| Overview |
Over 2.3 million developers worldwide use Eclipse as a development environment independent of commercial tools. Development organizations are reluctant to build mission-critical applications with tools that have inadequate support and accountability.
IBM Rational® Elite Support for Eclipse provides world-class technical support for Eclipse, the open source development environment from the Eclipse Foundation. It provides the support needed to confidently develop in the Eclipse environment.
This offering includes support for the Eclipse Platform, including the Java Development Toolkit (JDT) and its Plug-in Development Environment (PDE).
Support will also be provided for the following projects and frameworks associated with the Eclipse platform:
- Web Tools Platform (WTP)
- Test and Performance Tools Platform (TPTP)
- Graphical Editing Framework (GEF)
- Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF)

IBM Rational Support for Eclipse Support offering terms
- General customers: IBM will provide support only for the copies of software covered under your agreement.
- For Independent Software Vendor (ISV), Systems Integrator (SI) or Solution Providers (SP): IBM will provide support only for the copies of software covered under the agreement during the internal development and maintenance phases of the solutions. Do not contact IBM with support issues that may arise from your end customers' usage of the product unless you have an OEM contract with IBM.
- Technical support is in English only and is available for worldwide purchase.
IBM Rational Elite Support for Eclipse
IBM Rational Elite Support for Eclipse provides expert technical support specific to usage and defects for Eclipse, the open source development environment from the Eclipse Foundation. IBM Rational Elite Support for Eclipse provides the support you need to confidently develop in the Eclipse environment.
Because the IBM Rational Elite Support for Eclipse offering is for an open source software project, all fixes and code are provided through the official Eclipse.org Web site and organization. IBM will deliver all fixes to the open source project.
There is no guarantee that all fixes will be incorporated into the official Eclipse code stream, as such decisions are made by the Eclipse community. Although IBM does not deliver the fix directly to you, IBM can not guarantee that the fixes submitted to the Eclipse Foundation will be accepted and distributed. IBM does intend to help provide you with timely resolutions for problems you experience.
IBM will provide a list of supported projects, versions, releases or modifications of Eclipse on the IBM Rational Elite Support for Eclipse Web support page
Each previously identified supported release of Eclipse will be supported for two years after it is officially available from Eclipse.org. Minor modifications (for example, 3.2.x) of Eclipse will be supported only as long as the major release that it is derived from.
The annual, renewable subscription support offering is priced per user. Support is delivered via our remote support teams- on-site support is not provided.

Customer responsibilities: Software Maintenance is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Installation and technical support is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances your productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support organizations.
