For ordering, contact: Your IBM representative or the Americas Call Centers at 800-IBM-CALL (Reference: YE001). OverviewThis announcement delivers the foundation for financial networks messaging infrastructure on AIX® and Sun Solaris platforms:
Expanding to the AIX and Sun Solaris platforms, WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks and the Extension for SWIFTNet help financial institutions remain competitive in the ever-changing world of wholesale payments messaging. WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks, part of the WebSphere Business Integration set of offerings, offers this leading-edge financial message integration platform and delivers a robust, scalable, and flexible solution. Based on industry-leading middleware, WebSphere MQ technology, the open architecture of WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks meets today's network integration requirements and establishes a foundation for future communications extensions. Financial institutions can use WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks to access various networks or network applications such as SWIFT Secure IP Network (SIPN) and FIN. The Extension for SWIFTNet is a logical migration path for moving IBM MERVA X.25-based SWIFT FIN messaging traffic over to the SIPN to help protect your investment in MERVA. The previously announced WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms per processor offering for AIX is withdrawn and replaced by this announcement. IBM plans to deliver additional capabilities in a phased approach consistent with the Statement of General Direction for WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks. Refer to Software Announcement 203-097 , dated April 8, 2003. Planned availability dateElectronic distribution begins on July 25, 2003. For details, refer to Planned availability dates in the Description section. DescriptionFinancial institutions can employ this foundation of services to centralize common tasks such as:
Advantages for sharing these services include:
The WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base is the central messaging infrastructure. It provides the common elements needed by all external network connections along with centralized control and tracking capabilities. The Extension for SWIFTNet offers a solution to financial institutions needing to migrate from the X.25-based SWIFT Transport Network (STN) to SWIFT SIPN. A bridge enables IBM MERVA customers to redirect traffic to SIPN. You can also use configure, administer, operate, and monitor the SWIFT Alliance Gateway (SAG) workstations centrally. Customers must have an appropriate IBM MERVA ESA license to use the WBI-FN Extension for SWIFTNet. The WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base is available as a standard offering and also as a lower priced entry edition. The standard offering allows financial institutions to truly take advantage of the cost reduction benefits offered by connecting the base to up to three extensions. WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base provides access to a specific network or services over networks. Possible examples of such extensions would be WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Extension for SWIFTNet, for CHIPS, for Fedwire, for RTGS+, and for EBA Step 2, though only the Extension for SWIFTNet has been released to date, and IBM reserves the right to decide whether to release additional extensions. Alternately for customers primarily interested in connecting to a particular network in the near term, such as SWIFTNet, WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Entry Edition Base offers a more cost-effective option, allowing customers to connect the base to a single extension only. The WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base, the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Entry Edition Base, and the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Extension for SWIFTNet are priced based upon the customer's message usage volume (message-based value units), the same metric used for the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks offering on the z/OS platform. For additional information refer to the Ordering information section. Message-based value unit pricing provides more transparency and enables customers to better align timing of IT investment with business operation needs. This product is provided in International English only. Planned availability dates AIX

Security, auditability, and controlWebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks uses the security and auditability features of the system operating system. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Ordering informationThis product is available only via Passport Advantage. It is not available as shrinkwrap. Product Group: WebSphere Business Integration Product Identifier Description (PID): WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms (5724-D96) Product Category: WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks The charge unit for WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks for Multiplatforms is message-based value units. The WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Base, the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Entry Edition Base, and the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks Extension for SWIFTNet are priced based on the customer's message usage volume (message-based value units), the same metric used for the WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks offering on the z/OS® platform. A message is defined as a transaction external to WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks. Such transactions are typically measured when leaving WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks and entering the network or network access controller (such as the SAG), and when leaving the network or network access controller (such as the SAG) and entering WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks. Importantly, a transaction may constitute a single message even though the transaction includes multiple messages. For example, a single SWIFTNet FIN message may consist of:
On the other hand, a business service may consist of multiple transactions that constitute multiple messages. For example, when a SWIFTNet FIN payment order gets confirmed by the receiving bank, this constitutes two transactions and two messages. Messages sent and received over SWIFTNet on an attached MERVA USE and Branch with SWIFT Link are to be added to the number calculated for the central MERVA ESA installation; additional features or authorizations, as appropriate, must be obtained to extend use levels. Additional examples and other information regarding how to calculate message/value units for other extensions; WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks will be provided if and when these extensions are available. The volume of messages relevant for pricing purposes is the total number of messages a licensed user sends and receives using WebSphere Business Integration for Financial Networks in the month (the peak month), of the preceding 12 months, during which the licensed user sent and received the highest number of messages (the peak volume). These messages will then be converted to value units for pricing purposes. Customer must pay for additional licenses and maintenance if their message volumes exceed the peak volumes used in determining their current pricing. Value Unit Exhibit VUE002
