At a glance

Existing collaboration business processes are being consolidated into groups to be sold under per-establishment terms and conditions. These changes benefit existing and new collaborations customers by:

  • Making it easier and simpler to identify answers to business process integration challenges
  • Removing restrictive terms and conditions
  • Providing access to a wider variety of interrelated collaborations for no additional cost
  • Entitling existing collaborations customers to all of the other collaborations within their relevant grouping

Overview

Businesses require process integration that can solve the specific problems that face their company. To address this need, IBM delivers targeted solutions within the WebSphere® Business Integration family. WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations are solution-specific, predefined, customizable business process templates that can help you jump-start your business integration project.

IBM is simplifying and streamlining its portfolio of collaborations by consolidating them into functional groups and simplifying terms and conditions for their use. In the past, it was sometimes difficult for customers to find the right individual collaboration or combination of collaborations from a long list of options and then pay for each instance of the collaboration they used along with an additional fee for connecting extra applications into the collaboration. Customers are now able to identify a business process integration problem they are trying to solve, select a group of industry-specific or cross-industry collaborations that address this problem, and then use any or all the collaborations in this group an unlimited number of times, with an unlimited number of connected applications, on an unlimited number of processors within their establishment (refer to the Terms and conditions section for definition of per-establishment).

For existing collaborations customers, license to an individual per-instance collaboration now entitles customers to use all of the collaborations contained in the relevant new group.

While collaborations are not intended to be used out of the box, they can substantially enhance an integration project by delivering most of the necessary code for a variety of business processes. Using collaborations can help companies accelerate their integration projects and take advantage of IBM's rich best practices knowledge.

  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration for Inventory Movement V5.0
  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration for Purchasing V5.0
  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration for Vendor Manager V5.0

This collaboration group provides templates for synchronizing a variety of information related to procurement with relevant enterprise application systems, usually:

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Customer Interaction Management (CIM)
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for Customer Relationship Management V1.0 combines the following existing collaborations and allows usage on a per-establishment basis:

These collaborations allow the insurance company to quickly process and respond to the user request for a new policy, check records, determine the appropriate response, and notify a client who has requested a partial surrender of value from an existing life policy.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for Property and Casualty Insurance V1.0 combines the following existing collaborations and allows usage on a per-establishment basis:

  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration for Homeowner First Loss V1.1.2
  • IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration for Personal Articles Coverage Quote V1.1.2

These collaborations allow the insurance company to quickly:

  • Generate a notice of claim and provide a relevant response when a client wishes to submit an initial notice of loss against an existing homeowner's policy
  • Determine the appropriate coverage quote and response when a client wishes to obtain a quote on coverage for a personal article or articles

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for Telecommunications V1.0 combines the following existing collaborations and allows usage on a per-establishment basis:

These collaborations address an assortment of common business processes associated with fulfillment, assurance, billing, and product lifecycle management within the telecommunications industry.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for UCCnet Item Synchronization V4.3.1 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. These collaborations synchronize item information in support of UCCnet standards, helping to maintain the consistency of supplier item information in UCCnet and helping the supplier ensure the information is kept current with the most recent data in the supplier's application. The supplier can also communicate new or changed item information to subscribing trading partners in UCCnet.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for UCCnet Message Manager V4.3.1 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. These collaborations help with sending and receiving messages to and from UCCnet. The collaborations iterate through a UCCnet message, separating each instance of an item publication, and sending each through processing. If the UCCnet message does not contain item publications, the message is searched for item and message errors sent from UCCnet. Any error found is logged and processing stops for that message.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for Product Information Management V1.0.1 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. These collaborations assist with sending and receiving messages to and from the UCCnet directory, storing and retrieving item data, and publishing approved data to other systems. They can reduce operational costs and errors, increase sales by providing the accurate, timely data needed for educated business decisions, and increase market share by accelerating product-to-retail shelf cycles.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for HIPAA Transactions V1.1.1 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. These collaborations help payers in the healthcare industry meet mandates proscribed by HIPAA (United States' Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996). Benefits include functionality that addresses the HIPAA standards, and that helps companies address privacy and security issues for protected health information, connecting disparate payer/provider system networks, and reducing claims processing costs.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations for Healthcare V1.0 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. These collaborations enable healthcare companies to integrate business support systems and operations support systems, rapidly providing new services to their staff. The offering helps automate static compliance reporting, along with patient electronic medical record (EMR) and cascading orders. When used in conjunction with the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for Healthcare Protocols data handler, these collaborations enable integration to a best-of-breed solution with existing Health Level Seven (HL7) enabled legacy systems.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaboration Foundation V5.0 now allows usage on a per-establishment basis. This collaboration speeds the development of custom, user-defined collaborations by providing a base template containing common business logic operations performed on business objects such as synchronization, data access, filtering, exception handling, and data piping (movement of data from one application to another).

Planning information

Customer responsibilities: It is strongly recommended that IBM WebSphere Business Integration Software Services or Business Partners be used to assist in the installation, design, implementation, and maintenance of the IBM WebSphere InterChange Server solution.

To implement an IBM WebSphere InterChange Server solution, the following skills are required:

  • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot IBM WebSphere InterChange Server components including WebSphere MQ, DB2®, Oracle, or SQLServer databases. Some network awareness is also required.
  • Java™ programming knowledge.
  • Some SQL experience and basic understanding of relational databases and SQL statements, triggers, and stored procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of specific packaged applications or client legacy applications to be managed.
  • Thorough understanding of the IBM WebSphere InterChange Server solution.

Customers should take full advantage of the educational program provided for the IBM WebSphere InterChange Server solution.

Direct customer support: Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the products announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.

Security, auditability, and control

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Collaborations use the security and auditability features of the system on which the products are installed.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Warranty: These programs have warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information, FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at their leisure.

Program Technical Support: Technical Support of a program product will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This Technical Support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM Representative or Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the products announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.

IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option that is available.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your (1) routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions; and (2) code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at:

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for (1) the design and development of applications, (2) your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or (3) failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.

The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
