DBRECOVERY commands
- Support for CICS® and OTMA applications that quiesce database access during /DBRECOVERY commands

Information integration solutions
WebSphere Classic Federation Server for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R52) provides SQL access to mainframe databases and files with transactional speed and enterprise scale without mainframe programming. Using WebSphere Classic Federation Server, applications and tools can issue SQL SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE commands using open database connectivity, Java database connectivity, or a command-level interface to access System z data stored in VSAM, IAM, and sequential files, as well as DB2 UDB for z/OS, IMS, Software AG Adabas, and Computer Associates CA-Datacom and CA-IDMS databases all without mainframe programming.
This release provides Classic Data Architect, a new Eclipse-based GUI tool for interactive and dynamic metadata management, significant improvements in DB2 data access performance, 64-bit client platforms, enhanced automation of support for redefined data, expanded automation associated with metadata management, significant additions to the integration between existing Adabas and IDMS metadata and the Classic Data Architect, as well as improved flexibility in handling IMS PCB selection.
WebSphere Classic Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R53) provides System z data sourcing for IBM's queue-based replication solution, WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1. WebSphere Classic Replication Server supports SQL-driven access and near-real time changed-data feeds over WebSphere MQ from VSAM files and IMS, Computer Associates CA-IDMS, and Software AG Adabas. Data is specifically formatted for consumption by WebSphere Replication Server's queue-replication capabilities, enabling targeting of DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase.
WebSphere Classic Replication Server automatically reformats captured System z data into relational constructs before delivering it to WebSphere MQ. WebSphere Replication Server then picks up the changes from WebSphere MQ and applies the changes to the target database. WebSphere Classic Replication Server maintains transactional integrity and is fully recoverable.
WebSphere Classic Replication Server leverages a common infrastructure with WebSphere Classic Federation Server for z/OS and WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher for z/OS, including the Classic Data Architect GUI metadata management tool.
WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R54) makes it easy to link changed-data events with business processes as well as drive change-only updating of data warehouses, data marts, and operational data stores. WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher features support the capture of changes made to IMS, VSAM, Computer Associates CA-IDMS, and Software AG Adabas data and the publishing of these changes to WebSphere MQ queues. Changes are captured during active log or journal processing or by reading source-specific recovery logs. Captured data is automatically reformatted into a consistent relational format before packaging into either XML or delimited values format for publishing. Transactional integrity is maintained and recovery is enabled for all sources. Any application, tool, or service that integrates either with WebSphere MQ directly or supports Java Message Service can asynchronously receive the data changes as they occur.
WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher features enable database events to initiate business processes. For example, a change in an inventory value could be used to drive a product restocking workflow, or the addition of a customer record could initiate a new customer process that includes a welcome e-mail, credit verification, and accounting update. This creates an application-independent, loosely coupled integration that is more adaptable to changing application environments. For example, while multiple applications may impact the value of the inventory level, a single point of integration the data is driving the workflow. Changes to the applications that impact the inventory level can be made with no impact on the data event-driven integration. Business can realize faster time to market because integration captures the event in a single location, is more stable, and is easier to maintain.
Additionally, WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher solutions can deliver changes to Extract, Transform, and Load tools like WebSphere DataStage®, or custom-built processes for updating operational data stores or data warehouses, minimizing bandwidth requirements and keeping target databases updated in near real time. Businesses can utilize information that is far more current for tactical and operational decision making.
This release provides Classic Data Architect, a new Eclipse-based GUI tool for interactive and dynamic metadata management, as well as new VSAM journal-based capture agents requiring minimal logging resources, and a new VSAM file-based capture agent that captures changes made by batch applications. These new VSAM capture agents extend the power of the pre-Version 9.1 VSAM agent that uses forward recovery logs.
WebSphere Data Integration Classic Connector for z/OS, V9.1(5655-R57) is a new product that provides all the data access capabilities of WebSphere Classic Federation Server (5655-R52) and all of the data event publishing capabilities of WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R54) licensed and priced specifically for use with IBM WebSphere DataStage, WebSphere QualityStage, IBM Information Server, and other selected products in the Information Integration Solutions portfolio. WebSphere Data Integration Classic Connector is ideal for you if you plan to use data access or data event publishing only with these selected Information Integration Solutions products.
The unrestricted WebSphere Classic Federation Server (5655-R52) is the right product for you if you want to leverage the benefits of mainframe data access more broadly in your enterprise; for example, for connecting an enterprise portal to human resource data or accounting data that resides in IMS, VSAM, or other database systems on System z. The unrestricted WebSphere Classic Data Event Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 is the right product for you if you want to leverage the benefits of data event publishing more broadly; for example, for monitoring critical events, initiating business processes, and for application-to-application integration.
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
The products in this announcement are capable as of their planned availability, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it.
Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible zSeries® IPLA programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zSeries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity." Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit-priced programs offers additional price benefits for customers. The quantity of each zSeries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as "entitled license capacity." If you want to grow your entitled license capacity for a zSeries IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit Pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to VUs or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

Ordering example:
The total number of Value Units is calculated according to the following example.
If your required license capacity is 1,500 MSUs for your selected zSeries IPLA product, the applicable Value Units would be:
Translation from MSUs to Value Units
MSUs * Value Units/MSU = Value Units
Base 3 * 1.00 = 3.00
Tier A 42 * .45 = 18.90
Tier B 130 * .36 = 46.80
Tier C 140 * .27 = 37.80
Tier D 1,185 * .20 = 237.00
Total 1,500 343.50
When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.

Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone during normal business hours and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced previously and the appropriate license or charge option.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Support (IAAS). This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone during normal business hours.
- Entitles customers to future releases and versions at no additional charge. Note that the customer is not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will renew automatically annually unless cancelled by the customer.
Single version charging: To elect single version charging, the customer must notify and identify to IBM the prior program and replacement program and the machine the programs are operating on.
Customized Offerings
Product media is shipped only via Customized Offerings (for example, CBPDO, ServerPac,
SystemPac®). Noncustomized items (CDs, diskettes, source media, media kits) will continue to be
shipped via the stand-alone product.

Program support: Enhanced Support, called Subscription and Support, includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours) as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. - The zSeries IPLA program you select
- The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- The applicable terms
- Whether your current mainframes are full-capacity or sub-capacity
For more information on the Value Unit Exhibit for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Ordering information section.

Execution-based: The required capacity of a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the zSeries IPLA program executes.
z/OS-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS (and z/OS.e) on the machines where the zSeries IPLA program executes.
Reference-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the "parent" program.
Full machine-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with full machine-based terms equals the MSU rated capacity of the machines where the zSeries IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU rated capacities, refer to The System z Machines Exhibit (Z125-3901) or visit the "Mainframes" section of the zSeries Exhibits Web site
For more information on sub-capacity zSeries IPLA terms and conditions, refer to 204-184
Additional information for products with reference-based terms
zSeries IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the zSeries IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. Customers may have one or more different environments across their enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each zSeries IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the zSeries IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one
- That meets the criteria defined in Hardware Announcement 198-001, dated January 13, 1998
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the Sysplex
Sub-capacity eligibility: To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select zSeries IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be zSeries (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS (or z/OS.e) operating systems
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued
- All instances of the z/OS operating (or z/OS.e) systems must be running in z/Architecture (64-bit) mode
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the zSeries Software Pricing Web site
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement Attachment for IBM System z Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement Attachment for EWLC, TWLC, zELC, and z/OS.e License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract Amendment for IBM System z9 and eServer zSeries Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous zSeries IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off Capacity on Demand
To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary
capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract Z125-6611, Attachment for
Customer Initiated Upgrade and IBM eServer On/Off Capacity on Demand Software must be signed
prior to use.
