Description

WSAM V3.2 includes the following separately orderable products:

  • For the distributed platforms:
    • WSAM for Multiplatforms V3.2
  • For the host platforms:
    • WSAM for z/OS, V3.2
    • WSAM Data Collector for CICS V3.2
    • WSAM Data Collector for IMS V3.2

WSAM 3.2 can manage heterogeneous environments consisting of both mainframes and distributed systems. It can be used by multiple IT roles across the software life cycle to assist in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems that adversely affect performance in production data centers. WSAM V3.2 also manages historical performance data, helping IT planning groups quantify production resource-consumption patterns and plan for future capacity.

WSAM V3.2 can provide deep diagnostics capability to IT groups managing J2EE business applications and their associated performance, stability, and capacity requirements. A simple architecture designed to address complex issues, the WSAM V3.2 architecture is based on data collector agents and the WSAM V3.2 server as follows:

  • A central managing server receives application information sent by the data collectors. The managing server is composed of:
    • A kernel that helps control the environment
    • A publish server that can produce and collect data
    • A relational database that can store and retrieve the data
    • A visualization engine that helps users interact in a graphical environment

These components work together to track and assemble transaction events, making it easier to determine the specific point in the application flow where problems could be occurring. The WSAM V3.2 application monitoring follows a publish/subscribe model. Resources are published to the kernel from which subscribers draw information.

  • Data collectors run on a monitored application server, communicating essential operational information to the WSAM V3.2 managing server. In addition, special sampling and compression algorithms help maintain low Central Processing Unit (CPU) and network overhead costs. Data collectors are available for AIX®, HP-UX, Linux™, Solaris, Windows™, and Linux on zSeries. Also, data collectors for the WebSphere Application Server on z/OS, for CICS, and for IMS are available as separately orderable products. WSAM V3.2 monitors transactions spanning J2EE, CICS, and IMS that use WebSphere MQ as a transport mechanism.

The WSAM V3.2 architecture helps enable the solution to function as a highly scalable, component-based topology. The data collectors, publish engine, communication repository, and visualization engine are loosely coupled, whether or not they are running on the same physical platforms. The kernel, as the publish/subscribe repository, helps monitor the individual components, allocate resources, and verify the stability of the entire system. For example, if the publish engine fails, the kernel is designed to automatically start another equivalent service and route traffic to the new publish engine.

Key features of WSAM V3.2 include:

  • J2EE-to-CICS monitoring with composite transaction monitoring between J2EE and CICS over WebSphere MQ and WebSphere CICS Transaction Gateway
  • J2EE-to-IMS monitoring with composite transaction monitoring between J2EE and IMS over WebSphere MQ and IBM IMS Connect
  • MQ monitoring, a new enabling technology that helps track composite transactions that cross J2EE to legacy systems (such as CICS and IMS) using WebSphere MQ as the data transport
  • J2EE-to-J2EE monitoring that can provide composite transaction monitoring of transactions that span multiple Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), conducted using WebSphere MQ
  • An application overview that can provide an enterprise-wide view of all applications running in the data center
  • A server statistics overview that can display client requests for specific server resources
  • On demand monitoring that allows changes in the monitoring scope without having to restart the JVM
  • In-flight request search that helps find specific requests in real time within a single server or across the entire server farm
  • Performance analysis and reporting that can provide rich historical operational information within multiple business contexts
  • A software consistency check that helps verify enterprise-wide environmental consistency
WSAM V3.2 includes additional function that can:
  • Deliver a view of overall application health at a glance across multiple system types
  • Locate long-running threads easily and take corrective action without restarting servers
  • Help monitor applications based on performance needs, minimizing negative impact to end-users
  • Help quickly identify problematic client requests
  • Provide a common reference to help promote improved communication among planning, development, production, and finance groups
  • Help quickly verify availability across groups of servers
  • Help eliminate potential problems caused by environmental inconsistencies within the server farm

Value Unit-based pricing for host products

Value Unit pricing for eligible zSeries IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zSeries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.

Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity." Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.

Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offers additional price benefits for customers. The quantity of each zSeries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as "entitled license capacity." If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a zSeries IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.

For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit Pricing, you should:

  • Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
  • Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
  • Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit, and
  • Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost.

To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to VUs or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site

Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.

To determine the required license capacity for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.

IPLA and subscription and support considerations for host products

IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. The customer may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement. It is the customer's responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.

Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing

IBM Tivoli software products are priced using IBM Tivoli's Enhanced Value-Based Pricing. The Enhanced Value-Based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach — whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed.

For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli's monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly.

Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer's evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer's environment changes, the customer's implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered as needed without affecting the customer's license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software).

Under Enhanced Value-Based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server's use in the customer's environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution.

Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM's pSeries® Scalable POWERparallel Systems® servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application.

For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well.

Enhanced Value-Based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX® and Microsoft™ Windows/Intel™ technologies, in order to simplify the customers licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zSeries server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to zSeries and other host servers as well.

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing Terminology Definitions

IBM Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL)

This optional facility enables additional processing capacity exclusively for Linux workload, with no effect on the model designation of a zSeries or OS/390® server. Consequently, executing Linux workload on the IBM Integrated Facility for Linux will not, in most cases, result in any increased IBM software charges for z/OS, OS/390, VM, VSE, or TPF operating systems/applications. There is, as indicated, a charge associated with the IFL; and there may also be a charge for applications that run on the IFL.

Millions of Service Units (MSU)

An MSU is defined as millions of Central Processing Unit (CPU) service units per hour; the measure of capacity used to describe the computing power of the hardware processors on which S/390® or zSeries software runs. Processor MSU values are determined by the hardware vendor, IBM, or Software Compatible Vendors (SCVs).

For more detailed information about zSeries software pricing, go to

Partitions

A server's resources (CPU, memory, I/O, interconnects and buses) may be divided according to the needs of the applications running on the server. This partitioning can be implemented with physical boundaries (Physical Partitions) or logical boundaries (Logical Partitions).

Physical Partitions are defined by a collection of processors dedicated to a workload and can be used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. In this method, the partitions are divided along hardware boundaries and processors, and the I/O boards, memory, and interconnects are not shared.

Logical Partitions are defined by software rather than hardware and allocate a pool of processing resources to a collection of workloads. These partitions, while separated by software boundaries, share hardware components and run in one or more physical partitions.

Processor

A processor is a functional unit in a computer that interprets and executes instructions. A processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and an arithmetic and logic unit. One or more physical processors may be resident on a single chip. For multi-processor chips, each processor is controlled separately.

Server

A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more clients and/or other devices over a network. Examples include, but are not limited to, file servers, print servers, mail servers, database servers, application servers, and Web servers.

Standby or Backup Systems

For programs running or resident on backup machines, IBM defines three types of situations: cold, warm, and hot. In the cold and warm situations, a separate entitlement for the copy on the backup machine is normally not required and typically no additional charge applies. In a hot backup situation, the customer needs to acquire another license or entitlements sufficient for that server. All programs running in backup mode must be solely under the customer's control, even if running at another enterprise's location.

As a practice, the following are definitions and allowable actions concerning the copy of the program used for backup purposes:

Cold — A copy of the program may reside, for backup purposes, on a machine as long as the program is not started. There is no additional charge for this copy.

Warm — A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine and is started, but is idling, and is not doing any work of any kind. There is no additional charge for this copy.

Hot — A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine, is started, and is doing work. The customer must acquire a license or entitlements for this copy and there will generally be an additional charge.

Doing work, includes, for example, production, development, program maintenance, and testing. It also could include other activities such as mirroring of transactions, updating of files, synchronization of programs, data or other resources (for example, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), or any activity or configurations that would allow an active hot switch or other synchronized switch over between programs, databases, or other resources to occur.

In the case of a program or system configuration that is designed to support a high availability environment by using various techniques (for example, duplexing, mirroring of files or transactions, maintaining a 'heartbeat', active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), the program is considered to be doing work in the hot situation and a license or entitlement must be purchased.

Value Units

A Value Unit is a metric used to compute license quantities and is program specific.

The volume is measured by determining the total Passport Advantage points value of the applicable acquisitions. Passport Advantage points are only used for calculating the entitled Passport Advantage discount.

To determine the required Tivoli product configuration under Passport Advantage, the Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing Model applies. The customer's environment is evaluated on a per-product basis.

Use the following two-step process to determine the total Passport Advantage points value:

  1. Analyze the customer environment to determine the number of charge units for a product. The quantity of each product's part numbers to be ordered is determine by that analysis.
  2. Order the Passport Advantage part numbers. A Passport Advantage point value, which is the same worldwide for a specific part number regardless of where the order is placed, is assigned to each Tivoli product part number. The Passport Advantage point value for the applicable part number multiplied by the quantity for that part number will determine the Passport Advantage points for that Tivoli product part number. The sum of these Passport Advantage points determines the Passport Advantage point value of the applicable Tivoli product authorizations which then may be aggregated with the point value of other applicable Passport Advantage product acquisitions to determine the total Passport Advantage points value.

The discounted pricing available through Passport Advantage is expressed in the form of Suggested Volume Prices (SVPs), which vary depending on the SVP level. Each SVP level is assigned a minimum total Passport Advantage point value, which must be achieved, in order to qualify for that SVP level.

Media packs and documentation packs do not carry Passport Advantage points and are not eligible for SVP discounting.

For additional information on Passport Advantage, refer to the following Web site

The following Passport Advantage part number categories may be orderable:

  • License and Software Maintenance 12 Months — this is the product authorization with maintenance to the first anniversary date.
  • Annual Software Maintenance Renewal — this is the maintenance renewal for one anniversary that applies when a customer renews their existing coverage period prior to the anniversary date at which it expires.
  • Software Maintenance Reinstatement 12 months — this is for customers who have allowed their Software Maintenance to expire, and later wish to reinstate their Software Maintenance.
  • Media packs — these are the physical media, such as CD-ROMs, that deliver the product's code.
  • Documentation packs — these contain printed documentation such as the User's Guide and Release Notes.

WebSphere Studio Application Monitor for z/OS, V3.2, WebSphere Studio Application Monitor Data Collector for CICS, V3.2, WebSphere Studio Application Monitor Data Collector for IMS, V3.2

The host products (WebSphere Studio Application Monitor for z/OS, V3.2, WebSphere Studio Application Monitor Data Collector for CICS, V3.2, and WebSphere Studio Application Monitor Data Collector for IMS, V3.2) are licensed in VUE001.

The scales are used to calculate the equivalent number of Value Units for a specified number of MSUs.

In the following example, the customer is managing 1,500 MSUs:

MSUs Value Units/MSU Value Units

Base 3 5.25 15.75
Tier A 42 .83 34.86
Tier B 130 .35 45.50
Tier C 140 .26 36.40
Tier D 1,185 .20 237.00

Total 1,500 369.51

When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is rounded up to the next integer. So the customer will need to license 370 MSUs in this example.

Value Units for non MSU-based S/390 processors:

System Value Units/System

MP3000 H30 21
MP3000 H50 22
MP3000 H70 26
ESL Models 9

Value Units for IBM 9672 processors are based upon the full capacity of these systems. This is applicable to all zSeries systems measured on MSU capacity. Information on MSU capacities can be found in the 'IBM System/370™, System/390® and zSeries Machine Exhibit', Z125-3901.

Ordering information for the distributed product in Passport Advantage

Passport Advantage allows you to have a common anniversary date for Software Maintenance renewals, which can simplify management and budgeting for eligible new versions and releases (and related technical support) for your covered products. The anniversary date, established at the start of your Passport Advantage Agreement, will remain unchanged while your Passport Advantage Agreement remains in effect. New software purchases will initially include twelve full months of maintenance coverage. Maintenance in the second year (the first year of renewal) can be prorated to be coterminous with your common anniversary date. Thereafter, all software maintenance will renew at the common anniversary date and include twelve full months of maintenance.

Refer to the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement and to the IBM Software Maintenance Handbook for specific terms relating to, and a more complete description of, technical support provided through Software Maintenance.

The quantity to be specified for the Passport Advantage part numbers in the following table is per processor. To order for Passport Advantage, specify the desired part number and quantity.

Subscription and Support for MSU-based zSeries host products

To receive voice technical support via telephone during normal business hours and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (for example, Value Units or number of processors) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.

To order, specify the Subscription and Support program product number and the appropriate license or charge option.

IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Support (IAAS). This offering:

  • Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone during normal business hours.
  • Entitles customers to future releases and versions at no additional charge. Note that the customer is not entitled to new products.

When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will renew automatically annually unless cancelled by the customer.

Customized Offerings

Product media for the zSeries host products is shipped only via Customized Offerings (for example, CBPDO, ServerPac, SystemPac®). Non-customized items (CDs, diskettes, source media, media kits) will continue to be shipped via the stand-alone product.

Sub-capacity terms and conditions for the zSeries host products

For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of the program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity. Your required license capacity is based upon the following factors:

  • zSeries IPLA program you select
  • Applicable Value Unit Exhibit
  • Applicable terms
  • Whether your current mainframes are full-capacity or sub-capacity

For more information on the Value Unit Exhibit for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Ordering information section

Full-capacity mainframes: In cases where full-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply:

Execution-based, z/OS-based, Full-Machine-based: The required capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the MSU rated capacity of the machines where the zSeries IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU rated capacities, see The System/370, System/390, and zSeries Machine Exhibit (Z125-3901) or visit the "Mainframes" section of the zSeries Exhibits Web site

Reference-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the "parent" program.

Sub-capacity mainframes: In cases where sub-capacity is applicable, the following terms apply:

Execution-based: The required capacity of a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with these terms equals the capacity of the LPAR(s) where the zSeries IPLA program executes.

z/OS-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of z/OS (and z/OS.e) on the machine(s)where the zSeries IPLA program executes.

Reference-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with these terms equals the license capacity of the applicable monthly license charge (MLC) program. This MLC program is called the "parent" program.

Full Machine-based: The required license capacity of a zSeries IPLA program with full machine-based terms equals the MSU rated capacity of the machine(s) where the zSeries IPLA program executes.

For more information on mainframe MSU rated capacities, refer to The System/370, System/390, and zSeries Machine Exhibit (Z125-3901) or visit the "Mainframes" section of the zSeries Exhibits Web site

For more information on sub-capacity zSeries IPLA terms and conditions, refer to Software Announcement 204-184 dated August 10, 2004

Additional Information for Products with Reference-Based Terms zSeries IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the zSeries IPLA program executes.

An environment is defined as either a single/stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. Customers may have one or more different environments across their enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each zSeries IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.

When a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment the required license capacity of the zSeries IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one

  1. That meets the criteria defined in Hardware Announcement letter 198-001 (RFA29325) dated January 13, 1998
  2. Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the Sysplex

Sub-capacity eligibility: To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select zSeries IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be zSeries (or equivalent). On that machine:

  • All instances of the OS/390 operating system must be migrated to the z/OS (or z/OS.e) operating systems
  • Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued
  • All instances of the z/OS operating (or z/OS.e) systems must be running in z/Architecture™ (64-bit) mode

For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the zSeries Software Pricing Web site

You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:

  • The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement — Attachment for zSeries Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
  • The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement — Attachment for z800 and z890 Software License Charges (Z125-6587).

Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract — 'Amendment for zSeries Platform Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929-02 or higher)'. Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous zSeries IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.

Sub-capacity utilization determination for zSeries host products

Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the product's own execution as reported to IBM in accordance with the requirements for reporting sub-capacity utilization for products.

On/Off Capacity on Demand for host products

To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract — Z125-6611, Attachment for Customer Initiated Upgrade and IBM eServer On/Off Capacity on Demand — Software — must be signed prior to use.

IBM Electronic Services

IBM Global Services has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put you on the road to higher systems availability. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides you with an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM eServer. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services is comprised of two separate, but complementary, elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent™.

IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The IBM Electronic Service Agent is a no-additional-charge software that resides on your IBM eServer system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
