The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries allows you to

- IBM z/VM V4.3 (5739-A03) with one-year z/VM Subscription and Support (5739-SWS)
- IBM WebSphere Application Server V4 Advanced Edition for Linux on zSeries (BA03SML)
- IBM Directory Server V4.1 (downloadable from the Web)
- IBM Support services for all components, including one-year Linux Support Line

The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries is available
in these three offerings:

Description
The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries unites the
components within each offering in the following ways:
- Tests them as part of the comprehensive solution environment
- Places an order for the underlying components when an order is placed for one of the three offerings types (including SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 for S/390 and zSeries which is delivered directly by SuSE Linux)
- Supports them via the installation and customization assistance
- Charges a single, attractive price for the entire offering (including the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 for S/390 and zSeries, which is delivered directly by SuSE Linux)
Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries delivers a
set of core products for a strong e-business infrastructure in the
virtual Linux server environment, while enabling customers to address
specific requirements via the optional associated components.
The offering also includes a set of installation and customization
assistance in the form of documentation and scripts that lead you through
the steps required to install and customize z/VM, Linux, WebSphere
Application Server, and any optional software components. This material
can be viewed and downloaded from the Web.
Building an e-business Infrastructure
The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries is the
solution for building an integrated e-business infrastructure on Linux on
zSeries, utilizing existing key components such as zSeries hardware
(dedicated Linux engines — IFLs), z/VM, SuSE Linux, WebSphere, software
maintenance, and Linux SupportLine. These are the core products and
basic infrastructure of the virtual Linux server environment. These
components have been tested together to offer an e-business
infrastructure, designed upon IGS's established "patterns for
e-business."
The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries combines the
following components (depending on the chosen package):
Software
- IBM WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition V4 for Linux on zSeries (BA03SML) with one-year subscription and support
- IBM Directory Server V4.1, which is downloadable from the Web
- Installation and customization assistance in the form of documentation and scripts
- SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 for S/390 and zSeries (delivered directly from SuSE Linux)

- One-year z/VM Subscription and Support (5739-SWS)
- One-year Linux Support Line
One of the following Hardware Configurations
- 1, 2, or 3 IFL for z800

Product Positioning
The IBM Integrated Platform for e-business on zSeries targeted at
the existing zSeries medium and enterprise customers and service
providers who are implementing Web applications. It is intended for
enterprise customers who prefer packaged solutions instead of "piece
parts." The base components deliver a set of core products for the
e-business environment with Linux on zSeries, and the associated
components allow a solution environment that is customer specific. It is
primarily positioned as an e-business environment with strong business
integration capabilities with the traditional workloads and
mission-critical databases, and secondarily positioned as a consolidation
environment for middle tier UNIX®/Windows® servers.

Global Services
IBM Global Services (IGS) will utilize existing services for installation and implementation of the Integrated Platform offering. The IGS services required for the installation, customization, and tuning of the environment will be built from components of existing IGS Services and as well as utilizing the Integrated Platform offering installation scripts and instructions.
