| Description |
IBM first announced its entry into the database tools business in September 2000, delivering a set of 34 tools for DB2 and IMS covering key system management functions, and committing to expand this portfolio in response to customer requirements.
This offering marks IBM's tenth database tools announcement in three years, proof of our ability to offer a broad range of tools that support DB2 and IMS databases and to provide that support with rapid availability for each new version or release of the databases.
To view the complete list of DB2 and IMS Tools' announcements visit:
IBM now offers more than 60 tools that feature common interfaces and cross-tool integration, tested under the same configurations and workloads as the databases they support. As we enter the era of autonomic computing, DB2 and IMS Tools will become increasingly self-managed in terms of dynamically monitoring and managing data, and taking responsibility for decision making and initiating action.

IBM Tools for Application Management
DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS, V8 (5697-I82) provides direct SQL SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE access to mainframe non-relational and relational databases and files with transactional speed and enterprise scale without mainframe programming.Using DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation applications can issue SQL SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE from ODBC, JDBC, or a Call Level Interface (CLI) to access DB2 UDB, IMS, and VSAM mainframe data. Three optional features are available to provide these services for Software AG Adabas as well as Computer Associates CA-Datacom and CA-IDMS data.
Additional information is provided in the Supplemental Information section.
DB2 Test Database Generator for z/OS, V2 (5697-I02) allows you to create test data for databases. You can specify database tables or text files that can be used to supply seed data for test data creation. Sets of generation rules or actions are defined that are applied to the source data when the test data is generated. Test data can also be created from scratch using these generation rules. Generation rules specify how the data will be changed in order to make seed data non-sensitive or how the data will be created from scratch so that it mimics real data. DB2 Test Database Generator can access DB2 database locations on z/OS, AIX®, Solaris, and Microsoft Windows platforms.
A table grouping component called DB2 Grouper is also provided that discovers relationships between tables from definitional as well as access sources, making it easy to view related tables in the test environment for inclusion.
The name of Version 1 of this product was DB2 Data Export Facility for z/OS. The name of the product was changed to better describe the capabilities of the new version.
Additional information is provided in the Supplemental Information section.

Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation act
With the possible exception of DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS, V8 (5697-I82), the products in this announcement are capable as of their general availability, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it.
Accessibility testing is continuing on DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS, V8. If any accessibility deviations are found, they will be corrected in the next release of the product.
Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit-based pricing will help to align the prices of these products to the principle of the PSLC pricing curve, which provides for a lower price per millions of service units (MSU) per hour for larger capacities.
There is also a price benefit when customers grow their capacity. Additional capacity will be based on the number of Value Units (MSUs) the customer has already installed, for example, additional capacity will not be priced starting at the base with a higher price per unit but on the capacity that is already installed.
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged/interchanged/aggregated with Value Units of another product.
IPLA and subscription and support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. The customer may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement. It is the customer's responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement.
Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

DB2® Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS®, V8 (5697-I82)
The three optional features that provide support for Software AG Adabas and Computer Associates CA-Datacom and CA-IDMS data are:
- DB2 Information Integrator Connector for Software AG Adabas
- DB2 Information integrator Connector for CA-Datacom
- DB2 Information Integrator Connector for CA-IDMS
SQL-literate tool and application developers are productive immediately. They can integrate mainframe data into everything from a simple read-oriented customer self-service Web site to a complex multi-database read/write e-commerce site.
DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation maps a logical relational table structure over existing physical databases. UNIX®, Windows, Linux, and mainframe tools and applications issue standard SQL commands to these logical tables. Behind the scenes, DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation dynamically generates native data access commands that are optimized for each database and file type. Results are automatically translated and reformatted into relational rows and columns providing seamless integration of all mainframe data assets without proprietary programming.
With 60% of business data residing on the mainframe, mainframe data access is important to the success of many of today's business-critical IT initiatives including:
- Delivering mainframe operational data to customer self-service Web sites
- Connecting e-commerce sites with mainframe inventory data
- Integrating business intelligence systems in real time with mainframe accounting data
- Connecting an enterprise portal to mainframe HR data
DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation extends DB2 Information Integrator 8.1 (5724-C74) to include access to non-relational mainframe data sources. DB2 Information Integrator lets applications access diverse and distributed data including multivendor mainframe and distributed, structured and unstructured, private and public as if it were a single database.
The benefits of DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation include:
- Extending the value of existing mainframe investments. Rather than ripping out and replacing mainframe assets, clients can extend these investments to deliver new business applications or integrate business operations.
- Reducing time-to-value for integration projects that require mainframe data by eliminating proprietary coding and multiplatform development and automating complex multisource integration.
- Minimizing dependence on scarce legacy data skills by empowering non-mainframe staff to automatically leverage legacy data sources without investing in the proprietary skills associated with these data sources.
- Empowering IT to rapidly deliver information-rich business solutions that present up-to-the-second information rather than stale copied data.
DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation can be used as a stand-alone solution or in conjunction with DB2 Information Integrator 8.1.

IBM Tools for Recovery Management
DB2 Change Accumulation Tool for z/OS, V1.3 (5655-F55)
The following enhancements are provided:
- Previous releases of DB2 Change Accumulation Tool enabled you to combine the most recent image copy with any existing incremental image copies, mini-logs, and information from the DB2 log to create a new image copy. Now DB2 Change Accumulation Tool also enables you to select whether changes are written to image copies, VSAM files, or both.
- The ability to create one to four image copies per existing image copy, which supports the simultaneous creation of LP/LB and RP/RB image copies.
- The new mini-log control table (MCT) maintenance function enables you to selectively delete rows from the MCT based on criteria, such as database, tablespace, index space, partition, date, and age. This prevents the MCT from exceeding an acceptable size and avoids the risk of losing valuable mini-log information.
- The ability for you to create image copies of all catalog tables except for SYSIBM.SYSCOPY.
DB2 Log Analysis Tool for z/OS, V2 (5655-E56)
The following enhancements have been made in this version:
-
Support for DB2 V8
Allows you to exploit the features available in DB2 V8.
-
New and advanced filters
These filters provide:
- More granularity
- Easier specification that carries through to output reports and files
-
Ability to archive output
Allows you to re-run a detail report without incurring the overhead of the original run.
-
Ability to audit table activity
Allows you to use the current LOAD process to load detail report data into a single repository called an audit table which may:
- Have any table loaded into it
- Have queries made against it
- Contain every table's modification activity
-
Automatic mode for details reports
Allows you to request that DB2 Log Analysis Tool determine if the most efficient way to run a details report is to read the logs forward or backward. You no longer have to make this determination. Log Analysis Tool will choose the most efficient method for you.
-
Continuous mode
Allows you to specify:
- An end date and time
- When to stop continuous mode and start running incrementally
-
Exclusion filters
Exclusion filters have been added for object and miscellaneous filters. These filters make it easier to remove a small subset of unneeded objects.
-
Fastpath processing
Generates details reports very efficiently. It reads the logs the same way the general report does, but does not:
- Read beyond the time frame requested
- Use other resources to resolve full row images, such as, image copies or current table space data
-
Saving filters to a file
Filters saved into a file for re-use can be used from both the general and detail report panels. This increases efficiency whenever a large set of filters is needed for re-use. This option allows you to save only the filters and change the log ranges for subsequent runs.
-
Quiet time
This feature allows you to determine periods of inactivity in your DB2 subsystem. Inactivity means:
- No log records were found pertaining to the filters provided.
- There were no outstanding units of work pertaining to the filters provided.
Quiet time allows you to find time periods in your subsystem that may be used for a wide variety of activities, such as recovery.
-
Warning processing
A change in warning processing allows you to specify whether to proceed or stop after a DB2 Log Analysis Tool warning is encountered. In previous releases warnings did not stop the report processes. With this new feature each user can determine whether to continue or stop processing when a warning is encountered.
-
LOAD/LOAD REPLACE LOG(YES)
Provides the capability to generate detail level output from the LOAD and LOAD REPLACE processes. Previously, reporting on the LOAD and LOAD REPLACE utilities was provided, but any needed inserts and deletes were not created. Now, if the utilities were run with the LOG(YES) option, then the inserts and deletes are created from the data for these utilities in the log.
DB2 Object Restore for z/OS, V2 (5697-I20)
The following enhancements have been made to Version 2:
-
Support for DB2 V8
Allows you to exploit the features available in DB2 V8.
-
Double-byte character set (DBCS) support
DBCS is supported for input and output. This allows you to use DB2 Object Restore with DBCS object names.
-
Single thread Versioning Repository update
To prevent your users from unnecessarily consuming valuable system resources, Object Restore prevents multiple, concurrent Versioning Repository updates. This ensures that your system's resources are available when they are most needed.
-
Partial Versioning Repository refresh
Object Restore has implemented a method through which you can perform a partial Versioning Repository refresh. You are no longer required to refresh the entire Versioning Repository if you know the individual database that contains the changes that you want to save. This will save you time and system resources.
-
DB2 subsystem ID (SSID) list
No longer do you have to remember the numerous DB2 subsystems at your site. Object Restore displays a list of defined DB2 SSIDs from which you can select the one you want to use.
-
Single table recovery
Object Restore allows you to recover a single table from image copies, UNLOAD utility backups, and dropped tables in table space VSAM data sets. If you have DB2 High Performance Unload installed, then you can use it when doing single table recovery from an image copy. This is much more efficient than recovering an entire table space when all you need is one table.
-
Point-in-time SQL JCL recovery
Object Restore can restore a DB2 table to a point in time of your choosing by using an interface with DB2 Log Analysis Tool. This makes the point-in-time restoration a one step rather than a multiple step process as in prior versions.
-
SYSCOPY recovery
Object Restore can recover any SYSCOPY rows that have been archived in the Versioning Repository. These rows would have been either irretrievably lost or recoverable only through a lengthy resource and time-intensive restore from backup resources.

| Ordering information |
The products in this announcement have one charge unit: Value Unit.
Value Unit-based pricing will help to align the prices of these products to the principle of the PSLC pricing curve, which delivers a lower price per MSU (per hour) for larger capacities.
There is also a price benefit when customers grow their capacity. Additional capacity will be based on the number of Value Units (MSUs) the customer has already installed, for example, additional capacity will not be priced starting at the base with a higher price per unit but on the capacity that is already installed.
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
Value Unit exhibit VUE007
MSUs MSUs
minimum maximum Value Units/MSU
Base 1 3 1
Tier A 4 45 0.45
Tier B 46 175 0.36
Tier C 176 315 0.27
Tier D 316 + 0.2
Value Units for non MSU-based S/390® processors:
Hardware Value Units/machine MP3000 H30 6 MP3000 H50 8 MP3000 H70 12 ESL Models 2
Ordering example: The total number of Value units is calculated according to the following example.
If the customer has installed 1,500 MSUs, the applicable value would be:
Translation from MSUs to Value Units
MSUs * Value Units/MSU = Value Units
Base 3 * 1.00 = 3.00
Tier A 42 * .45 = 18.90
Tier B 130 * .36 = 46.80
Tier C 140 * .27 = 37.80
Tier D 1,185 * .20 = 237.00
Total 1,500 343.50
When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.
Example: In the above ordering example, for the product running on a machine with 1,500 MSUs requiring 344 Value Units, order feature number 0001, quantity 94, and feature number 0002, quantity 1.
Ordering z/OS through the Internet
ShopzSeries (formerly SHOPS390) provides an easy way to plan and order your z/OS ServerPac or CBPDO. It will analyze your current installation, determine the correct product migration, and present your new configuration based on z/OS. Additional products can also be added to your order (including determination of whether all product requisites are satisfied). ShopzSeries is available in the U.S. and several countries in Europe. In countries where ShopzSeries is not yet available, contact your IBM representative (or Business Partner) to handle your order via the traditional IBM ordering process. For more details and availability, visit the ShopzSeries Web site at:
Basic license: To order, specify the program number, feature number 9001 for asset registration, and the one-time charge (OTC) feature number. Also specify the feature number of the desired distribution medium. To suppress shipment of media, select the license-only option in CFSW.
When ordering DB2 and IMS Tools for use in a Parallel Sysplex® environment specify the number of Value Units to cover the MSU capacity of the machines in the Parallel Sysplex to which DB2, IMS, or both are licensed. The following examples illustrate how this rule applies to different situations.
-
DB2, IMS, or both licensed on a single server
In a single IBM
zSeries® server with a capacity of 140 MSUs with DB2, IMS or both are licensed to it, DB2 and IMS Tools licenses are based on the 140 MSU capacity of the machine.
-
DB2, IMS, or both licensed under PSLC in a sysplex
In a four-way sysplex with DB2, IMS, or both on all four machines in the sysplex, DB2 and IMS Tools licenses are based on the total capacity in MSUs of all four machines or the total number of MSUs in the sysplex.
-
DB2, IMS, or both licensed under PSLC in a sysplex under CEC level
pricing
In a four-way sysplex with DB2, IMS, or both licensed to two machines in the sysplex, DB2 and IMS Tools licenses are based on the total capacity in MSUs of the two machines where DB2, IMS, or both are licensed.
Trade-ups are available to DB2 Performance Expert for z/OS, V2 from:
- DB2 Performance Monitor for z/OS
- DB2 Buffer Pool Analyzer for z/OS

Sub-capacity charges terms and conditions
zSeries software charges at less than full machine capacity for eligible tools apply when z/OS is running in z/Architecture (64-bit) mode on a zSeries 900, no other MVS-based operating system is licensed to that server, and the required information is provided by the customer in accordance with the applicable terms.
Sub-capacity charges for an eligible tool is based on the z/OS product-defined capacity. To obtain charges at less than full machine capacity for eligible tools, the customer is required to:
- Determine the MSUs needed for each machine on which the tools will run. Only machines on which the customer has implemented sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) according to the above terms and conditions, are eligible for charges at less than full machine capacity for the tools.
- Use the z/OS product-defined capacity (as specified on the Sub-Capacity Reports submitted to IBM for sub-capacity WLC) as the sub-capacity (MSUs) for each tool.
- Submit any additional MSUs and Value Units required for each product along with the current entitlement in Value Units for each product.
Sub-capacity charges for tools
To be eligible for sub-capacity charges for tools, the machine on which the tools are running must be eligible for WLC sub-capacity charges terms and conditions. The customer must have signed the Attachment for zSeries Workload License Charges-Pre-ILM, Z125-6516, and submitted at least one Sub-Capacity Report to IBM as defined in the attachment.
With sub-capacity charges, the charge for an eligible tool is based on the z/OS product-defined capacity. To obtain charges at less than full machine capacity for each eligible tool for each machine, the customer should:
- Determine the MSUs needed for the machine on which the tools will run. In a data sharing environment, determine the aggregate MSUs needed on the machine where the tools run. Use the product-defined capacity (MSUs) for z/OS (as specified on the Sub-Capacity Reports submitted to IBM for sub-capacity WLC) as the sub-capacity (MSUs) for each tool.
- Submit any additional MSUs and Value Units required for each product along with the current entitlement in Value Units for each product.
- If the use of sub-capacity pricing terms for tools results in a reduced requirement for Value Units, thus freeing up entitlements, customers can reallocate the entitlement difference by distributing the Value Units across a larger or different set of systems, or reserve them for future growth. There will be no refunds for these freed up Value Units. Subscription and Support volumes and entitlements for existing contracts will continue to be at the same levels as the acquired licenses.
Management of the Value Unit entitlements continues to be a customer responsibility. If one of the following occur on a machine to which tools are licensed, the customer must determine if additional Value Units and Subscription and Support need to be ordered for those tools to cover the increase:
- The z/OS product-defined capacity is increased.
- The requirements for WLC sub-capacity charges are no longer met.
On/Off Capacity on Demand
To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary
capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract Z125-6907, Amendment or
iSeries and pSeries® Temporary Capacity On Demand Software must be signed prior to use.
