Overview

The following are updates to Software Announcement 206-060 , dated March 14, 2006, which announced the IBM Tivoli^® Storage Manager Express V5.3 products.

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Express (5608-TES) Client Interface requires that a Java™ Virtual Machine (JVM) be installed. To make it easier for you, IBM is including a tested version of IBM JVM in the client package, which is automatically installed as part of the backup client install process. This will save you from having to download JVM. It will require, however, 85 MB of disk space rather than the 40 MB originally announced.
• When you use client push code, also known as software deployment, from the Tivoli Storage Manager Express Server™ interface, you can push out and install the backup client on computers you want to backup. The code requires 200 MB of free space to send the client install package over, unzip it, and install it.
• The Description section for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Express for Microsoft™ SQL (5608-TEQ) incorrectly stated that Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 is supported. Only Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 are supported. The Software requirements section includes the correct information.

The following is an update to Software Announcement 206-058 , dated March 14, 2006, which announced IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Advanced Copy Services V5.3.

• IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases (5608-APD) is not required for Tivoli Storage Manager for Advanced Copy Services (5608-ACS) in an SAP environment, as mistakenly stated in the pricing examples in the announcement.
