Description

To help remain competitive in the ever-changing world of finance, IBM delivers WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for z/OS, V1.2. This is the IBM on demand financial messaging solution. It provides a single-window infrastructure to support integration of financial messaging applications used by financial institutions and corporations.

The extension, WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Bridge for SWIFTNet for z/OS, is designed for financial institutions that require access to the SWIFT Secure IP Network in z/OS environments.

Bridge for SWIFTNet provides services that allows customers to send FIN messages via the SIPN. It implements a SWIFT CBT that:

  • Carries out FIN message validation for all major message types
  • Implements the SWIFTNet FIN protocol, including the new Regional Processor (RP) User Resync protocol
  • Lets you operate and monitor a large number of SWIFTNet FIN logical terminal (LT) sessions
  • Uses SWIFT User Security Enhancements (USE) services such as Secure Login and Select (SLS) and Bilateral Key Exchange (BKE)

Bridge for SWIFTNet also provides the means to centrally:

  • Configure, administer, operate, and monitor a large number of SWIFTAlliance Gateways (SAGs) from within WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks
  • Issue SWIFTNet administration commands such as Local Registration Application (LRA), Key Management Authority (KMA), and Role Based Access Control (RBAC)

WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Bridge for SWIFTNet for z/OS, V1.2 delivers the following enhancements.

  • Customization improvements
  • TARGET2 authentication solution
  • SLS key request/response procedure
  • Support for Message Bulking Facility feature
  • Support for Financial Message Transfer feature
  • Command Audit for Secure Transmission Key (STK)
  • Dynamic LT allocation
  • Direct SAG access
  • SAG event template management
  • Trusted FIN application
  • Performance optimization
  • Enhanced message warehouse
  • Message counting by using WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker V5.0

Customization improvements

The customization model has changed. A new customization definition program is provided by WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base. The Bridge for SWIFTNet service bundle structure and the resource definition files are adapted to this new model in order to optimize the customization process.

TARGET2 authentication solution

Primarily the "TARGET2 authentication solution" aims to avoid all TARGET2 users having to exchange bilateral keys between themselves. The standard double authentication mechanism of the FIN Copy service TARGET2 is used unchanged when a bilateral key exists. But a predefined value is used in the MAC trailer when no key has been exchanged between the sender and receiver of the payment message.

SLS key request/response procedure

In case of a LOGIN or SELECT command and running out of pre-generated SLS-keys in the Bridge for SWIFTNet database, a new SLS-key is requested and received from the MERVA USE workstation.

Message Bulking Facility for SWIFTNet FIN (MBF)

MBF works with the Bridge for SWIFTNet feature for non-MERVA financial institutions.

Financial Message Transfer (FMT)

FMT works with the Bridge for SWIFTNet feature for non-MERVA financial institutions.

Command Audit for STK commands

To track user actions during STK maintenance, all commands are audited in the message audit log.

Terms and conditions

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement. Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) are required for all authorized use.

These products are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA), and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Support, which provides for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours) as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. S/390® and zSeries® IBM Operational Support Services — SoftwareXcel is an option for those customers who desire added services.

Limited warranty applies: Yes

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. For clarification, note that for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by the customer.

Copy and use on home/portable computer: No

Volume orders (IVO): No

Passport Advantage® applies: No

Usage restriction: Yes

Use limitation applies

Message-based pricing: Pricing for Bridge for SWIFTNet is based on the volume of "message units" used by a licensed user. "Message units" will be calculated for each program feature: A "message unit" is defined as a transaction that is external to the program. Such transactions are typically measured when leaving the program and entering a network (for example, SWIFT Secure IP Network) or company internal network or network access controller (such as the SWIFTAlliance Gateway), and when leaving a network or network access controller and entering the program.

Bridge for SWIFTNet: For this feature, it is important to note that a transaction may constitute a single "message unit" even though the transaction includes multiple messages. For example, a single SWIFTNet FIN message unit may consist of:

  1. The FIN message
  2. An associated InterAct message
  3. The acknowledgment message from SWIFTNet (ACK in case of a positive response) with its associated InterAct message

On the other hand, a business service may consist of multiple transactions that constitute multiple "message units." For example, when a SWIFTNet FIN payment order gets confirmed by the receiving bank, this constitutes two transactions and two message units.

The volume of "message units" that is relevant for pricing purposes is the total number of monthly message units of each service a licensed user sends and receives using the program based on the peak monthly message volume from the preceding 12 months.

Initial pricing: Initial pricing will be calculated based on either:

  • The customer's peak monthly messages from the history reports the customer provides for the preceding 12 months
  • The customer's estimation of its anticipated peak monthly message volume

If initial pricing was based on a customer's estimate, the customer shall utilize either the message counting procedure identified by IBM to create a message usage report or another message usage reporting mechanism agreed by IBM for extensions developed external to IBM for each month during the first six months. The customer agrees to send these six message usage reports to IBM in the seventh month for assessment of the monthly message volumes. If the peak monthly volume is higher than the estimate used in initial pricing, the customer will be charged for additional licenses and maintenance.

Subsequent pricing/annual adjustment: Pricing of the program for the second year and subsequent years will be reassessed based on relevant message-based usage reports provided by the customer. Appropriate pricing of the program for the following year will be determined based on the peak monthly volume in the preceding 12 months. In addition to the annual maintenance fees for the product originally licensed, additional license and maintenance fees will apply if the peak monthly volume is higher than the volume used in the prior year pricing calculation.

Duty of end users to cooperate: To support the message-based pricing described above, each end user of the program also agrees:

  1. To promptly install any enabling code required for message-based pricing.
  2. To collect and provide to IBM the relevant message usage report at least once per year, and to retain that data for at least six months after providing it to IBM.
  3. To measure message usage based on the latest message counting mechanism provided by IBM, and to conduct such measurements in accordance with new terms specified in new versions or releases of the program.
  4. To send to IBM the message usage report for each license of the program the end user possesses.
  5. That usage data which reflect increased usage will be deemed to be orders placed by the end user without further action on the end user's part, and that IBM is authorized to make any resulting billing increase. (Late submission of usage reports will result in retroactive billing.)
  6. That, for so long as message-based pricing remains in effect for the program, and for six months thereafter, IBM has the right to review the data used to prepare the usage report for the previous six months. The review will be at the end user's premises, at the mutual convenience of IBM and the end user, during the end user's normal business hours, and in a manner that minimizes disruption to the end user's business. IBM may use an independent auditor for this with the end user's prior approval, which will not be unreasonably withheld. If the end user prefers the review to occur off its premises, the end user may send data to IBM.
