Overview

DB2® High Performance Unload (HPU) for Multiplatforms, V2.2 and DB2 HPU for Workgroups, V2.2 are high-speed tools for unloading, extracting, and repartitioning data from DB2 databases on Linux™, UNIX®, and Microsoft™ Windows™. DB2 HPU helps reduce the maintenance window through shorter elapsed time operations and new capabilities.

DB2 HPU can extract tables from full, offline backups including backups of system-managed space (SMS) or database-managed space (DMS) table spaces or backups of the database. For backups of table spaces where a suitable backup of the DB2 catalog exists, DB2 HPU can extract the tables from the backup even if DB2 is down. Version 2.2 also offers new repartitioning capabilities for data redistribution on the same system or for data migration to a new system. High-speed data unloads and splitting can now be done in a single operation, eliminating the use of unnecessary disk space.

Description

Version 2.2 of the Multiplatform and Workgroup editions offers:

  • Improved performance: A key focus for DB2 HPU, V2.2 is performance. This release delivers significant new enhancements including:
    • Enhanced parallelism of processing
    • Improved threading implementation
    • Better distribution of processing work across partitions
    • Ability to extract and format multiple tables in a single pass through the table space
  • Extended extraction options from DB2 backups: DB2 HPU can extract tables from full offline backups including backups of SMS or DMS table spaces or backups of the database.
  • Repartitioning capabilities for data redistribution on the same system or for data migration to a new system.
  • Additional DB2 authorization support: DB2 HPU, V2.2 includes DB2 authorization checking so authorization can be extended beyond just the instance owner.
  • Additional output formats:
    • Undelimited ASCII (also called ASC)
    • DSNTIAUL (a native format for DB2 for z/OS® LOAD)
  • Additional platform support:
    • Windows 2003
    • 64-bit DB2, V8 on AIX®, Solaris, and HP-UX

Installability: Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or an authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Usage restriction: Yes

  • Charges for this program are based on the total number of processors from which the data being processed by the program originates. This includes any processors available to the database servers on which the data originally resides and the processors available to the database servers to which the program is licensed. The total number of processors within database servers on which the data being processed by the program resides, and which are attached or available to the program, may not exceed the number authorized by the applicable PoE or authorized by each product authorization acquired under Passport Advantage. If the total number exceeds the quantity in your PoE or exceeds your product authorizations acquired under Passport Advantage, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.
  • High availability/failover licensing
    • In idle standby or active standby, you must acquire correct number of processors.
    • In idle standby, you must license the program for one processor.
    • In active standby, you must license the program for the number of processors on the active standby server. For example, if the standby machine has four processors you must purchase four licenses.
  • DB2 High Performance Unload for Workgroups is not licensed for use with and will not run against DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition (EE), Extended Enterprise edition (EEE), and Enterprise Server Edition (ESE).

Software Maintenance applies: Yes

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support organizations.

IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option that is available.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect: IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions; and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.
