Overview

IBM Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 is the new name for, and follow-on version to, IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance V5.3. It is designed to:

  • Deliver end-user response time monitoring to help with early warning of response time problems
  • Follow transaction flows to help identify the cause of response time problems

In-depth information from IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 on performance, availability, and problem identification can be used with several other IBM Tivoli products to help deliver even greater value.

  • IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere® can be used to drill into Java™ 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) problems that were identified through response time tracking.
  • IBM Tivoli Service Level Advisor can use the information to help identify service level problems and trends.

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 delivers value in four key areas:

  • Provides broad response time coverage for Web and Windows™ environments using a variety of robotic and real-time techniques
  • Tracks transactions from end to end to help isolate the source of problems
  • Supports a portal-based user interface that can bring together key performance and availability metrics in the easy-to-use interface; provides a launch-in-context to resource-based views and diagnostics tools within the same portal
  • Integrates with a variety of IBM Tivoli service management products to provide a comprehensive solution

Response time and tracking

Response time tracking, which previously covered Web servers, J2EE applications servers, DB2®, Siebel, and Lawson ERP, has been expanded to cover CICS and IMS. As a result, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 can help track transaction flows from the J2EE environment to CICS and IMS. This capability can help quickly isolate the cause of a problem to the transaction processing systems on zSeries.

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 delivers a set of Web- and Windows-based tools to help gather response time and availability information. It includes the Rational® robot function to provide both a GUI-based simulation for accurate record and playback of end-user interactions and robot virtual user simulation for high scale simulation to quickly check a large number of Web sites. The response time tracking function provides an end-to-end view of response times across systems to help quickly isolate the cause of response time problems. The ability to track response times helps reduce the time required to isolate problems and gets the right people working on the problem quickly before end users are affected.

Client application tracker for the distributed product

The new client application tracker can provide response time monitoring of real end users at the client. The response time can be broken down into overall response time, server time, and network time to help isolate the cause of the response time problems to the problem area. By monitoring the client, very accurate response time measurements can be achieved. If you are upgrading to IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0, this function supports Lotus Notes® clients, Microsoft™ Outlook clients, and existing behavior models from IBM Tivoli ETEWatch® (the former Candle® ETEWatch product).

Improved Rational robot simulation

The ease of use of the integrated Rational robot simulation function has been significantly improved in IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0. Uploading of robot scripts can now be performed with a single click that gathers the necessary files and uploads them to the management server. The scripts are also auto-instrumented to help avoid the error prone manual process of script instrumentation. Support staff can now focus more of their time on expanding the number of transactions being measured and less time on performing administrative tasks.

TEC event information expanded

The information provided in the TEC events generated by IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 is expanded to include a much richer set of metrics. The events can provide:

  • Name of the business process
  • System that is causing the response time problem
  • Application name
  • Transaction name and description

This expanded root cause information helps simplify the job of the operator in assigning trouble tickets to the correct subject matter expert. This can greatly reduce the time it takes to fix a problem by quickly getting the right person involved to fix the problem. Instead of spending time determining which system is the cause of a problem, the rich TEC event can help identify the problem system and significantly reduce the time spent in the problem determination phase.

Portal-based user interface

To provide more seamless navigation between system management products, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 supports the new Tivoli Enterprise Portal. The portal can provide views of response times, J2EE analysis from IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, and resource information from IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1. In addition, a launch-in-context capability is provided between IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 which can help a subject matter expert quickly jump from an overall transaction view to a detailed look at J2EE information. This can help reduce the time spent in fixing complex application problems.

Note: Licensees of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 will receive a limited use, no-charge license of IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 bundled with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 for distributed environments. IBM Tivoli Monitoring Services on z/OS® V6.1 is available for host environments and must be separately ordered by specifying program number 5698-A79. These limited use licenses are available at no charge, subject to use restrictions. You are not authorized to access or use in any manner certain components that are contained in the solution packages, including the monitoring agents (such as operating system agents for Microsoft Windows, UNIX®, UNIX Logic, and i5) and the IBM Tivoli Universal Agent, unless you have paid for a license for IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 and, if applicable, IBM Tivoli Monitoring Universal Agent. Refer to the License Information document for terms applicable to these programs.

Data collectors for the host z/OS environment

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 for the z/OS environment includes the J2EE monitoring agent for WebSphere on IBM eServer zSeries, and the CICS and IMS data collectors. The IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 CICS and IMS data collectors are compatible with the new IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for CICS Transactions V6.0 and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for IMS Transactions V6.0 data collectors, which provide a deeper level of transaction analysis when used with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0.

IBM Tivoli service management solution

The response time information, generated by IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0, can be used by a number of other IBM Tivoli products, beyond resource and diagnostics, to enhance the overall IBM Tivoli service management solution.

The rich TEC event information on the cause of a response time problem can be used by IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager to help identify a system that may require additional resource to address a response time problem. For example, if a particular business process (as defined by a simulated transaction) goes from a five second overall response time to ten seconds, and WebSphere server number three is identified as the cause, the event sent to IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager through TEC could execute a script to provision another WebSphere server.

The response time availability information is also a key data feed for IBM Tivoli Service Level Advisor. All of the response time and availability information is stored in the Tivoli Data Warehouse where it can be leveraged to validate service levels and spot trends that could lead to a service level breech. The real-time availability reports from IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 can be used to quickly help spot trends and supplement the detailed service level reports provided by IBM Tivoli Service Level Advisor.

IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager can leverage the rich TEC events to help more accurately identify systems that are causing problems to an overall business system. Through IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager, response time problems can be viewed in the overall business systems context which can be used to help prioritize problems and ensure that the most critical problems are being addressed first; thus maximizing service to the most important customers.

Enhancements to scalability and auditability

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transaction Tracking V6.0 includes other enhancements that can improve scalability and auditability, such as:

  • The IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 management server running on a WebSphere cluster. This helps improve both availability and scalability, and shows the benefits of utilizing a robust infrastructure like WebSphere.
  • The number of supported agents from a single management server is increased to 5,000. This number can be increased further through the use of clustering.
  • The improved audit support can closely track and report changes to the management server. This helps support the separation of duties for different management tasks and provide the audit trail identifying who made the changes and when they were made.
  • The capability to control reporting views is added. This function allows different users to have custom views so they can only view reports and information that they are authorized to view.

Migration information

If you have the current offerings listed in the table below, you are entitled to IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0. You can migrate your use entitlements based on the current subscription and support pricing of the replacement offering. You must be current on maintenance to be eligible for migrations. If you are not current on maintenance, you will have to pay a get-current or maintenance reinstatement fee.

The migration is for the same capacity as currently licensed when converted to the pricing metric announced for the replacement offering. You will be migrated to ensure that you are entitled to use the software on the same systems that you are currently managing (for example, for the host product MSU quantities will be adjusted where required).

Value Unit-based pricing for the host product

Value Unit pricing for eligible zSeries IPLA programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zSeries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.

Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the ’required license capacity.’ Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.

Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offers additional price benefits for customers. The quantity of each zSeries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as ’entitled license capacity.’ If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a zSeries IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.

For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit Pricing, you should:

  • Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
  • Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
  • Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit, and
  • Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost

Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations for the host product

IPLA licenses may be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. The customer may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement. It is the customer's responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.

Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 uses the security and auditability features of the operating system software. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing

IBM Tivoli software products are priced using IBM Tivoli's Enhanced Value-Based Pricing. The Enhanced Value-Based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach — whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed.

For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli's monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly.

Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer's evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer's environment changes, the customer's implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered, as needed, without affecting the customer's license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software).

Under Enhanced Value-Based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server's use in the customer's environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution.

Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM's pSeries® Scalable POWERparallel Systems® servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application.

For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described above concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well.

Enhanced Value-Based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX® and Microsoft Windows/Intel™ technologies, in order to simplify the customers licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zSeries server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to zSeries and other host servers as well.

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing terminology definitions

Client device or client

A client device is a computer system that requests the execution of a set of commands, procedures, or applications from another computer system that is typically referred to as a server. Multiple client devices may share access to a common server. A client device generally has some processing capability or is programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to, notebook computers, desktop computers, desk side computers, technical workstations, appliances, personal digital assistants, automated teller machines, point-of-sale terminals, tills and cash registers, and kiosks.

IBM Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL)

This optional facility enables additional processing capacity exclusively for Linux workload, with no effect on the model designation of a zSeries or OS/390® server. Consequently, executing Linux workload on the IBM Integrated Facility for Linux will not, in most cases, result in any increased IBM software charges for z/OS, OS/390, VM, VSE, or TPF operating systems/applications. There is, as indicated, a charge associated with the IFL, and there may also be a charge for applications that run on the IFL.

The IFL may be dedicated to a single Linux-mode logical partition or it may be shared by multiple Linux-mode logical partitions. Installations should note that the Linux workspace, enabled by this facility, will not support any of the S/390 traditional operating systems (OS/390, TPF, VSE, or VM). Only Linux applications or Linux operating in conjunction with the Virtual Image Facility™, an environment that operates within a logical partition or in native S/390® mode and provides the capability to create multiple Linux images, are supported by IBM IFL.

Millions of Service Units (MSU)

An MSU is defined as millions of Central Processing Unit (CPU) service units per hour; the measure of capacity used to describe the computing power of the hardware processors on which S/390 or zSeries software runs. Processor MSU values are determined by the hardware vendor, IBM, or Software Compatible Vendors (SCVs).

Partitions

A server's resources (CPU, memory, I/O, interconnects and buses) may be divided according to the needs of the applications running on the server. This partitioning can be implemented with physical boundaries (Physical Partitions) or logical boundaries (Logical Partitions).

Physical Partitions are defined by a collection of processors dedicated to a workload and can be used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. In this method, the partitions are divided along hardware boundaries and processors, and the I/O boards, memory, and interconnects are not shared.

Logical Partitions are defined by software rather than hardware and allocate a pool of processing resources to a collection of workloads. These partitions, while separated by software boundaries, share hardware components and run in one or more physical partitions.

Processor ("per processor" charging under full capacity)

In full capacity charging, proof of entitlements must be acquired for all activated "processors" (available for use) that are on the server where the program or a component of the program is run.

Notes:

  1. IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and logic units.
  2. Multicore technology allows two or more processors (commonly called "cores") to be active on a single silicon chip. With multicore technology, IBM considers each core to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical processors residing on the single silicon chip.
  3. In the IBM eServer zSeries IFL environment, each IFL engine is considered a single physical processor.
  4. Threading, a technique that makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does not affect the count of physical processors.
  5. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the program is run.
  6. When a server is shipped with six processors, but two of them are inactive, four processors are active for the customer.

Managed processor (charging under full capacity in the "managed environment")

Charges are based on the active processors on the machines in the computing environment affiliated with the program rather than on the server where the program is run. The managed processors which require proofs of entitlement (POE) are defined in the Prices section of the announcement or in the License Information's program unique terms.

Notes:

Server

A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more clients and/or other devices over a network. Examples include, but are not limited to, file servers, print servers, mail servers, database servers, application servers, and Web servers.

Standby or backup systems

For programs running or resident on backup machines, IBM defines three types of situations: cold, warm, and hot. In the cold and warm situations, a separate entitlement for the copy on the backup machine is normally not required and typically no additional charge applies. In a hot backup situation, the customer needs to acquire another license or entitlement(s) sufficient for that server. All programs running in backup mode must be solely under the customer's control, even if running at another enterprise's location.

As a practice, the following are definitions and allowable actions concerning the copy of the program used for backup purposes:

Cold - A copy of the program may reside, for backup purposes, on a machine as long as the program is not started. There is no additional charge for this copy.

Warm - A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine and is started, but is idling, and is not doing any work of any kind. There is no additional charge for this copy.

Hot - A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine, is started, and is doing work. The customer must acquire a license or entitlement(s) for this copy and there will generally be an additional charge.

Doing work includes, for example, production, development, program maintenance, and testing. It also could include other activities such as mirroring of transactions, updating of files, synchronization of programs, data or other resources (for example, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), or any activity or configurations that would allow an active hot switch or other synchronized switch over between programs, databases, or other resources to occur.

In the case of a program or system configuration that is designed to support a high availability environment by using various techniques (for example, duplexing, mirroring of files or transactions, maintaining a ’heartbeat’, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), the program is considered to be doing work in the hot situation and a license or entitlement must be purchased.

A Value Unit is a metric used to compute license quantities and is program specific.

Passport Advantage® for the distributed platform

Through the Passport Advantage Agreement, customers may receive discounted pricing based on their total volume of eligible products, across all IBM brands, acquired worldwide. The volume is measured by determining the total "Passport Advantage points value" of the applicable acquisition(s). Passport Advantage points are only used for calculating the entitled Passport Advantage discount.

To determine the required Tivoli product configuration under Passport Advantage, the Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing Model applies. The customer's environment is evaluated on a per-product basis.

Use the following two-step process to determine the total "Passport Advantage points value":

  1. Analyze the customer environment to determine the number of charge units for a product. The quantity of each product's part number(s) to be ordered is determine by that analysis.
  2. Order the Passport Advantage part number(s). A Passport Advantage point value, which is the same worldwide for a specific part number regardless of where the order is placed, is assigned to each Tivoli product part number. The Passport Advantage point value for the applicable part number multiplied by the quantity for that part number will determine the Passport Advantage points for that Tivoli product part number. The sum of these Passport Advantage points determines the "Passport Advantage point value" of the applicable Tivoli product authorizations which then may be aggregated with the point value of other applicable Passport Advantage product acquisitions to determine the total "Passport Advantage points value".

The discounted pricing available through Passport Advantage is expressed in the form of Suggested Volume Prices (SVPs), which vary depending on the SVP level. Each SVP level is assigned a minimum total Passport Advantage point value, which must be achieved, in order to qualify for that SVP level.

Media packs and documentation packs do not carry Passport Advantage points and are not eligible for SVP discounting.

The following Passport Advantage part number categories may be orderable:

  • License and Software Maintenance 12 Months — this is the product authorization with maintenance to the first anniversary date.
  • Annual Software Maintenance Renewal — this is the maintenance renewal for one anniversary that applies when a customer renews their existing coverage period prior to the anniversary date at which it expires.
  • Software Maintenance Reinstatement 12 months — this is for customers who have allowed their Software Maintenance to expire, and later wish to reinstate their Software Maintenance.

Pricing examples

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 — distributed platform

Pricing for IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 is divided into two broad categories: real-time and simulation. Real-time transactions measure live traffic and are priced based on both the "managed processor" model and the managed "client device" model. Simulated transactions use a record and playback function and are priced based on the client they are running on using a fixed two-processor charge.

To calculate the number of managed processor entitlements required, determine the number of servers and processors per server that are being monitored for real-user response and add the number of workstations that are running simulated transactions and multiply by the fixed two-processor charge (refer to Note 1). To calculate the number of client device entitlements required, count the number of client devices that are being managed.

Note 1: Customers may use all functions available within the processor-based and client-based offerings, although these must be separately licensed. For example, a four processor Web server running both QoS and ARM would be charged for four processors, not for eight. In situations where real-time transactions are being managed in the same server/client where simulations are being run, the customer must license either all processors in the server/client or two processors, whichever is greater.

In the example above:

  • QoS is monitoring four Web Servers and each Web server has four processors. Therefore, 16 total entitlements would be required.
  • Three servers are being monitored with ARM (either at the client or on the server) and each server has two processors so six total entitlements would be required. ARM is required for the new visualization capabilities to dynamically discover and display transaction path topologies and associated performance delays by infrastructure component.
  • The customer also has four workstations running the STI playback function and each workstation would have a fixed two-processor charge for a total of eight entitlements. There is no charge for machines running the STI recorder.
  • Six workstations are running enterprise simulation and each workstation would have a fixed two-processor charge for a total of twelve entitlements.
  • The customer is managing the performance of 20 client devices.

The total number of entitlements for the order would be 42 processor and 20 client entitlements.

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 — host z/OS platform

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 for the host platform requires a single distributed processor entitlement for Application Response Measurement (ARM) to enable the management agent. In addition, the z/OS entitlements should follow the MSU to Value Unit scale below.

Passport Advantage allows you to have a common anniversary date for Software Maintenance renewals, which can simplify management and budgeting for eligible new versions and releases (and related technical support) for your covered products. The anniversary date, established at the start of your Passport Advantage Agreement, will remain unchanged while your Passport Advantage Agreement remains in effect. New software purchases will initially include twelve full months of maintenance coverage. Maintenance in the second year (the first year of renewal) can be prorated to be coterminous with your common anniversary date. Subscription and Support for MSU-based zSeries host products

To receive voice technical support via telephone during normal business hours and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (for example, Value Units or number of processors) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.

IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Support (IAAS). This offering:

Customized Offerings

Product media for the z/OS host product is shipped only via Customized Offerings (for example, CBPDO, ServerPac, SystemPac®). Non-customized items (CDs, diskettes, source media, media kits) will continue to be shipped via the stand-alone product.

This product is only available via Passport Advantage. It is not available as shrinkwrap.

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement and License Information document. Proofs of Entitlement (PoE) are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

This software license includes Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support.

Limited warranty applies: Yes

Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.

Program technical support: Technical support of a program product will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Software Maintenance applies: Yes

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the product(s) announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.

IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.

Terms and Conditions for host product

This product is licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA), and the associated IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAASM), which provides for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. This program has a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours) as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. S/390 and zSeries IBM Operational Support Services — SoftwareXcel is an option for those customers who desire added services.

The IBM Electronic Service Agent is a no additional charge software that resides on your IBM eServer system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
