To reduce the complexity of ordering AIX®/pSeries® software, a single ordering method will now be used to order all supply features, such as product media and software maintenance, for AIX/pSeries initial orders and upgrades. Previously, supply features for some products were ordered under the licensed product (for example, 5765-F83) whereas others were ordered under the Software Maintenance (SWMA) product number (for example, 5771-AIX, 5771-SUB).
All supply features will now be ordered under the current pSeries System Program Order (SPO), 5692-A5L.
A supply feature is a four-character numeric or alpha/numeric representation of a specific
AIX/pSeries operating system or licensed product software deliverable. Refer to Software withdrawal

All SWMA orders created on or after April 27, 2004, will be available through supply features on the AIX SPO.
Customization options: A new "no charge media" feature number 1005 will be introduced for SPO (5692-A5L) orders to deliver media at no charge to the customer. Effective with this announcement, AIX/pSeries media and publications for SWMA will be delivered through the SPO. A new pSeries SPO will be generated when delivery of AIX/pSeries media and/or publications are specified. If feature number 1004 exists on a prior SPO, feature number 1005 will be generated for the new SPO. If feature number 1004 does not exist on a prior SPO, it will be generated for the new SPO.
To request notification or shipment of upgrades
Customers can request information regarding upgrades or updates of particular products via the Web.
To register to be notified by e-mail of product upgrades and updates, visit
- Select pSeries Software Maintenance.
- Click on "sign in first."
- Use your IBM Common Registration userid/password to sign in or click register to create one.
- Under the heading subscribe/unsubscribe , you can select to be notified for all updates or specific ones.
After receipt of upgrade or update notification, eligible customers, who want to request an upgrade or update via the Web, should fill out an online shipment request form at
