OverviewWebSphere® Everyplace™ Connection Manager (WECM) Starter Edition is designed for customers who want the benefits of WECM, but want to start on a smaller scale than is allowed under the full entitlement version of WECM. With the WECM Starter Edition, you can start with a smaller investment and expand your implementation at your own pace. WECM Starter Edition includes the same function as the current release of WECM with different licensing terms and pricing. It allows you to realize the benefits of WECM by using the complete product with up to a maximum of 50 users and at a lower entry price. When you are ready to expand, you can convert your license to the full entitlement version of WECM without reinstalling the program software. For information about the cost of converting your WECM Starter Edition licenses to the full entitlement version of WECM, contact your IBM Pervasive Computing representative. There is a usage restriction associated with the WECM Starter Edition. Refer to the Terms and Conditions section. DescriptionThe WECM Starter Edition is intended for customers who want to start with a small WECM installation and expand at a later time. After working with the WECM Starter Edition on a small scale, you can continue to expand your WECM environment by converting your user WECM Starter Edition license to the full entitlement version of WECM. You do not have to reinstall the software. Contact your IBM Pervasive Computing representative to get information about the price of converting to WECM licensing. When you want to expand your WECM environment, you can add additional licensing without reinstalling the program software. Contact your IBM Pervasive Computing representative for information about the price of converting to the processor licensing. The WECM Starter Edition includes a usage limitation. Customers are only entitled to use the program for up to a maximum of 50 users. A registered user is defined as a person who accesses and uses the program. A registered user is considered a distinct user. When the WECM V4.2 program is replaced by a new release, according to the Statement of Direction in Software Announcement 202-289 , dated October 15, 2002, the WECM Starter Edition program software will also be updated. Terms and ConditionsLicensing: IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA). Proofs of Entitlement (PoE) are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance. Installation and technical support for the WECM Starter Edition is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and electronic access into the IBM support organizations. IBM includes Software Maintenance with each program acquired during the coverage period. The coverage period means the period commencing on the date you acquire the program up to the first or second anniversary date, depending on whether you acquired coverage for one or two anniversaries. The coverage period for Software Maintenance acquired in the two months preceding an anniversary date will be extended to the next applicable anniversary date. While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. This assistance is not available to your end users. IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
