Product PositioningAs part of the WebSphere offering, the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters further extend the already exceptional breadth of IBM's portfolio of e-business infrastructure software. The combined WebSphere Business Integration Adapters, the WebSphere MQ Integrator (WMQI), and IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server (ICS) solutions help companies maximize the business results from their e-business initiatives and protect their investments in applications and systems. Connectivity is critical in establishing an enterprise-wide layer of data — extracting information from disparate sources within information systems. The WebSphere Business Integration Adapters allow companies to address seemingly disparate integration efforts within one coherent adapter-based approach. In addition to the prebuilt adapters released, a toolkit can be used in a services engagement to build new adapters required to complete particular customer integration scenarios. WebSphere Business Integration Adapters are designed to enable information connectivity and process integration. WebSphere Business Integration Adapters V2 products used with the ICS allow you to model and automate business processes across disparate systems and organizations.
Using the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters, companies can experience significant business benefits, regardless of the application, technology, or database where the information may reside. A company can also easily include external trading partners in its business processes and leverage Internet-based trading networks and exchanges. A product extension is available as a category 3 support pac (IO01) for WebSphere MQ Integrator Broker V2.1 and WebSphere MQ Integrator V2.1. enabling the import of XML schemas into the Message Repository Manager (MRM) of WebSphere MQ Integrator Broker and WebSphere MQ Integrator V2.1. In-bound and out-bound adapter message definitions created with the WebSphere Business Integration Adapters tooling can be exported as XML schema files and then imported using the support pac into the MRM. The advantages are that WebSphere MQ Integrator Broker V2.1 and WebSphere MQ Integrator V2.1 can quickly and easily interact with all existing and future WebSphere Business Integration Adapters, delivering speed to market of new business solutions. IBM also resells adapters from Peregrine Systems and Sybase, Inc./New Era of Networks and cooperates with a number of other partners to provide adapters for less common requirements.

Ordering InformationFor details on the licensing information, refer to: General License Terms Adapter Framework Terms A WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework license is required on each server hosting a licensed copy of a WebSphere Business Integration Adapter or the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit. A WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework license is required for each server hosting a copy of an adapter program constructed using the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit. Adapter Development Kit Terms Each user of the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit requires a concurrent user authorization to install and use one copy WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit. Each server hosting a licensed copy of a WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit requires a WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework license. When you use the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit to create your own adapter program, any server hosting a copy of that program requires a WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework license. General Adapter Terms Each WebSphere Business Integration Adapter requires a single license for each application instance that it connects to, except as otherwise set forth under Adapter Unique Terms. Adapter Unique Terms WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange for Trading Networks requires a single license per server. Each license entitles you with 100 Trading Profiles. A Trading Partner Profile is a single trading partner that can be entered and designated in Trading Partner Interchange to enable Trading Partner Interchange to exchange data with the trading partner. For each additional server you must acquire an additional WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange for Trading Networks license. WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange for Trading Networks requires a generic registration key for access to the Cyclone product. Information for registration keys is provided when installing specific components, or in accompanying documents entitled, "README.TXT." WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange Solo requires a single license per Solo connection. A Solo connection is from the trading partner to the WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange for Network and WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange for ASPs/Exchange. For each additional Solo connection, you must acquire a WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange Solo license. WebSphere Business Integration Trading Partner Interchange Solo requires a generic registration key for access to the Cyclone product. Information for registration keys is provided when installing specific components, or in accompanying documents entitled, "README.TXT." WebSphere Business Integration Adapters that access z/OS applications require a generic registration key. Information for registration keys is provided when installing specific components, or in accompanying documents entitled, "README.TXT." WebSphere Business Integration Data Handler for XML and WebSphere Business Integration Data Handler for EDI require a single license per connector. A connector is a single instance of a WebSphere Business Integration Data Handler for XML or WebSphere Business Integration Data Handler for EDI. For Third-Party Components The program contains several components, some of which are provided by third-party suppliers to IBM ("third-party components"). The third-party components have program-unique terms identified below, and apply to the program or the referenced component of the program in addition to or, as the case may be, in place of the terms and conditions of the International Program License Agreement (IPLA). In the event of any conflict between such program-unique terms and the terms of the IPLA, the program-unique terms shall prevail. The following terms and conditions apply for third-party components:
