Description

IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution is a new IBM software solution that helps companies manage performance and better execute their strategies.

Often companies feel that they have the right strategies, but fail to execute those strategies to the fullest extent possible. This shortfall happens for a myriad of reasons. However, some of the most common are lack of alignment among business units or processes, lack of accountability among decision makers, and a lag between the recognition of a problem and actions to resolve that problem.

IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution helps solve those difficult problems by allowing organizational objectives to be cascaded down an organization to ensure alignment. A company may have a series of high level objectives towards which everyone in the company should be working. IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution allows those objectives to be defined and cascaded down an organization in order to provide alignment to those objectives. Additionally, objectives can be linked to each other to show a holistic view of how a strategy impacts different parts of the organization.

Additionally, by providing detail on organizational objectives and access to back-end systems to provide metrics to employees, IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution helps employees be more accountable to those goals and make better decisions faster. Typically, only executives have access to robust scorecards and dashboards. IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution makes creating and rolling out role-based work environments simple and cost effective for any level employee.

Finally, with the tight integration of a myriad of collaborative tools, IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution makes it simple to take action once a problem is highlighted in order to solve it quickly.

Note: Users are responsible for identifying the business goals and objectives tracked by IBM Workplace for Business Strategy Execution. Users are also responsible for ensuring that the data supplied to Workplace for Business Strategy Execution by a user's other systems are accurate and adequate to track the progress of the user's business against its goals and objectives. Charge metrics definitions

Processor

In Full Capacity charging — Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) must be acquired for all activated "processors" (available for use) that are on the server where the program or a component of the program is run.

  1. If there are program components included in the offering whose function is not to be included in the charge metric, these must be listed in the Program-unique Terms of the License Information.
  2. IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and logic units.
  3. Multi-core technology allows two or more processors (commonly called "cores") to be active on a single silicon chip. Unless otherwise announced, with multi-core technology, IBM considers each "core" to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical processors residing on the single silicon chip.
  4. In the zSeries® Integrated Facility for Linux™ (IFL) environment, each IFL engine is considered a single "physical processor."
  5. Threading, a technique which makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does not affect the count of physical processors.
  6. Where "blade" technology is employed, each "blade" is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the program is run.

20 Users

Registered User: A Registered User, also known as a Named User (user), is an individual, machine, program, or device with a specific identity (ID) within or outside your enterprise which is recorded in a registry (table, directory, and so on).

A PoE is required for each 20 users accessing the program or any program component either directly or indirectly through any means on behalf of the Users. An example of "indirect" access would be through a multiplexing program, device, or application server.

The program can be accessed by multiple Users provided that a user authorization has been obtained for each 20 Users.

  1. Access to the program is restricted to users recorded in the registry.
  2. Users have a unique specific identity and IDs cannot be shared.
  3. When multiple, unique registries exist, the registries will be additive for charging purposes even if a specific ID exists in both registries.
  4. An ID can establish one or more connections and count as a single User.

IBM Electronic Services

IBM Global Services has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put you on the road to higher systems availability. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides you with an exclusive, no additional charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM eServer. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services is comprised of two separate but complementary elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent™.

IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The IBM Electronic Service Agent is no additional charge software that resides on your IBM eServer system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
