| Overview |
In response to customer demand, 24 x 7 all-severity support is now extended to other pSeries® license program's software maintenance offerings. Customers who intend to acquire 24 x 7 support under Software Maintenance for AIX® Operating Systems now have the opportunity to acquire 24 x 7 support for select pSeries license programs as well. This option may be selected during configuration of any new pSeries system.
These 24 x 7 all-severity support options are also available for customers with existing SWMA active contracts for the license programs identified in this announcement.
The 24 x 7 all-severity support option offers:
- Access to IBM remote technical software support, regardless of severity, 24 hours x 7 days a week
- Processor-based pricing, based on the number of active processors running AIX per system
- Entitlement beginning with your new pSeries hardware installation date
- One-year or three-year coverage options
Existing SWMA customers can modify their existing contracts to add the 24 x 7 all-severity support option. The number of active processors or quantity specified, based on the value metrics offered under SWMA in support of an eligible license program, must equal the quantity of the value metrics in the existing SWMA contract.

| Description |
Software maintenance
SWMA prices: The IBM SWMA program prices are, for the most part, processor-based with the price based on the number of processors used. However, other pricing metrics are also supported. Refer to the individual license program SWMA offerings for supported pricing metrics.
Minimum contract value: None
Adding 24 x 7 support to an existing contract: The 24 x 7 all-severity support option can be added to an existing SWMA contract. No proration is allowed, and there will be no after-license charges applied when adding the 24 x 7 support option to existing contracts.
Remote technical software support: Technical support is included as an integral part of SWMA. It can supplement your support staff with telephone support for routine installation, usage (how-to) questions, and code-related problems. This support applies to IBM entitled software only.
Additional technical support benefits:
- Convenient telephone and electronic access (where available) to the skilled pSeries support teams 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Unlimited calls to IBM technical software support centers outside normal business hours for usage and code-related problems
Renewal
- At the end of your chosen SWMA coverage period, you can renew the 24 x 7 support option according to the terms and conditions of the then-current Software Maintenance offerings.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that the renewal orders are placed either directly with IBM no later than the day before the expiration date or with an IBM Business Partner in time for the order to arrive at IBM no later than the day before the expiration date.
- If you choose not to renew SWMA or the renewal is not received by IBM before the day before the expiration date, the Software Maintenance After-License Fee must be purchased to reinstate SWMA, but not to add 24 x 7 all-severity coverage.
