WebSphere® Partner Gateway V6.0 extends process integration beyond the enterprise, providing a consolidated business-to-business (B2B) gateway to lower the costs of B2B integration. It integrates external processes and partner communities with internal processes and infrastructures, combining extensive partner profile management capabilities with a simple, reliable, and secure exchange for B2B messages.
WebSphere Partner Gateway is the re-branded, follow-on version to WebSphere Business Integration Connect V4.2, carrying forward all of its capabilities.
WebSphere Partner Gateway enables a single unified B2B partner management environment, that supports traditional EDI and XML-based message data and protocols, such as AS1, AS2, and RosettaNet, for B2B integration.
Transforming your business with WebSphere Partner Gateway lets your business become more responsive to demand. It becomes an enterprise whose business processes — integrated end-to-end across the company and with key partners, suppliers, and customers so it can respond rapidly to changes in customer-demand, market opportunity, or external threat.
WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 is available in three editions:
- Express: B2B gateway "spoke" to enable participants for communication over HTTP, HTTPS and AS2 and a maximum of five external connections
- Advanced Edition: B2B gateway hub to integrate large trading partner communities, licensed to a specified number of external connections
- Enterprise Edition: B2B gateway hub to integrate large trading partner communities with an unlimited number of external connections
New with this release, WebSphere Partner Gateway Advanced and Enterprise Edition V6.0 support:

Native EDI standards support
WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 Advanced and Enterprise Edition provide a unified consolidated B2B gateway hub and partner management environment for process integration, enabling a single point of control for B2B community integration. This can support XML-based Internet standards and traditional EDI.
WebSphere Partner Gateway supports an extensive range of EDI standards, including:
- X12
- EDIFACT
- ODETTE
- UCS and WINS
- VICS
- RAIL
- EANCOM97

WebSphere Partner Gateway provides significant capabilities to process batched EDI messages, such as:
- Transformation
- Validation
- Functional acknowledgements
- Packaging
- Enveloping
- De-enveloping
- Splitting
It automatically translates EDI format data, such as invoices, purchase orders and billing forms, for use with XML or structured application data formats.
Data validation and standards compliance functions allow functional acknowledgements as defined by some EDI standards.
WebSphere Partner Gateway can be configured to construct and deconstruct envelopes of EDI format data packaged into batches of related items stored in a file, and supports an extensive range of EDI standards.
Graphical EDI mapping tool — WebSphere Partner Gateway includes a dedicated graphical drag and drop mapping tool, Data Interchange Services. It delivers robust any-to-any mapping capabilities for EDI, XML and record-oriented data supporting both fixed length fields and comma-separated values. This tool is available on Microsoft Windows, including support for:
- Graphical drag and drop mapping
- Extensive online help
- Large library of built-in functions for string handling, data manipulation, user-defined error situations, arithmetic operations
- Combine maps via chain, switch and call functions
- Support for special EDI constructs like hierarchical loops (HL segment), drastically reducing mapping efforts
- Extensive compliance checking against the published message definitions is provided for all supported standards, on three configurable levels (full, partial, or none). All levels of validation contribute to the returned functional acknowledgment
- Support for most functional acknowledgments associated with supported standards including the 997, TA1, and CONTRL messages
- Validation maps are provided by IBM and business partners to check compliance with published guidelines for selected industries and hubs, such as full Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP) level compliance checking for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) via validation maps and the HIPAA code lists
EDI message tracking — Allows for tracking of messages through the system, using the common repository and including the ability to:
- View status and images of interchanges sent or received
- Drill down to the individual documents within the interchanges to see their functional acknowledgment status
Single Point of Control using the Community Console: All aspects of EDI transformation, validation, acknowledgement, etc can be controlled at the individual trading partner level using the Community Console provided with WebSphere Partner Gateway.
FTP scripting to enable VAN connectivity
WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 supports FTP scripting to exchange B2B documents over an FTP service. Operations on the FTP server are controlled using a script file that contains the FTP commands to execute. Invocations can be scheduled either on an interval, or by date and time.
FTP scripting support can enable access to VANs to support EDI. It can also support gets and puts with a partner's FTP server, and supports a wide variety of standard FTP servers and gateways.
Certified RosettaNet support
RosettaNet standards have been developed to address the supply chains needs of manufacturers, distributors, resellers, shippers and end users in the Computer and Consumer Electronics (CCE), Electronic Components (EC), Logistics (LG), Semiconductor Manufacturing (SM) and Telecommunications (TC) industries.

Certified AS2 support — Non-repudiable B2B transactions over the Internet
WebSphere Partner Gateway provides certified support for AS2 enabling transaction integrity, privacy, and non-repudiation for B2B transactions and electronic data interchange over the internet.
EDI is a set of protocols for conducting highly structured inter-organization exchanges, such as for making purchases or initiating loan requests.
AS2 describes how current Internet standards can be used to achieve transaction integrity, privacy and non-repudiation for process-to-process (real-time) B2B interactions and EDI over HTTP. The AS2 specification was developed as part of the IETF EDIINT Work Group. It provides security for the transport payload through digital signatures and data encryption to ensure reliable, non-repudiable delivery through the use of receipts.

Optional installation on WebSphere Application Server V6.0
WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 Advanced and Enterprise Edition comes with an embedded version of IBM WebSphere Application Server — Express V6.0, which is included in the product. Customers who are licensed to use WebSphere Application Server V6.0 or WebSphere Application Server — Express V6.0 can optionally install WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 on an existing WebSphere Application Server V6.0 installation.
Follow-on version to WebSphere Business Integration Connect V4.2
WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 is the re-branded, follow-on version to WebSphere Business Integration Connect V4.2, carrying forward its technology and all of its capabilities. WebSphere Partner Gateway V6.0 enables the definition, deployment, and operation of a robust and flexible B2B environment, to consolidate and centralize management of a company's B2B communications with trading partner communities. It provides a single point of control for interactions among partners, and security at the edge of the enterprise.
- Centralized B2B management environment to consolidate the integration of trading partner communities using a variety of B2B standards.
- Central repository for partner profiles, connections and protocols.
- Centralized operational tools with integrated event/alert management, to support logging of B2B transaction delivery, event viewing and document viewing. WebSphere Partner Gateway provides document exchange services with a rich set of operational tools to manage document flows and specialized interactions with each individual trading partner to support service-level agreements.
You can ensure that critical processing windows are met; and you can view alerts about process failures or processes that might not complete on time, and view information about active and completed B2B processes.
- Browser-based, community console supporting participants, managers and operators with user access to the hierarchical information stored in the central repository, depending on their respective authorizations. It provides a single point of control that enables both, reactive problem determination for the hub and its participants, and event-driven real-time solutions to automatically detect events and notify parties as needed.
You can trigger alerts (to the console) and e-mail notifications (to a person in charge) or system management notifications (for example, for Tivoli® software), based on predefined rules to handle exceptions.
- High scalability for large trading communities: The component-based architecture is entirely based on open standards while leveraging robust IBM middleware such as WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ and DB2 Universal Database®. Limited use licenses for WebSphere MQ and DB2® UDB are included for use as an integral part of the Advanced and Enterprise product.
- Security at the edge of the enterprise, including support for Secure Sockets layer (SSL), encryption, decryption, public-key cryptography and certificate validation, in addition to non-repudiation as required for full AS2 compliance, for example.
- Security-rich communications supporting a variety of B2B protocols and standards, including: http(s), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), FTP(S) (Secure File Transfer Protocol) , XML, Web services (SOAP), AS1 and AS2, RosettaNet PIPs for RNIF 1.1 and RNIF 2.0, cXML (Commerce XML).
- Extensible and flexible framework to plug-in support for additional protocols and standards. Exits provide an unparalleled way for business partners, services and sophisticated users to extend WebSphere Partner Gateway capabilities seamlessly while retaining its operational advantages.

Charge metrics definitions
"Per processor" charging under Full Capacity
In Full Capacity charging — where charges are based on a capacity based metric, such as a processor, PoEs must be acquired for all capacity that is active on the server where the program or a component of the program is run.
As an example, a customer has ordered a server with four processors. The server is shipped with six processors, but two of them are "inactive". Thus, four processors are active for the customer.
Notes
- IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and logic units.
- Multicore technology allows two or more processors (commonly called "cores") to be active on a single silicon chip. With multicore technology, IBM considers each "core" to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical processors residing on the single silicon chip.

In the IBM zSeries®
Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) environment, each IFL engine is considered a single "physical
processor".
- Threading, a technique which makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does NOT affect the count of physical processors.
- Where "blade" technology is employed, each "blade" is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the program is run.
"Per processor" charging under sub-capacity (when available)
Required authorized use for eligible programs is based upon the highest observed daily utilization of the partition(s) where the program or a component of the program, executes during a reporting period as measured by an IBM license management tool. IBM license management tool use is required for your submission of periodic reports to IBM. For each sub-capacity eligible software program, the required authorized use is reevaluated based upon the quarterly sub-capacity reports submitted to IBM.

The number of authorizations you must acquire is the smaller value of either of the following
methods:
- The total number of active (available for use) processors in the machine, or
-
The sum of (1) and (2) as follows (any remaining fraction of a processor must be rounded up to a
full processor in the final aggregation)

Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.
Program technical support: Technical support of a program product will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.
