IBM WebSphere Business Integration Modeler combines the process design tools used to model processes with the collaborative design environment that allows multiple users to work together. Using this offering, line-of-business professionals from multiple locations can develop business processes and be assured of consistent access to up-to-date process information. The offering provides ten licenses of IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench along with IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench Server in a conveniently packaged offering that scales to meet the needs of any team.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench

The IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench is an application that provides robust functionality for process modeling, enterprise modeling, business process analysis, and workflow translation.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench helps you model a process and enterprise, model the applications and design GUIs, analyze the process, and translate the process for workflow automation.

Business analysis is one of the critical and most useful capabilities of the IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench. Many business process modeling efforts stop at developing flow diagrams or process maps. However, with the IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench, the effort is extended to include analysis, redesign, application development, and automation.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench includes a UML modeler and an Xform designer.

New to this release are the following product enhancements:

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench Server

Collaboration, change control management, teamwork, and shared work space have become ever more important in today's working environment. This is particularly true in situations where work revolves around significant endeavors, such as business process management, where very large processes are modeled, analyzed, reviewed, and redesigned by many team members.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench Server addresses the needs of users who work in this highly collaborative environment. This product provides repository management and Web publishing capabilities, facilitating process design collaboration and instant Web access to process models, policies, procedures, and business rules.

New to this release are the following enhancements:

  • Easier migration through the ability of supporting previous releases of WebSphere Business Integration Workbench. V4.2.4 of WebSphere Business Integration Workbench Server will now work with either V4.2.3 or V4.2.4 of WebSphere Business Integration Workbench.
  • Double-byte and bi-directional character set support for keyboard input, display, and printing.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench Server consists of two components:

  • Repository

Repository is a content management solution that provides centralized storage of business process models. It:

    • Offers multi-user support
    • Specifies user access rights in order to control user actions
    • Can add an organization file to the database with a default name or specified name
    • Provides a friendly, easy-to-use user interface with resizable windows
    • Secures storage of organization processes and data

    • Offers search tools to locate specific repository data
    • Offers a Java™ 2 Platform, Entry Edition (J2EE)-based application designed for deployment using WebSphere Application Server
  • Web Publisher

Web Publisher helps manage and disseminate information about business processes by publication of the models and associated information via the Web. Web Publisher:

    • Can browse organization files containing information about processes, policies, procedures, and lines of value (LOVs)
    • Offers an Internet-based delivery method, enabling distribution of company reports, policies, procedures, directives, goals, documentation, and process models
    • Informs, educates, and trains personnel on business processes, goals, policies, procedures, and business rules
    • Provides organization charts and employee directories
    • Offers detailed information about task inputs and outputs and external entities
    • Provides a listing of employees by organization
    • Tracks procedures by:
      • Their use and status
      • Where they are used
      • Who is affected by them
      • Their associated business rules
    • Offers a J2EE-based application designed for deployment using WebSphere Application Server

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor helps track processes, events, and business performance measures, and generates statistical reports for analysis based on actual data. In addition, IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor facilitates completion of the cycle of business process improvement by feeding actual information back to the IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench for further analysis and process redesign. This provides the basis for business process management, which turns the process into a continuous improvement cycle.

New to this release of the product are the following enhancements:

  • Ability to monitor data and events from WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker V5.0 and WebSphere MQ Integrator Broker V2.1
  • Ability to monitor non-process data by retrieving information from external databases.
  • Customizable portlets for the Workflow Dashboard, Business Dashboard, and other user interfaces so that they can be delivered through the WebSphere Portal Server
  • Ability to breakout aggregate values in the Business Dashboard by business measures (for example, "total number of new items" by "claim type")
  • Ability to authenticate users against an external Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
  • Key usability enhancements
  • Ability to define multiple filters through binary expressions ("and", "or", "not")
  • Ability to edit performance measures directly in the Monitor client
  • Improved graphs and charts
  • Ability to run on Solaris 9
  • API programming guide
  • Double-byte and bi-directional characters support for keyboard input, display, and printing
  • Ability to import and export user and group security profiles between environments (for example to move from testing to production)

The basic function of IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor is to track data generated by a variety of environments and to correlate that information to process models that were defined in IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench. The process model serves as a basis for visualizing the performance of the process as it happens, in real time. You can see what activities are being performed, who is performing them, and where there are bottlenecks. IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor can also monitor non-process data from sources such as databases.

IBM WebSphere Business Integration Monitor consists of two components:

  • Workflow Dashboard

Workflow Dashboard helps you track processes, work items, and business performance measures (modeled in IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench) in real time and take corrective actions. Upon invocation of a corrective action, Workflow Dashboard will then issue a command to WebSphere MQ Workflow via the appropriate APIs.

    Workflow Dashboard helps you:

    • Track a process and its business performance in real time
    • View process instances and activity instances
    • Perform administrative duties and corrective actions, such as suspending, terminating, and load balancing
    • Monitor current processes and identify their performance measures in real time
    • Export data to process models in Workflow Dashboard
    • Enhance workflow alert system and event reporting based on user defined business measures
    • Provide event storage and reporting
    • Offer a J2EE-based application designed for deployment using WebSphere Application Server
  • Business Dashboard

Business Dashboard is used to generate reports based on historical data. It offers a set of analytical tools such as trend and quartile analyses.

    Business Dashboard helps you:

    • Generate comprehensive, detailed, customizable statistics based on historical process data and business performance measures
    • Produce performance-oriented decision making that enables management to proactively manage the business process to optimize performance
    • Provide user-defined performance measures that include financial, cost, time, and utilization
    • Offer trend and quartile analyses capabilities
    • Provide actual data export to IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench, allowing IBM WebSphere Business Integration Workbench to perform analysis on actual data
    • Offer external visibility that can be authorized for external entities affected by the process
    • Make available actual versus estimated statistical information for analysis and redesign of business processes
    • Offer a J2EE-based application designed for deployment using WebSphere Application Server

You are also required to obtain a corresponding number of additional PLUs if the program installation is moved to a server machine with a greater number of processors, or if any additional processors are added to the server machine on which the program is installed.

Failure to comply with the requirement for the appropriate number of PLUs will constitute a material breach of this license and will automatically terminate your rights hereunder.

Licensing for machines that have five or more processors are eligible for Special Bid. Contact your IBM representative. Also refer to the License Information supplied with your updated copy of the program.

For details on the licensing information, refer to:

Migration

Existing customers will receive updated media packs soon after the products become generally available under the new terms.

Migration for customers who have existing capacity unit license entitlements will be at the time of maintenance renewal. A standard conversion rate of two capacity units to one processor license unit will be used. In the majority of situations, this conversion will ensure that users have the correct number of licenses on the processor license unit metric. However, where machines have five or more processors (and in a few other cases), the standard conversion will not give the required number of licenses. In this case, when contacted by IBM, you should discuss acquiring additional licenses in order to be correctly licensed under the new pricing model. You will not be charged for additional licenses granted under this process, but maintenance renewal prices will be based on the number of licensed processors.

Licensing for machines with five or more processors are eligible for Special Bid. For additional information visit:
