IBM Infoprint® Fonts for Multiplatforms V1.1, a new font program, is
intended for the IBM This new program enhances the outline fonts that are currently available in the Advanced Function Printing (AFP) Font Collection. The enhancements include:
In addition, the GUIs that were in the AFP Font Collection are improved. V1.1 does not include raster fonts. The current AFP Font Collection products (5648-B33 and 5648-B45) will continue to be made available for those who desire raster fonts. Key PrerequisitesInfoprint Fonts for Multiplatforms requires an iSeries, pSeries, or Windows system with Print Services Facility or Infoprint Manager.
DescriptionIBM Expanded Core FontsThe IBM Expanded Core Fonts are provided with Infoprint Fonts. Code pages and coded fonts compatible with the Expanded Core Fonts are also provided. The IBM Expanded Core Fonts combine the IBM Core Interchange Fonts, IBM Coordinated Fonts, and IBM BookMaster® Fonts. The IBM Expanded Core Fonts are all derived from Adobe Type 1 font technology. They are provided in the AFP outline font format for OS/400®, AIX®, and Windows, and in the Type 1 format for AIX and Windows. The Expanded Core Fonts include the following font families:
Courier, Helvetica, and Times New Roman contain characters for the International Standards Organization (ISO) language groups listed under Languages Supported . Each of these three type families also contain a symbols collection of scientific, mathematical, and special-purpose characters in Roman Medium and Roman Bold typefaces. The IBM Expanded Core Fonts include characters for the following language groups defined in ISO Standard 8859:

Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) FontsThe DBCS fonts are derived from the Adobe CID-Keyed font and Type 1 technologies. They are provided in the AFP outline font format for OS/400, AIX, and Windows, and in the CID-Keyed format for AIX and Windows. DBCS Core Fonts: The DBCS Core Fonts are available for use with IBM Print Services Facility (PSF) licensed programs. These fonts contain the following typefaces suitable for printing a variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean documents:
DBCS Simulation Fonts: The DBCS Simulation Fonts are available for use with IBM PSF licensed programs. The DBCS Simulation Fonts are provided in AFP Outline Font format that simulates the following raster font products:
Type Transformer and UtilitiesThe Type Transformer single-byte program converts Type 1 outlines to 240 DPI®, 300 dpi, and AFP outline fonts. The Type Transformer double-byte program converts CID-Keyed fonts to 240 dpi and AFP outline fonts. The Type Transformer Utilities include the following:
Differences Between Infoprint Fonts and AFP Font CollectionThis section lists the enhancements of Infoprint Fonts V1.1.0 compared with the AFP Font Collection V2.1.1 (5648-B33, 5648-B45). The following applies to the Infoprint Fonts product in general:
General Font Library: The General Font Library contains the fonts referred to as single-byte fonts in the AFP Font Collection. The General Font Library also contains fonts that were not labeled in the AFP Font Collection, such as Arabic, Cyrillic/Greek, Latin, OCR, and Thai. Except as stated above, the Type Transformer and Utilities optional feature has no DBCS restrictions. Product PositioningHost-resident fonts are not included with IBM IPDS printers. They must be purchased separately. Infoprint Fonts provides a wide range of outline fonts for use with current IBM IPDS printers. Older IBM IPDS printers use raster fonts, which are included with the IBM AFP Font Collection program product. The Type Transformer and Utilities for Windows optional feature includes tools for managing and editing fonts. It also includes utilities for creating AFP outline fonts from Adobe CID-keyed and Type 1 outline fonts. Reference InformationIBM Infoprint Fonts for Multiplatforms V1.1 includes the same fonts as IBM Infoprint Fonts for z/OS V1.1 (5648-E76), which is intended for the S/390® and z/OS platforms. For more information about IBM Infoprint Fonts for z/OS V1.1 refer to Software Announcement 202-345 , dated December 17, 2002. Compatibility: Infoprint Fonts V1.1 and AFP Font Collection V2.1 may both be installed on the same system. Fonts and programs in AFP Font Collection V2.1 are compatible with fonts and programs in Infoprint Fonts V1.1 when used in accordance with associated documentation. Coded font flat files created using AFP Font Collection V1.1 cannot be used with Infoprint Fonts V1.1.

Security, Auditability, and ControlInfoprint Fonts uses the security and auditability features of the operating system under which it is installed. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Ordering InformationInfoprint Fonts has a one-time charge (OTC) for each feature of the product that is ordered. No upgrade from AFP Font Collection applies. Each Font Library feature is available on CD-ROM in formats for installation on OS/400, AIX, and Windows systems. The Type Transformer and Utilities optional feature is available on CD-ROM only in a format for installation on a Windows system. The General Font Library consists of Type-1 single-byte outline fonts. The other font libraries consist of CID-keyed double-byte outline fonts. Order an IBM Infoprint Fonts for Multiplatforms V1.1 license for each system on which the fonts are to be installed. All font libraries must be installed on the same system. The Type Transformer and Utilities optional feature may be installed on a separate Windows workstation, provided that the number of such workstations does not exceed the number of Type Transformer and Utilities optional features that are purchased.
