WebSphere® Transformation Extender is a leading universal transformation engine, ready to be
deployed in any infrastructure to integrate data across the enterprise. This transaction-oriented
solution automates the transformation and validation of high-volume and complex data without the
need for hand-coding.
For many integration systems, complex data structures (such as EDI documents) require significant
programming to process. Specialized deployment and data normalization are also frequently required
and are duplicated between projects and infrastructures. WebSphere Transformation Extender supports
complex data types, including XML, non-XML, binary, and mixed data types.
WebSphere Transformation Extender can deploy the same transformation, validation, and routing in
virtually any infrastructure or operating environment. You can easily deploy WebSphere

WebSphere Transformation Extender is a powerful enhancement to the native transformation
capabilities included in other WebSphere products. It can be deployed directly within other
WebSphere products or as a stand-alone or embedded transformation engine.

Features such as step in, step out breakpoints and inspection of data while it changes are part of
the debugger. The debugger is a built-in component of the Design Studio Map Designer. You never
need to leave the Map Designer to develop, debug test, and performance-tune your transformations.

New Page Settings Assistant for Maps
gives you an automated method to quickly determine a tuned configuration for the workspace.

New padding options
enable you to accept or reject in validation when a required data element contains only pad
characters. This replaces and highly optimizes previous methods of mapping and metadata
combinations that provide the same function.

New activity-based documentation
groups manuals and help sections that are targeted to activities you are performing rather than a
tool you are working in.
Management

New system grouping
enables you to decide which systems should be grouped together in one process when using the
WebSphere Transformation Extender Launcher. Now you can decide how to group based on performance
and maintenance requirements.

New dynamic trace activation
toggles traces during execution of transformations in the WebSphere Transformation Extender Launcher
without needing to stop and restart the transformations. This switch is available at the system in
the Launcher Management Console.

New single adapter trace file
consolidates all of the trace files that previously were produced into one file in a standard
format. Consolidation makes reading and understanding the information in the trace file easy.

New dynamic and granular logging
enables you to choose the appropriate level of logging that your transformations need and when they
need it. You can turn logging on or off and change the amount of information logged without
stopping the launcher or any of the systems deployed.
Performance

New map profiler
enables you to performance-tune your transformations. You can examine in detail how long every rule
in every map takes to execute and how many times each rule was executed.

You can run the profiler directly in the Design Studio IDE or from the command line on the
production system. With this flexibility you can address bottlenecks directly in development and
your production environments.

Enhanced launcher map initiation
offers an optimized execution when triggering maps from the WebSphere Transformation Extender
Launcher. Map triggering now happens faster than previous versions. Running in a high transaction
environment is even easier with the launcher.

Enhanced Base64 and quoted-printable performance
turns the Base64 and quoted-printable adapters into native mapping functions, resulting in a
significant performance increase. The current adapter method of Base64 and quoted-printable are
still supported.
Connectivity

Enhanced adapter command line
enables you to enter up to 2000 bytes on the command line for each adapter.

Enhanced FTP adapter
gives more options to integrate WebSphere Transformation Extender and ftp. A new TIMEOUT parameter
controls how long to wait for the connection to an ftp server before returning an error. You can
use the
Success
parameter to configure selected return codes from your ftp server as being successful. Use the
Fail
parameter to configure selected return codes as an error and to disconnect.

New support for IBM Lotus Notes® V5 and V6
connects to the latest versions of Notes® and uses features such as marking sent e-mail as read.

WebSphere Transformation Extender industry packs add powerful and enhanced function to give you the

WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for HIPAA EDI V4.1
Standards

New X12 5010 999 acknowledgment
connects you with your partners using any of the industry accepted standards by returning the X12
4010 997, 4050 824, or 5010 999.

New healthcare claims attachments
keep you up to date with the latest developments in the standards community by implementing the
upcoming HIPAA claims attachment standard. You can use the 4050 275 and 277 transactions with
embedded XML and perform all WEDI/SNIP validations on the EDI and XML validation on the claim
attachment. You can then perform any transformation and routing needed in your business process.

Enhanced space padding validation
enforces stricter HIPAA validation in the front end of your data processing system by rejecting
required data elements that contain spaces.
Flexibility

New readable acknowledgments
give business users the opportunity to participate with ease in the HIPAA EDI process by
transforming the results of HIPAA compliance into a readable HTML format as opposed to the X12
acknowledgements.

New mapping tree
optimizes your transformations by using a tree that defines all of the HIPAA documents but provides
no validation checks. This is useful when you know the data has already been validated and now want
to transform the data.

New optional grouping of 997s by GS06
enables you to work with partners and internal control systems in a more flexible manner by
controlling how the 997s are structured.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for X12 V2.6
supports the latest X12 5020 standard.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for EDIFACT V2.6
supports the new EDIFACT D04A and D04B standards.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for SWIFTNet Fin V4.1.1
is compatible with WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.0 and enables you to choose the best
infrastructure for your environment.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager V7.7
supports new standards.

supporting X12 5020 and EDIFACT D04A and D04B allow you to choose the best standard to integrate
with your partners.

New HIPAA acknowledgements
implement the latest HIPAA acknowledgment standards and give you the ability to integrate with your
partners in the most flexible and powerful method for you and your partner. You can now return the
4010 997, 4050 824, and the 5010 999.

increases your productivity by allowing global changes to post offices in one simple command rather
than manually changing each post office.

New TPEC to WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager partner conversion
tool automates some of the migration procedures when moving from TPEC.

New automated, online traffic archiving
enables you to configure archiving during the best times for your production process. Message
processing continues during archiving.

New unique transaction and group control numbers
optionally validate that group and transaction set control numbers are unique.

Enhanced TA1 function
generates a TA1 in more places and under more error conditions than before while sending the TA1
back to the partner. With this new function you can automate processing for significant errors that
would result in a TA1.

New data archiving options
deliver more choices to archive the transmissions. Choices include inbound transmission as
delivered to Trading Manager, outbound transmissions as delivered to Trading Manager, and outbound
interchanges after re-enveloping.

New GS05 decimal seconds
support allows the time to be expressed in the full range as defined in the X12 standard.

New optional grouping of 997 by GS06
enables you to work with partners and internal control systems in a more flexible manner by
controlling how the 997s are structured.
Product structure
WebSphere Transformation Extender delivers solutions targeted to any environment and optional
components to deliver fast time to value.
Base editions
provide the infrastructure and components necessary for production data transformation environments.
Base editions are targeted to an operating environment, such as an ESB with WebSphere Message
Broker. All implementations have one or more base editions, depending on the enterprise
architecture and where WebSphere Transformation Extender will be implemented.
Development tooling
includes packages for developing transformations and interfacing WebSphere Transformation Extender
to a custom programming environment. All WebSphere Transformation Extender implementations include
at least one WebSphere Transformation Extender Design Studio tooling package to develop, test, and
tune transformations and metadata.
Optional WebSphere Transformation Extender components
deliver significant value in the development and implementation of WebSphere Transformation
Extender. For example, for HIPAA compliance and data transformation integration, WebSphere
Transformation Extender Pack for HIPAA EDI contains prebuilt data transformations, metadata, and
HIPAA data compliance routines that can significantly decrease the development effort while
increasing the quality of the deployed application.
Base editions
All base editions include the WebSphere Transformation Extender transformation engine. Most of the
adapters for integrating with other technologies in the enterprise, such as WebSphere MQ, are
included. The adapters not included are those for connection to Web services and encryption
protocols. For more information on optional packages, refer to the
Optional components
section.
WebSphere Transformation Extender
package is used to deploy transformations in custom programming environments. APIs and interfaces
such as C, Java, EJB, COBOL, and others are available to integrate the transformation engine into
your environment or program. This package is used when you want to call directly from your
application into the transformation engine.
WebSphere Transformation Extender with Command Server
allows the transformation engine to be called directly from a command line, shell script, or timer.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Command Server is a powerful command-line driven environment to
control the execution of a transformation. This package is often used to extend an existing
application and infrastructure with minimal intrusion.
WebSphere Transformation Extender with Launcher
includes the WebSphere Transformation Extender Launcher and the Command Server. The Launcher
activates transformations based on triggers. Triggers can be a file creation, a message arriving on
an IBM MQ Queue, a DBMS trigger, a timer and many other options as well as combinations of triggers.
The Launcher provides an online runtime environment that synchronizes and controls complicated data
transformations while maintaining and optimizing the execution environment for the transformations.
Tooling
Tooling consists of the development tools required to develop transformations and metadata and
optionally interface WebSphere Transformation Extender with a custom programming environment.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Design Studio
contains a GUI IDE where transformations and metadata are developed, imported, tested and
performance tuned. A WebSphere Transformation Extender Design Studio is used for any of the base
editions. After the transformations are developed, tested, and tuned in Design Studio, the
transformation is moved to the base edition for system test and production execution.
WebSphere Transformation Extender SDK
provides the development environment for all of the APIs such as C, Java, EJB, and COBOL to
integrate custom programming environments directly to WebSphere Transformation Extender. In
addition, custom adapters for WebSphere Transformation Extender can be developed using this SDK and
deployed in any base edition. The SDK does not include the Design Studio. The SDK is needed only
to develop a custom adapter for any base edition or when using the WebSphere Transformation Extender
base edition.
Optional components
The optional WebSphere Transformation Extender components enhance the environment and capabilities
of WebSphere Transformation Extender and extend the environments in which it can operate out of the
box.
WebSphere Transformation Extender industry packs
WebSphere Transformation Extender industry packs contain out-of-the-box predefined metadata for data
formats used extensively in business-to-business (B2B) applications. Some of the industry packs
also contain compliance routines and example transformations. These packs decrease time to
deployment and increase the application quality by delivering reusable components that have
extensive industry implementation. WebSphere Transformation Extender Industry Packs work with any
base edition.

WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager
provides the capabilities for managing and controlling the B2B integration of partner relationships
and message flow. WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager users can audit, control,
monitor and view the entire B2B integration environment across the extended enterprise with secure
data exchange fully integrated with back-end systems. Trading Manager consists of two components:
Partner Manager (a graphical client for administering partner and trade link information) and
Message Manager (a run-time system that manages integration of inbound and outbound partner
messages).
WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager can integrate with IBM WebSphere Partner Gateway
to provide an end-to-end B2B integration environment.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager requires the WebSphere Transformation Extender
with Launcher base edition.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for Web Services
offers out-of-the-box capabilities to send Web Service requests to an SOA provider directly from a
transformation. WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for Web Services works with any base
edition.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Security Collection
provides additional adapters to encrypt and decrypt data according to many popular standards.
Adapters included are S/MIME, SSL, and OpenPGP. WebSphere Transformation Extender Security
Collection works with any base edition.
WebSphere Transformation Extender Event Agent
provides an inbound HTTP agent for WebSphere Transformation Extender. This allows WebSphere
Transformation Extender with Launcher to listen and respond to HTTP requests. WebSphere
Transformation Extender Event Agent requires the WebSphere Transformation Extender with Launcher
base edition.

Planning information
Installability:
To install on Windows platforms, use the provided launcher program (setup.exe) to install your
licensed products.
To install on UNIX® platforms, install only the runtime. Use the program (DSTXINST) to install on
UNIX platforms.
Migration from previous versions:
To take advantage of new features, recompiling is recommended. WebSphere Transformation
Extender V8, however, can run maps back to V5 without recompiling, unless those maps were used to
transform XML data. If XML data is transformed, WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.0 can run maps
from V6.7 and V7.5 without recompiling. Performance and ease-of-use enhancements in V8.0 will not
be realized. A wizard is included to guide you through the migration process for those trees into
the V8 format when you want to take advantage of the new XML features.
If you use a version before V6.7 for XML transformations, those type trees must be reimported from
their DTD or schema and the map adjusted accordingly in V8.
As before, multiple versions of WebSphere Transformation Extender base edition and Design Studio can
be run on the same machine. You must ensure the multiple versions do not conflict on the same
resources, such as a TCP/IP socket or a file.
Migrating from a previous version of WebSphere Transformation Extender Trading Manager is a
three-step process:

Run the included upgrade program to convert the Partner Manager information.
-
Run the EDI Wizard to build the new EDI tree.
-
Recompile and redeploy Message Manager.
When migrating from previous versions of WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for HIPAA EDI:

Review new configuration switches in compliance_check_parameter.dat.
-
Recompile and redeploy compliance_check map.
When migrating from previous versions of WebSphere Transformation Extender Pack for X12 or EDIFACT:
-
If using one of the new standards, use the new tree in the map.
-
If using a previous standard, no change is required.
Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is
included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by the
Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee
service enhances customer productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support
organizations.

Charge metrics definitions:
Processor:
A processor (commonly called a CPU or core) is a functional unit within a computing device
that interprets and executes instructions. A processor consists of at least an instruction control
unit and one or more arithmetic and/or logic unit. With multicore technology each core is
considered a processor. With full capacity licensing, a proof of entitlement (POE) must be acquired
for all activated processors on the server available to the program or a component of the program.
Authorized user:
An authorized user is one and only one individual (named or unnamed) within or outside Your
enterprise. A POE must be obtained for each individual user accessing the program in any manner. A
program licensed under an authorized user POE may be installed on a single computer or server, and
accessed by multiple users, provided that a POE has been obtained for each individual user accessing
the program either directly or indirectly (via a multiplexing program, device, or application
server) through any means on behalf of the user.
Server:
A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications
to one or more user and/or client devices over a network. A POE must be obtained for each server on
which the program or a component of the program is run or for each server managed by the program.
Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server.
Per application instance:
You are permitted to deploy and run one copy of the licensed product on one server. WebSphere
Transformation Extender Industry Packs are installed on the WebSphere Transformation Extender Design
Studio machine, but are licensed per application instance on the production, backup, and system test
servers. You may install the Industry Packs on any number of Design Studio servers, but can only
deploy them only to the number of servers that match how many application instances acquired.
Per establishment:
If you have acquired an establishment authorization, you are permitted to deploy an unlimited
number of copies of the licensed program only on servers owned or leased by you that are located at
a single physical site, including the surrounding campus and satellite offices.

This program includes a warranty for one year from acquisition from
IBM or an authorized IBM Business Partner. For one year from acquisition
of the program, this warranty provides the customer with access to
databases containing program information and FAQs, including any known
fixes to defects, which the customer can download or otherwise obtain and
install.
Program technical support:
Technical support of a program product will be available for a
minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as
your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows
you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for
product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and
operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you
with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers
will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support
with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from
IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date,
contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension
may be available for a fee.
Money-back guarantee:
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are
the original licensee, return it within 30 days from the invoice date to
the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it for a
refund.
For programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage
offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the
program.

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and
Technical Support, is included in the IBM International Passport
Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by
the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport
Advantage Agreement. This fee service provides voice and electronic
access to IBM support organizations.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license
acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software
Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if
available.
While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance
for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to)
questions; and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via
telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your IS technical
support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift
hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to
your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day,
every day of the year. For additional details, visit

development of applications, your use of programs in other than their
specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which
IBM is not responsible under this agreement.

higher systems availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides an
exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available on the IBM
eServer® platform. These services provide the opportunity for greater system availability due to
faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate but
complementary elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent™.
Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry
points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to
gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic Service Agent is no-additional charge software that resides on your IBM eServer
system. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic,
customer-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error
logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service
agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware
problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service
that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected
through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help
answer your questions or diagnose problems.
