Description

Business Integration

Consider the WebSphere platform for e-business.

Integrate a single department or the entire enterprise. Reach across your business channels, trading partners, and Web customers.

In one product, WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 contains the infrastructure software for integration, application connectivity, and workflow management.

Process Integration

  • Flexibility and Adaptability — Standards-based, business-process solutions simplify management of organizational change, such as mergers and acquisitions, business process re-engineering, or business-to-business initiatives, through a unified integration platform.
  • Enhanced Competitiveness — Better decision-making with a unified view of business processes and information.
  • Increased Efficiency — Streamlined and improved business-to-business transactions and internal operations. Synchronizes data, automates manual processes, and links enterprise business activities across organizations and to partners and exchanges.
  • Unmatched Speed of Implementation — Pre-built, function-rich products do not require knowledge of underlying applications or extensive coding time. You realize integration benefits faster.

Application Connectivity

  • Connect disparate, incompatible business systems. Access information from where it resides.
  • Route information intelligently, based on the content of the information being sent.
  • Publish relevant information only to those interested.
  • Deliver information to mobile devices, quickly and securely

Workflow Management

  • Manage the interaction between people and systems
  • Manage long-running transactions

Product Positioning

IBM identifies integration styles as:

  • Process Integration
    • Coordinate activities that span multiple systems and people
    • Automate and improve business processes
  • Application Connectivity
    • Create a single view of information and then make it available where and when it's needed
    • Ensure there's only one version of key business information that every part of the business uses

Customers looking to improve the operation of their business — both internally and externally — can realize cost and time-to-market reductions in deploying solutions that automate their key business processes. These results are more easily achieved due to attractive pricing coupled with the rapid deployment capability provided by the WebSphere Business Integration software.

Planning Information

Use of components on separate machines . WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 composite component consists of several run-time elements:

  • CrossWorlds InterChange Server
  • WebSphere MQ Integrator Broker for Multiplatforms V2.1 — Message Broker component
  • MQSeries Workflow V3.3.2 (Includes WebSphere MQ V5.2)

Note — CrossWorlds InterChange server release levels

  • June 11, 2002, V4.1 (U.S. English only)
  • June 28, 2002, V4.1.1 (National Language Support)

Combinations of these run-time elements must be installed on up to three registered machines at any one time under the terms and conditions of the WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 license. It is the use of the WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 that determines how Capacity Unit (CU) requirements are calculated. If the WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 is required on multiple servers, additional CUs for each server will be required. Calculations must be made using the appropriate type of processor for the operating system in use.

Customer Responsibilities: The customer must provide the minimum hardware and software environments in which the licensed programs reside.

The customer must identify the machines on which they will install WebSphere Business Integration V4.1. The customer or program provider must identify the number or processors in each machine and then calculate the total number of licenses required.

Problem determination (PD) is a customer responsibility. PD is an assessment of whether a problem is caused by hardware or software. PD is complete only when the cause of the problem is identified. This assessment includes examination of available symptoms using the PD procedures documented in the product.

Problem source identification (PSI) is a customer responsibility. PSI begins when software is determined to be the source of the problem. PSI includes tracing the source of the program to a host system control program (SCP), an application program, or another source. Assisting the customer with PSI is an IBM service and support responsibility.

Packaging: The product media packages contain:

  • License information document
  • CD-ROMs containing product code and softcopy publications

This program when downloaded from a Web site, contains the applicable IBM license agreement, and License Information (LI) for the individual products, if appropriate and will be presented for acceptance at the time of installation of the program. The license and LI will be stored in a directory such as LICENSE.TXT for future reference.

The LI for WebSphere Business Integration V4.1 is only available hardcopy as part of the product media pack. These terms and conditions are in addition to the terms and conditions contained in the individual product licenses.

Security, Auditability, and Control

The licensee may install and use all the program products and components included in the program media package only as part of a WebSphere Business Integration business solution. The licensee is entitled to install WebSphere Business Integration on up to three server machines. CUs must be purchased for the server machine with the most symmetrical multiprocessor units (SMPs). This machine is known as the reference server. Other machines, if used, are called associated servers. The licensee may install any combination of components of WebSphere Business Integration on the reference server. The licensee may install other components of WebSphere Business Integration, not installed on the reference server, on an associated server without additional charge. No component product may be installed on more than one server machine (reference server or associated server), except where stated below.

These terms and conditions are in addition to the terms and conditions contained in the individual program licenses.

  • CrossWorlds InterChange Server

The licensee may install and use this component on one of the servers on which WebSphere Business Integration is licensed.
