Description

WCPE and WCBE provide business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) enhancements over previous versions of WebSphere Commerce products.

B2C

  • B2C Store Models — Enhancements in V5.5 include additional promotion rules, sophisticated search capabilities, and enhanced Store Configuration Services to improve customers' online buying experience.
  • Integration Enhancements — WC V5.5 delivers a comprehensive, yet affordable, integration solution that addresses the enterprise needs through a mix of prepackaged and add-on capabilities. Key enhancements include:
    • WebSphere Business Integration (WBI) support — Provide a new transport mechanism used by subsystems to interact with external systems through WBI collaborations. This is done by sending synchronous messages and taking advantage of the existing WC messaging system.
    • Support end-to-end integration with SAP through WBI Reference Application.
    • WC Messaging system — existing WC Common Connector Framework (CCF) is enhanced to support Java™ 2 Enterprise Edition Connector Architecture (J2EE/CA) standard including JavaMail Connector, JMS Connector, and File Connector.
    • MQ Transport Adaptor — upgrades to support J2EE/CA-compliant.
  • Marketing and Merchandising — Deliver enhanced targeted e-mail campaign, advanced rules-based discounts or promotions and improved tooling for merchandising associations such as cross sells and up sells.
    • E-mail Support:
      • E-mail delivery of news and promotions
      • Manage e-mail activities at store level instead of site level and view statistics on e-mail activities
    • Marketing Campaigns:
      • Support e-mail as a campaign delivery mechanism
      • Time sharing of multiple initiatives on same spot
    • Advanced Discounts and Promotions;
      • Rules-based discount supports complex promotion models such as shipping discount and buy one get one free
      • Supports advanced scheduler for upcoming promotions
    • Coupons Enhancements:
      • Allow guest shoppers to capture and redeem eCoupons and manage eCoupons using a coupon wallet
      • Allow merchandiser to create eCoupons promotion, manage eCoupon promotion, and modify eCoupon promotion terms
    • Cross-Sells and Up-Sells:
      • Enhancements in merchandising and campaigns toolings allow target product to be recommended at runtime based on the content of the current page, shopping cart, and previous purchases
      • Predefined merchandising associations in catalog
  • Catalog Management Tooling — Simplify product content management through the following enhancements:
    • Content Creation and Management Toolings — Allows user to perform product and editorial content creation and management tasks quickly and effectively.
    • Bulk File Aggregation — Enhanced bulk file management tools provide out of the box support for importing content from trading partners and bulk file import support to catalog manager
  • Product Advisor Enhancements — Product Advisor creates an interactive online product catalog that provides customers with different ways of finding what they want, called shopping metaphors. Enhancements in WC V5.5 include:
    • Creating a search space — Two search methods are supported: separate search space would perform optimized parametric search with focus on categories and base search space would search the WebSphere Commerce database that is created during instance configuration.
    • Creating the Product Exploration metaphor — Allows a customer to view a list of products which has matching parameter values within a given category of products.
    • Creating the Product Comparison metaphor — Allows a customer to view the related products side by side for similarities and differences.
    • Creating a Guided Sell metaphor — Provides a customer a series of multiple choice questions to guide the customer to refine their search to a smaller list of products.
  • Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) — WebSphere Commerce Analyzer (WCA), an analytical solution, enables WCPE and WCBE V5.5 customers to analyze information related to their customers' e-commerce activities. WebSphere Commerce customers can improve the effectiveness of their company's marketing campaigns and promotions. WCA significantly extends analytical capabilities provided by the WCA Entry version, which is packaged with WC V5.4 editions. WCA V5.5 provides the following features:
    • A BI infrastructure integrated with the following IBM Data Management programs:
      • DB2 Universal Database® (UDB) Enterprise Server Edition V8.1
      • Intelligent Miner™ for Data V8.1
    • A documented and customizable datamart.
    • Extraction, transformation, move, and load (ETML) functions to extract and transform WebSphere Commerce operational data sources using aggregation and summarizing techniques. This now includes support for Coupons, Discounts, and multiple stores.
    • Data mining models, which enable the analyzing of complex data characterizations, relationships, and projections with regard to customer segmentation.
    • End-user Web analytical reporting enablement for WebSphere Commerce's Reporting Framework.
  • Operational Report — Based on WebSphere Commerce Reporting Framework, generates reports in real time. These reports can provide useful information about the sales, traffic, and customers from your site. The following types of reports are accessible through the system:
    • Category 
    • Product
    • Order Item Detail
    • Order Item Fulfillment
    • Order Status
    • Region
    • Region (all stores)
    • Site Overview
    • Store Activity
    • Store Performance Evaluation

  • Tivoli® Web Site Analyzer V4.2 helps turn raw Web data into valuable e-business intelligence. It provides you with a clear picture of the overall health and integrity of your e-business infrastructure supporting business impact management.

    By capturing, analyzing, storing, and reporting on Web site usage, health, integrity, and site content, Tivoli Web Site Analyzer provides essential metrics on visitor interactions with the site and the site's overall performance. Its multichannel data collection consolidates globally-distributed Web server logs including logs generated in a z/OS® environment into a single open data warehouse.

    In addition, Web page information can be captured dynamically via Tivoli Web Site Analyzer's Web Tracker function providing a more real-time view. Using these functions, Tivoli Web site Analyzer can create detailed reports and views on Web server activity, visitor statistics, and visitor behavior. Integrating the critical end-user experience dimension provides the benefit of deeper, more complex analysis.

  • WebSphere Commerce Payments provides a secure electronic payment process for Internet merchants through a single, unified interface. Based on open standards-based technology, WebSphere Commerce Payments works with plug-ins called "payment cassettes" to support multiple payment protocols. Support for existing cassettes include OfflineCard, CustomOffline VisaNet, and BankServACH cassettes. Enhancements in WC V5.5:
    • Support for a new cassette for Paymentech including connectivity is added
    • Add support for SSL Connectivity to VirtualNet system via VisaNet cassette
    • Add support for SSL and Leased Line connectivity to the FHMS system via the VisaNet cassette
    • Automatic restart of Commerce Payments without manual intervention to support 24 x 7 operation and recoverability
  • System Management WebSphere Commerce V5.5 provides the following enhancements:
    • Administration — System management options can be separately installed by way of the WebSphere Commerce custom install.
    • Organization and User Administration — Separate from Admin Console. This tool can be used by administrator in the customer organization as well as by site administrator to manage all customers.
    • Problem Determination — WC Problem Determination Tool automatically validates the correctness of WebSphere Commerce Installation and instance creation and JRas, the WebSphere Commerce logging infrastructure consolidated with WebSphere Application Server to allow for use of common tooling and to correlate logging data throughout the system.
    • Performance Monitoring — Integrated use of WebSphere Application Server Performance Monitoring Interface (PMI) enabling WebSphere Commerce data to be viewed through the Tivoli Performance Viewer.
  • Installation improves ease of installation and configuration to ensure a system is installed correctly and prerequisites are available. Enhancements in WC V5.5:
    • WebSphere Commerce V5.5 and all its associated software can now be installed through the WebSphere Commerce Install Shield based on Install Shield for Multiplatform Edition (ISMPE).
    • Express Install allows you to quickly install WebSphere Commerce and create a WebSphere Commerce instance with minimal user interaction.
    • Configuration Manger is enhanced to support remote machine configurations and an addition of Password Manager Tool which lets you manage their WebSphere Commerce passwords from a single location.
    • A new Problem Determination (PD) Tool: A Java base tool that analyzes the up and running logs and generates reports for troubleshooting problem.
  • Web Services You can allow WebSphere Commerce to be the service provider by enabling its business functions as Web services that can be accessed by external systems. You can also allow WebSphere Commerce to be the service requester by enabling it to invoke Web services hosted by external systems.

B2B

  • Channel Management — WCBE V5.5 provides a new channel management feature to support value chains for business to business transactions involving multiple enterprises or parties. Products, goods, services, or information are delivered through the parties of the value chain from producers to end users.

    A value chain also has relationship and administrative aspects, that is, you can manage the relationship of the partners or enterprises, in your value chain, as well as offer administrative services to those parties. WCBE introduces a number of capabilities to support both demand chains and supply chains such as:

    • Business relationship management between channel partners and suppliers
    • Product information management for channel partners and suppliers
    • Private marketplace
    • Distributed order management
    • Channel inventory visibility
    • Order hand-off and order status tracking
    • Comarketing with channel partners and suppliers
    • Multiparty RFQ and RFP
    • Secured sign-on and access control for channel partners and suppliers
    • Self-provisioning for channel partners and suppliers
    • Collaboration with channel partners and suppliers
    • Self-provisioning for suppliers
    • Collaboration with suppliers

  • Hosting Support — WCBE V5.5 provides support for hosting channels partners in the value chain, as well as hosting of merchants or other businesses by an Internet Service Provider or other hosting providers.
  • B2B Store Enhancement — WCBE V5.5 is enhanced with new types of stores to support value chain and hosting commerce transactions:
    • Direct Sales Store — Also available in WC V5.4; it can be a B2B store or a B2C store.
    • Commerce Hub — Introduced in WCBE V5.5 including a Reseller Hub, Hosting Hub, or Supplier Hub:
      • Reseller Hub — A reseller hub in a demand chain, is usually owned by a manufacturer or distributor and helps move products from suppliers to resellers, and eventually to consumers. The site owner creates and manages the master catalog in the reseller hub. Resellers log into the reseller hub, browse product catalog and add products to shopping cart. Resellers can check product availability, supplier location, and prices from multiple remote suppliers. Resellers can split their shopping cart among different remote suppliers based on product availability, prices, and other factors.

        When the order is completed, the shopping cart is handed off to the designated remote suppliers to complete the transaction. In addition, resellers can have a store hosted by the manufacturer, integrated with the reseller hub for fulfillment of orders.

      • Supplier Hub — A supplier hub in a supply chain, is usually owned by a large enterprise buyer such a manufacturer, where suppliers are invited to participate to supply their products to the buyer. In a supplier hub, the buyer can request quotes, compare prices, and negotiate contracts with suppliers. Suppliers can also be hosted on the site to sell directly to the buyer for some of their catalog items without going through the marketplace.
      • Hosting Hub — A hosting hub in hosting support, is usually owned by an Internet Services Provider or a large manufacturer, where a set of self-provisioning tools are provided to the merchants or resellers to create and manage their own stores. Merchant or reseller stores can share the master catalog created by the site owner in the hosting hub, or they can build their own independent catalog. Hosted stores can track inventory and fulfill orders from customers. A hosted store usually shares a common page template design and shopping flow with other hosted stores with choices of different style sheets and logo for the hosted stores.
    • Hosted Store — Introduced in WCBE V5.5; stores owned by Hosted Resellers under Reseller Hub, Hosted Merchants, or Resellers under Hosting Hub and Hosted Suppliers under Supplier Hub.
  • Live Help/Customer Care Collaboration offers an integrated "live help" and customer care function integrated out-of-the-box and based on Lotus® Sametime®. This feature allows your partners, suppliers, and customers to have real-time communication with you for decision-making and negotiations. Your business decisions and processes can be streamlined with this collaboration tool making it easier and faster to do business. Enhancements in WC V5.5 includes:
    • Support multiple queues and provide enhanced capabilities on queue management
    • Support monitoring of customized customer attributes in a store
    • Support customer requests to be routed into queues
  • Customer Entitlement and Contract-Based Commerce — Available only with the Business Edition, besides support for buyer-seller contract, enhanced to provide support for manufacturing-distributor and manufacturing-reseller hosting contracts under channel management. Other enhancements include:
    • Support new XSD format in Account and Contract create/update notebooks
    • Add Import and Find dialogs to the Business Relationship Management (BRM) contract list
    • Add ability for a contract to refer to another contract through contract notebook such as the common terms and conditions of a base contract
  • RFQ — Available only with the Business Edition, it provides the capability for an RFQ to solicit quotes for a specific set of goods and services between buyer and supplier. Enhancements in WC V5.5:
    • Support more RFQ closing rule such as RFQ will be closed if a specific number of responses are received
    • Provide targeted RFQ support, attachments to RFQ, made-to-orders items in RFQ and multiround RFQ support
    • Allow creation of RFQ without setting up the interest list, add items from the requisition list, grouping of the products in RFQ, substitution of products in response, and specify a fulfillment center in the response
  • Online Buyer/Seller Collaboration — Available only with the Business Edition, it provides a contract draft and proposal discussion template, based on Lotus QuickPlace™. This template is integrated into the B2B store model included with WCBE. A seller company's sales or account manager can create a draft contract, share this contract with buyers in the buying organization, and also discuss the contract using threaded discussion on Lotus Domino™. Additional features also allow online buyers and sellers to make decisions about the quantity and content of orders, delivery dates, promotions, and designs of new products.

WCStudio Developer Editions

WCStudio Developer Editions V5.5 provide the tools to develop and test commerce store and manage assets for e-commerce application under WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) environment on Microsoft™ Windows® 2000. A copy of WebSphere Commerce for Windows 2000 is included with Commerce Studio Developer Edition for testing purposes. Commerce developers will be able to take advantage of the tools provided by WSAD:

  • Integrated visual Page Designer helps Web developers easily create HTML pages and JavaServer Page (JSP) files.
  • Workbench environment allowing developments teams to organize and manage Web development projects.
  • Wizards make the creation of dynamic Web pages simple by generating JSP files, JavaBeans code, SQL statements, and servlets based on your requirement.
  • Integrated applet designer allows you to quickly create Java applets in a visual development environment.
  • Web art designer lets you create masthead images, button, and other graphics.
  • Animated GIF designer makes it easy to create animated GIFs.
  • Building Java application, applets, servlets, and JavaBeans code.

    • TCP/IP to WebSphere Commerce production database
    • Shared file system (for example, NETBIOS, NFS, SAMBA, or other) between WCA Server and WebSphere Commerce server
  • Database access: WCA can extract data from DB2 V8.1 or Oracle database on the WebSphere Commerce Server. For Oracle ODBC support, both Oracle 9iR2 and DB2 DataJoiner® V2.1.1 are required on the WebSphere Commerce server.
  • Replication: If WebSphere Commerce is installed on an AS/400, then data replication requires DB2 DataPropagator™ for AS/400, V7.1, which must be purchased separately.

Planning Information

Customer Responsibilities: Consider the installation, design, implementation, and maintenance of the WebSphere Commerce system. It is recommended strongly that Global Services or Business Partners be used to assist in these activities, unless adequate in-house skills are available. To implement a complete WebSphere Commerce system, you or a business partner should have the following skills:

  • Basic systems and network administration skills
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, including HTTP and SSL
  • Experience in administering a Web server such as the HTTP Server
  • Experience in creating Web Content using HTML and Java
  • Understanding of relationship database concepts
  • Ability to perform basic SQL queries
  • Java programming skills for advanced customization

Security, Auditability, and Control

WebSphere Commerce Products V5 uses the security and auditability features of the Windows 2000, AIX, Solaris and OS/400.

The SLL protocol, an Internet open standard, is used to encrypt communications between the Web browser and the Web server as well as between WebSphere Commerce components.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

The price of WCBE or WCPE is based on the number of processors executing all or any part of the WebSphere Commerce program.

The price of WCStudio Business Developer or Professional Developer Edition is based on the number of users using the WCStudio program.

Number of Processors and Stores

For the purposes of WebSphere Commerce licensing, a Store is defined as a Web-enabled store deployed by WebSphere Commerce. Reseller Hubs, Hosting Hubs, and Supplier Hubs are marketplaces where multiple buyers and suppliers are supported. A Hosted Store is a Web-enabled store that works with a Reseller Hub, Hosting Hub, or Supplier Hub depending on the business scenarios.

Each processor license for WCPE entitles the licensee to run on one processor and includes an entitlement for a maximum of five stores. The customer must acquire additional processor licenses for each processor executing all or any part of WCPE, or exceeding five stores.

Each processor license for WCBE entitles the licensee to run on one processor and includes an entitlement for a maximum of five stores including Reseller Hub, Hosting Hub, and Supplier Hub and 50 Hosted Stores. The customer must acquire additional processor licenses for each processor executing all or any part of WCBE, or exceeding five stores including Reseller Hub, Hosting Hub, and Supplier Hub, or 50 Hosted stores of the same type.

Proofs of Entitlement are only required for stores in production use, that is, no store Proofs of Entitlement are required for stores in development, test, or staging use.

To improve performance, a Web site powered by WebSphere Commerce may consist of multiple clones of the WebSphere Commerce Server. Cloning of WebSphere server on a single processor machines does not require additional processor licenses; but additional processor licenses are required when WebSphere Commerce is used in a multiprocessor or multimachines environment.

Number of Users

Each WCStudio user license entitles one user to use the WCStudio product for development. Additional user licenses must be acquired if more than one user is required for development.

DB2, WebSphere Commerce Staging, Backup Servers

DB2 UDB is included with WebSphere Commerce to be used exclusively with WebSphere Commerce. If WCPE or WCBE is installed, the DB2 client portion must be installed on the same machines as WCPE or WCBE and the DB2 server portion can be installed on a separate server.

In addition, you are authorized to install and use a copy of DB2 UDB components on the same processor as WCA. WCA is allowed to retrieve data used and generated by WebSphere Commerce by using DB2 Data Warehouse Center for business analysis.

All WebSphere Commerce servers, including staging and backup servers, that use WebSphere Commerce program require their own WebSphere Commerce license.

Licensing: IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA). Proofs of Entitlement are required for all authorized use.

Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

Limited Warranty Applies: Yes

Program Services: These programs have program services for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized business partner. Customers will be notified of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice.

Money-Back Guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

All products require the correct licensing terms. The software products provided on the product media are provided solely for use with your licensed use of the WebSphere Commerce product as described in the program unique license information that is provided to you electronically. If the total number of processors or total number of stores exceeds the number authorized by the applicable Proofs of Entitlement acquired under Passport Advantage, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

Software Maintenance Applies: Yes

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the product announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.

IBM includes Software Maintenance with each program acquired during the coverage period. The coverage period means the period commencing on the date you acquire the program up to the first anniversary date. The coverage period for Software Maintenance acquired in the two months preceding an anniversary date will be extended to the next applicable anniversary date.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect: IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation, and usage (how-to) questions; and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at:

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.
