October 6, 2006: IMS Sysplex Manager for z/OS, V1.2 (5655-P01)
IBM offers more than 80 tools that feature common interfaces and cross-tool integration, tested
under the same configurations and workloads as the databases they support. In the emerging era of
autonomic computing, DB2 and IMS tools will become increasingly self-managed in terms of dynamically
monitoring and managing data, and taking responsibility for decision making and initiating action.
Application management
DB2 Path Checker for z/OS, V3.1 (5697-N57)
helps you increase the stability of your DB2 environments and avoid painful and costly disruptions.
It can help you discover and correct unwanted and unexpected access path changes before you are
notified about them.
The new functions include:
-
ISPF to support access to the compare function.
-
//BINDIN to generate commands from bind control cards. Path Checker will parse the bind control
cards and perform a Path Checker command for each plan or package specified for BIND or REBIND.
-
COMPARE TO PREVIOUS VERSION will skip multiple binds for the latest version and compare the access
path to the prior version. This is useful when a program has been rebound multiple times due to an
access path issue.
-
A history table for a summary of changes detected in Path Checker processing. This table contains
the same information as the SYSCHG ddname report.
-
ANLOUT support for the COMPARE command if the full SQL is available in SYSIBM.SYSSTMT or
SYSIBM.SYSPACKSTMT.
-
DSN_STATEMNT_TABLE data has been added to EXPLAIN TO processing so the cost estimates will be saved
when the access data is saved.
-
Structure change summary is included in the SYSPRINT report when the tables are accessed in a
different sequence.
-
OPTIONS CREATE TABLES create PLAN_TABLE and DSN_STATEMNT_TABLE if the tables are not predefined.
-
The SYSPRINT report headings are improved and all DEGREE ANY access data is in a separate line.
Database administration
DB2 Audit Management Expert for z/OS, V1.1 (5655-I16)
provides the ability to selectively audit inserts, updates, deletes, and reads in DB2 systems. DB2
Audit Management Expert can help your IT staff meet the ever-growing requirements placed on them for
achieving regulatory compliance. This easy-to-use tool allows you to view all reported activity on
specific DB2 objects (such as read, change, and utility access), generate meaningful reports to
report on the data collected in the audit repository, and perform a log analysis of collected data.
DB2 Audit Management Expert separates the roles of auditing and database administration, freeing up
valuable resources needed to support auditing requests. It removes the requirement that auditors be
privileged users on the systems they are auditing. Used in combination with DB2 Data Archive Expert
for z/OS, V2.1 (5697-J22), DB2 Audit Management Expert provides a comprehensive audit retention
strategy for the enterprise to help you take control and maintain standards in today's regulatory
environment.
-
Centralized easy-to-use tools for your auditing needs.
The reporting interface is designed for
auditors to facilitate common auditing tasks such as determining who updated a particular object in
a certain time frame or monitoring unauthorized access for specific systems or objects. In
addition, auditors can perform detailed log analysis for any changes being monitored by DB2 Audit
Management Expert.
-
Customized data collection capabilities.
Filter policies can be defined for the collection of
audit data. Data collection can be filtered based on any combination of:
-
DB2 objects
-
DB2 user IDs
-
Applications connecting to DB2
-
Time
The filters can be exported or imported using XML files to other audit servers, or assigned to
another DB2 system within the same audit server. This allows for filters created for common tables,
such as SAP, to be created once and then used at other DB2 servers where the same application tables
are installed.
-
Comprehensive reporting facilities with multiple options to view and report on collected data.
Robust reporting options enable auditors to view and report on data from several perspectives:
-
Overview of all the subsystems currently being monitored
-
Subsystem view of activity for a selected subsystem
-
Detail view for a particular type of activity for a selected subsystem
-
A separate administration user interface.
The separate user-friendly administration interface
enables product administrators to easily define Audit Management Expert entities such as users and
groups and collection criteria. The interface presents administrative tasks in readily identifiable
categories such as Users, Groups, and Collection Profiles. It employs a series of easy-to-use
wizards to guide the administrator through each administrative task.
-
Detailed log analysis.
To report on data changes, the log analysis feature gives you the
ability to:
-
Set filtering criteria for reporting data changes by date ranges and Insert, Update, and Delete
activity.
-
View who modified audited tables in a DB2 system and see the actual changes made to the tables.
-
Easily input the information needed for log analysis. Selection capability is provided to allow you
to refine the amount of information returned.
IMS Sysplex Manager for z/OS, V1.2 (5655-P01)
helps IMS system programmers, operations personnel, DBAs, and help-desk personnel administer an IMS
Sysplex environment by centralizing Sysplex information through a single interface. This enables
you to drill down to the areas you need to access in order to keep IMS availability high. The tool
provides features that assist you in managing data sharing, shared message queues, and IMSplex

Information integration
New products and new product versions offer enhanced data replication and data event publishing
capabilities as part of the full Information Integration Solutions portfolio, which delivers
information you can trust.
WebSphere Data Event Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R56)
is the next version of WebSphere Information Integrator Event Publisher for DB2 Universal Database
(UDB) for z/OS, V8.2 (5655-M36). It makes it easy for data events to initiate business processes.
Database changes in DB2 UDB for z/OS are captured, formatted into self-describing XML messages, and
published to WebSphere MQ message queues. These changed data events can then be received and used
by WebSphere application and process integration middleware, by a Java Message Service-aware
application or tool, or by a message broker to drive subsequent processing.
Event publishing provides efficient changed-data publishing environments for the following types of
business scenarios:
-
Application-to-application integration. Changed-data event publishing makes it possible to push
operational customer data to a packaged Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application.
-
Business process initiation. Changed-data event publishing allows a customer record to initiate a
welcome e-mail, credit verification, and an update to the CRM system.
-
Critical data event monitoring. Changed-data event monitoring allows events such as low inventory
levels to trigger a process such as product restocking workflow.
-
Data population. Changed-data event publishing can feed a data warehouse, data mart, or operational
data store by pushing changed data to IBM WebSphere DataStage® or another extract, transform, and
load product that then populates the data store.
Refer to the
Supplemental information
section for information about WebSphere Data Event Publisher enhancements.
WebSphere Data Integration Connector for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R93)
is a new product that provides all the data event publishing capabilities of WebSphere Data Event
Publisher for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R56) at a lower price but licensed specifically for use with IBM
WebSphere DataStage, WebSphere QualityStage, and other selected products in the Information
Integration Solutions portfolio. WebSphere Data Integration Connector is ideal for you if you plan
to use data event publishing only with these selected Information Integration Solutions products.
WebSphere Data Event Publisher for z/OS is the right product for you if you want to leverage the
benefits of data event publishing more broadly; for example, for monitoring critical events,
initiating business processes, and for application-to-application integration.
WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R55)
provides an enhanced level of the SQL-based data replication and queue-based data replication (Q
replication) that is available today in WebSphere Information Integrator Replication for z/OS, V8.2
(5655-L88).
WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS is packaged such that you can purchase SQL-based replication

IMS Command Control Facility for z/OS, V2.1 (5655-R58)
has no peers when it comes to processing IMS commands across as many as 64 IMS regions on any number
of z/OS images. It provides database command response verification and command conversion, and
simulates IMS responses. IMS Command Control Facility for z/OS, V2.1 offers the following new
features and enhancements:
-
IMS Command Control Facility Message Log improves problem determination and system operation whether
running a single IMS or a multi-IMSplex by:
-
Using the IMS Automated Operator Interface (AOI) exit (DFSAOE00) to write messages to a z/OS Logger
log stream while still supporting a user AOI exit
-
Tracking IMS commands and responses issued from the IMS Operations Manager (OM)
-
Optionally, defining a z/OS Logger log stream to the Coupling Facility and sharing the IMS Command
Control Facility message log between all members of an IMSplex
-
Providing an ISPF dialog to issue commands to a single IMS or all members of an IMSplex while
viewing the active IMS Command Control Facility message log
-
Archiving the IMS Command Control Facility message log for historical problem determination
-
Viewing commands and responses for a particular user or node
-
IMS Operations Manager support. IMS Command Control Facility for z/OS, V1.1 requires Advanced
Program-to-Program Communication (APPC)/IMS or APPC/z/OS to route commands to other z/OS images.
Adding IMS OM support to IMS Command Control Facility for z/OS, V2.1 provides additional flexibility
by:
-
Issuing commands to non-APPC-enabled IMS regions running in different z/OS images
-
Supporting IMS type-2 (OM) commands
-
Formatting IMS type-2 (OM) command responses
-
Additional wildcard support for:
-
/ASSIGN commands with the TRAN parameter
-
/START, /STOP, and /DISPLAY PROGRAM commands
-
Message Disposition Determination. Many customers use the AOI user exit to either suppress messages
destined for the secondary master or route messages to alternate destinations. With IMS Command
Control Facility for z/OS, V2.1, you can improve/eliminate customer-written code. It:
-
Suppresses messages from the IMS secondary master
-
Suppresses messages from the IMS Command Control Facility message log
-
Routes messages to an alternate destination

Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
The products in this announcement are capable as of their planned availability, when used in
accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section
508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly
interoperates with it.
Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible zSeries® IPLA programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth
and enterprise aggregation. Each zSeries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price
per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some
designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the
measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines
or messages. Because MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the
remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zSeries IPLA program with Value
Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is
referred to as the "required license capacity." Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate
that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value
Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature
VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit-priced programs offers additional price benefits for
customers. The quantity of each zSeries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as
"entitled license capacity." If you want to grow your entitled license capacity for a zSeries IPLA
program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of
Value Units already acquired.
For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
-
Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
-
Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
-
Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
-
Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to Value Units or vice-versa, use the Value
Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter
Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged,
interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the zSeries IPLA program
you selected, refer to the
Terms and conditions
section.

WebSphere® Data Event Publisher for z/OS®, V9.1 (5655-R56)
facilitates business integration by linking changed data events with business processes. WebSphere
Data Event Publisher enhancements include:
-
Performance. Q Capture performance is improved by providing additional multi-threading. Log
reading and the gathering of committed transactions is now asynchronous to the rest of the data
capture activities. This change helps the performance of Q Capture in all environments and
especially in DB2® for z/OS data sharing configurations.
-
Customization. More flexibility is provided for managing storage requirements in a Q replication
environment. If you have high volumes of changes during load operations, then you will likely
experience increased scalability because of this enhancement.
-
Usability. Additional integration with WebSphere MQ is achieved by presenting lists of WebSphere MQ
objects when needed during setup, and by checking these WebSphere MQ objects against the
requirements of the Q replication engine program. The Replication Alert Monitor has been enhanced
to provide the ability to suspend the monitor program during specified periods. A new live monitor
tool graphically displays real-time latency and throughput information. You can see at a glance the
current latency and throughput and replication program activity.
-
Interactive MQ Checklist. This is a dynamic graphical checklist used to set up the WebSphere MQ
objects needed for Q replication. Setup scripts and a customized procedure for running the scripts
are automatically generated for use at each MQ server.
WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1 (5655-R55)
Q replication
delivers low-latency, high-throughput replication with managed conflict detection and resolution to
support business continuity and workload distribution. Committed changes are published to WebSphere
MQ message queues. A sophisticated apply engine determines transaction dependencies and replays
transactions on target systems to maximize parallelism and minimize latency. Data can be replicated
to and from DB2 databases on System z or, by interoperating with WebSphere Replication Server for
Linux, UNIX®, or Windows, data can be replicated to and from DB2 databases on Linux, UNIX,
and Windows. Data can also be replicated from supported DB2 sources to other relational database
management systems like Informix, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase.
Q replication enhancements include:
-
Performance. The performance of Q replication data capture (Q Capture) is improved by providing
additional multi-threading. Log reading and the gathering of committed transactions is now
asynchronous to the rest of the data capture activities. This change helps the performance of Q
Capture in all environments and especially in DB2 for z/OS data sharing configurations.
-
New replication target type. Q replication can now be used to replicate data into uniquely
structured target tables (CCDs) that can be used for audit and history tables in the same way as can
be done with SQL replication. If you use Q replication, this provides important capability, or if
you use SQL replication today, it gives you the opportunity to move to Q replication if you choose.
-
Customization. More flexibility is provided for managing storage requirements for loads in a Q
replication environment by allowing model queues to be defined at the subscription level. If you
have high volumes of changes during load operations, then you will likely experience increased
scalability because of this enhancement.
-
You will be able to see at
a glance the current latency and throughput and replication program activity.
-
Interactive MQ Checklist. This is a dynamic graphical checklist used to set up the WebSphere MQ
objects needed for Q replication. Setup scripts and a customized procedure for running the scripts
are automatically generated for use at each MQ server.
SQL-based replication
architecture maximizes flexibility in managing scheduling, transformation, and distribution
topologies efficiently and effectively for populating warehouses or marts, maintaining data
consistency between disparate applications, or efficiently managing distribution and consolidation
scenarios among headquarters and branch or retail configurations.
-
The replication server supports distribution (moving data from one database to many) and
consolidation (moving data from many databases to one) scenarios.
-
Data can be filtered either horizontally or vertically so that only the data you are interested in
is replicated.
-
Transformation can be applied inline with the data movement via standard SQL expressions or stored
procedure execution.
-
Data movement can be automated on a specific schedule, at designated intervals, continuously, or
event driven.
-
Data movement can be managed table-at-a-time such as for warehouse loading during batch windows or
with transaction consistency for data that is never offline.
SQL replication is widely used today. Because there is value in using the newer Q replication along
with SQL replication, a trade-up is available from the SQL Replicating of DB2 feature of WebSphere
Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1 to the SQL Replicating and Q Replicating of DB2 feature of
WebSphere Replication Server for z/OS, V9.1.

For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to
satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity." Your
required license capacity is based upon the following factors:
-
The zSeries IPLA program you select
-
The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
-
The applicable terms
-
Whether your current mainframes are full-capacity or sub-capacity

Ordering example:
The total number of Value Units is calculated according to the following example.
If your required license capacity is 1,500 MSUs for your selected zSeries IPLA product, the
applicable Value Units would be:
Translation from MSUs to Value Units
MSUs * Value Units/MSU = Value Units
Base 3 * 1.00 = 3.00
Tier A 42 * .45 = 18.90
Tier B 130 * .36 = 46.80
Tier C 140 * .27 = 37.80
Tier D 1,185 * .20 = 237.00
Total 1,500 343.50
When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.

Sub-capacity terms and conditions
For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to
satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity." Your
required license capacity is based upon the following factors:
-
The zSeries IPLA program you select
-
The applicable Value Unit Exhibit
-
The applicable terms
-
Whether your current mainframes are full-capacity or sub-capacity
For more information on the Value Unit Exhibit for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to

Full-capacity mainframes:
In cases where full-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply:
Execution-based, z/OS-based, full-machine-based:
The required capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU rated capacity of
the machines where the zSeries IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU rated capacities, visit
Reference-based:
The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these
terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license
charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the
parent
program.
Sub-capacity mainframes:
In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms
apply:
Execution-based:
The required capacity of a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with these
terms equals the capacity of the LPARs where the zSeries IPLA program
executes.
z/OS-based:
The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these
terms equals the license capacity of z/OS (and z/OS.e) on the machines
where the zSeries IPLA program executes.
Full machine-based:
The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with full
machine-based terms equals the MSU rated capacity of the machines where
the zSeries IPLA program executes.
For more information on mainframe MSU rated capacities, refer to
IBM System z Machines Exhibit
(Z125-3901) or visit the "Mainframes" section of the zSeries Exhibits Web
site
For more information on sub-capacity zSeries IPLA terms and conditions,
refer to

Additional information for products with reference-based terms: zSeries
IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms add value to the
parent program across the environment, regardless of where in environment
the zSeries IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single/stand-alone machine or a
qualified Parallel Sysplex®. Customers may have one or more different
environments across their enterprise. To determine the required license
capacity for each zSeries IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each
environment should be assessed separately.
When a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is
used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license
capacity of the zSeries IPLA program must equal with the license capacity
of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel
Sysplex refers to one
-
That meets the criteria defined in Hardware Announcement letter 198-001,
dated January 13, 1998
-
Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the Sysplex
Sub-capacity eligibility:
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select zSeries IPLA
programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either
sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry
Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC,
a machine must be zSeries (or equivalent). On that machine:
-
All instances of the OS/390 operating system must be migrated to the z/OS
(or z/OS.e) operating systems
-
Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued
-
All instances of the z/OS operating (or z/OS.e) systems must be running
in z/Architecture (64-bit) mode
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM
each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the
Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to
obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the zSeries Software Pricing Web site
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering,
whichever is applicable:
-
The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the
IBM Customer Agreement "Attachment for IBM System z Workload Charges
(Z125-6516)."
-
The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in
the IBM Customer Agreement "Attachment for EWLC, TWLC, zELC, and
z/OS.e License Charges (Z125-6587)."
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions
specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract "Amendment for System
z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929)." Once the amendment is
signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous zSeries
IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference
product and machine.
On/Off Capacity on Demand
To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary
capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract Z125-6611, Attachment for
Customer Initiated Upgrade and IBM eServer On/Off Capacity on Demand Software must be signed
prior to use.
