Overview
New Backup Recovery and Media Services (BRMS) function makes it more powerful and easier to use.
The BRMS plug-in to IBM 
iSeries Navigator better meets the needs of
more complex users.
The BRMS server now supports:
- Native TCP/IP
- Online incremental Lotus® server backup and recovery
- Integrated support for independent auxiliary storage pools
- Object detail on duplicated media
- Improved disaster recovery
- Additional Tivoli® Storage Manager (TSM) client functions
iSeries Client Access Family is renamed to iSeries Access.
iSeries Access for Web and WebSphere® Host Publisher V4 now run on WebSphere Application Server V4. iSeries Access for Web additionally runs on Apache Software Foundation's Jakarta Tomcat. iSeries Access for Web adds enhanced 5250 interface, support for PDF, e-mail integration, and much more.
iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux provides data access to DB2 Universal Database® (UDB) for iSeries from Linux programs.
Description
Backup Recovery and Media Services for iSeries (BRMS) (5722-BR1)
-
The BRMS System Recovery Report (QP1ARCY) steps are enhanced:
- Setting up stand-alone or media library devices for recovery
- Initializing BRMS functional authority information
- Updating system name in BRMS media information
- Configuring auxiliary storage pool devices
- Verifying auxiliary storage pool device names
- Recovering Linux servers in a logical partition
Detail added to many of the base steps helps improve the recovery process.
- Media policies used for TSM operations allow for a 64-character password, the maximum allowed by TSM servers. In addition, these passwords are stored by BRMS using a stronger encryption algorithm than available in earlier releases.
- The BRMS TSM client supports the PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE client option when used with the Tivoli Storage Manager OS/400® Client API, V4R2.1.
- BRMS supports backup and recovery of objects on auxiliary storage pool devices (auxiliary storage pools 33-255).
- The DUPMEDBRM command provides object detail for duplicated media. The object detail of the duplicated media is not actually copied, but is "keyed" to the original saved object detail to minimize the storage BRMS requires to maintain the duplicated detail information. Duplicated media always results in duplicated object detail, if object detail information is available for the duplicated items on the input media.
- The INZBRM command provides two new options. The *SETAUT option allows you to initialize the BRMS functional authorities. The *CHGSYSNAM option allows you to rename the owner of the BRMS media information and history information before recovering to a system or logical partition with a name different than when this information was saved.
- The STRMNTBRM command has a new parameter that allows you to reorganize the BRMS databases. Reorganizing the BRMS databases on a periodic basis helps minimize the amount of disk storage needed to maintain BRMS policies, media information, and history information on your system. This is particularly important if you save with object detail where a lot of history is expired each time the command runs.
- The BRMS restore commands and BRMS retrieve and recovery defaults allow use of the *FILELVL special value for the allow-object-differences ALWOBJDIF parameter.
- An attribute added to the Network Group allows you to indicate whether the system is enabled for TCP/IP communications. If you set this value to *YES, BRMS communicates with other systems in the BRMS network using TCP/IP.

Beginning with V5R1, BRMS provides a plug-in to iSeries Navigator. The
BRMS plug-in functions are significantly enhanced:
- A move policy wizard and move policy properties help you create and maintain move policies and to optionally create new locations. In addition, media functions and tasks enable you to perform and verify media movement operations.
- New backup policy properties allow you to specify media libraries and save files and TSM servers as backup devices with options to enable and specify parallel device backups. You can specify the days of the week when running commands before and after the backup or add special actions (exits) to be performed during backups. You can also define the type of incremental backup to use, what subsystems should be ended and restarted, and what job queues are to be held or released. You can also specify whether backup items are to be saved using save-while-active.
- Functions added to the backup policies folder allow you to create, update, and manage your backup lists and to save your backups to save files.
- New function in the move policies folder allows you to create, update, and manage your locations.
- A media pools folder added to the media folder enables you to create, update, and maintain your media pools (classes).
- The backup history — include panel is enhanced to allow you to filter the backup history based on expiration date, saved system, and disk pool name or number.
- The volumes — include panel is enhanced so you can filter the volumes based on location, container, owning system, and volumes marked for duplication, duplicated volumes, or secured volumes.
- Options added to run maintenance and cleanup allow you to select specific maintenance functions.
- Options added to print reports allow you to select one or more BRMS reports of various types for printing on the iSeries server.
- Global properties added to the plug-in lets you specify whether TCP/IP is to be used for BRMS network operations. You also can specify notification controls, sign-off exception, and IPL controls using these global properties.
- The restore wizard allows you to perform point-in-time recoveries of objects saved using online incremental Lotus server backups. In addition, the restore wizard supports restore of objects saved to TSM servers, objects saved to parallel devices, and objects saved to save files.

BRMS functionality is enhanced continually. Enhancements between regularly scheduled software releases are provided by PTF. Periodically review the BRMS Web site to learn of any new functions that might improve your backup and recovery strategy.
iSeries Access (5722-XW1)
iSeries Client Access is now called iSeries Access since the product provides data connectivity from other systems and platforms to iSeries servers.
iSeries Access: Order iSeries Access to get the family of products that provide access to iSeries servers (not just through Windows).
iSeries Access for Windows (Previously known as AS/400 Client Access Express for Windows)
Enhancements include:

- ODBC and OLE DB support ROWID, 64K SQL Statements, and additional descriptor information
- OLE DB can support updatable cursors for the SQL dialect
- OLE DB is thread safe (also available via PTF to V5R1 Client Access Express)
- Data Transfer can support uploading more than 256 columns of data to a database file
- Data Transfer supports Lotus 1-2-3 V9 file format
- Data can be accessed from multiple IASPs

Security
- iSeries Access for Windows can use a Kerberos server for authentication to an iSeries with Kerberos tickets sent to the iSeries in place of userID/password (users do not get a security prompt if they choose this option)
- Users of 56-bit encryption can use 128-bit encryption

5250 emulation
- Personal Communications 5250 V5.5 emulator is now included
- Bypass signon can be used in conjunction with Kerberos tickets to avoid a sign-on screen
- Support for Hindi and Japanese code page 1390/1399
- Wrap pasted text allows copy/paste of text across fields and lines without breaking a word or ending a line with an invalid word
- Move +/- sign before the number when copying/pasting (consistent with other Windows applications)
- Improved error messages

Install
- A task tray icon enables silent installs so that users know when a silent install is occurring. Users also can track install progress.
- Customized install CD images can be created that include the SSL component.

Windows support
- Windows XP is supported (also available via PTF to V5R1 for Client Access Express).
- Windows 95 is no longer supported.
- The ODBC and OLE DB components are ported to run natively on 64-bit Windows (on Intel® Itanium hardware). Most other components run in 32-bit mode on 64-bit hardware (print drivers and SSL support do not run with 64-bit applications).

You can migrate to V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows from the following

You can migrate to V5R2 iSeries Access for Windows from the following
products:
iSeries Access for Web: iSeries Access for Web runs on WebSphere Application Server V4 (the V5R1 version of iSeries Access for Web runs on WebSphere Application Server V3.5) and on Apache Software Foundation's Jakarta Tomcat. Also, this version can be configured to run on more than one Web application server concurrently. New functions introduced in this release include:

iSeries Access for Web contains its own 5250 interface and no longer uses
the WebSphere Host Publisher XML Gateway when starting 5250 sessions.
This new 5250 interface contains many additional capabilities, for
example:
- Workstation ID (device ID) can be configured and provides wildcard support similar to the PC5250 emulator in iSeries Access for Windows
- Two switchable views: Web view and traditional view, each fully customizable
- Function keys and page up and page down support (works with Internet Explorer 5, and later browsers, and requires JavaScript)
For more details on the capabilities in the 5250 interface, refer to:
- Jobs support: Users can view jobs they've submitted and server jobs working on their behalf. These jobs can also be managed using the hold, release, delete, and view job log commands.
- Batch command enhancements: Commands can be saved and retrieved later. They can also be searched by name or description. For example, users can enter: crt*, *dev, *prt, or "work with active jobs" to find what they want.
- Database: Results of an SQL statement can be in PDF. Users can configure functions such as page size, orientation, margins, table header and footer, column heading, table style, and alignment, or upload or download .XML, so that data can be interchanged with other XML-enabled applications.
- File System: New actions include copy file, rename file and directory mail file, delete file and directory, and create directory.
- Mail: Users can e-mail the results of a database, CL or file command, or PDF view of print information to another user. This can be used as a one-step method of distributing information across a network, even to non-iSeries users.
- Personal folders: This container resides on the Web server and can be accessed only by the owner. This can be combined with the new mail function to notify users when new items are placed in a folders. This is an easy way to avoid sending large attachments and can be used to improve workflow.
- Print: Printer output can be viewed as PDF. For full-function viewing, the InfoPrint Server (5722-IP1) needs to be installed. PDF viewer is required on the PC. Also, GIF viewing is improved in this release, with better resolution (300 dpi) and more printer-friendly views.
Host Publisher V4: Compatible with WebSphere Application Server V4

Host Publisher Server requires that WebSphere Application Server V4 be
installed, and supports:
- WebSphere Application Server V4 plus latest PTFs Advanced Edition (AE) and Advanced Edition Single Server (AEs) for iSeries
As part of the WebSphere V4 environment, the following enhancements are included in Host Publisher:

J2EE application support: Applications produced by Host Publisher Studio
comply with J2EE, an industry-standard architecture intended to reduce
the cost and complexity of developing enterprise applications. J2EE
applications can be deployed rapidly and enhanced easily as the
enterprise responds to competitive pressures. A J2EE application takes
the form of an .ear (Enterprise Archive) file into which all the
application's pages, Java™ objects, and resources are assembled.
If you have Host Publisher applications on the server developed with an earlier level of the product, they must be migrated to V4. A migration tool is provided.

JavaServer Pages (JSP) 1.1 support: Host Publisher Studio now produces
JSP pages at the JSP 1.1 level. Applications with JSP 1.0 tags will
still run, but applications with JSP 0.91 tags (created prior to Host
Publisher V3.5) need to be migrated. Two migration tools, one on the
Studio machine and one on the server, are provided with the product.
- Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 1.1 support: Host Publisher now builds EJB-based applications supporting the EJB 1.1 specification level. EJB Access Beans developed with an earlier version of the product must be migrated to the 1.1 level; a migration tool is provided as part of Host Publisher Studio.
Web Services, an application integration technology based on open standards and implemented in middleware, provides a way for applications to connect and interact on the Web easier and more efficiently. Host Publisher Integration Objects and EJB Access Beans are enabled to become Web Services.
Multilanguage support : On the server, you can use Host Publisher Server Administration and view the Host Publisher documentation in languages other than the server's default language.
Software Maintenance Utility, a new command-line tool, can help you apply software fixes. If you involve the IBM Support Center, this tool scans the product and creates a package containing documentation and files for the IBM support team to use in troubleshooting.
iSeries Access for Wireless: This provides access to iSeries administrative functions and development tools intended for wireless devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Internet-enabled phones. Since no iSeries Access (5722-XW1) license is required to use iSeries Access for Windows, it is delivered with OS/400. Additional information about this product is available in the OS/400 announcement, refer to Software Announcement 202-123 , dated June 4, 2002.
Client Access Family (5722-XW1): Client Access Family (5722-XW1) customers who are running OS/400 V5R1 and have software subscription can acquire and use the V5R2 versions of the following products by ordering the 5722-XW1 refresh:

iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux (5733-LO1) (Web Download Only)
Linux programs written to the ODBC interface can access DB2® UDB for iSeries using the iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux. This ODBC driver is based on the ODBC driver in the iSeries Access for Windows product. Like that driver, the ODBC Driver for Linux uses the iSeries database host servers as the access point to the server, using a socket connection.
Key Points:
- iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux is an ODBC 3.5 ANSI driver with the ability to store and process Unicode data.
- Versions of the driver exist for both Linux running in an iSeries LPAR and Intel-based Linux workstations.
- The driver connects to OS/400 V4R5, and later.

CICS® Transaction Server for iSeries (5722-DFH)
Programs written for the CICS Clients and the CICS Transaction Gateway can access CICS transactions on iSeries over a TCP/IP network. This provides an identical function to what is available only over SNA networks.
CICS client/server programming allows existing host-based applications to
be enabled for client environments. The CICS Transaction Gateway
enables these same applications to be used in Web serving environments.
Both of these environments are available through either SNA or TCP/IP
networks.
DB2 UDB Extenders V7.2 (5722-DE1)
The DB2 UDB Extenders for iSeries V7.2, combining the XML Extender and the Text Extender, provides functions that utilize the Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (IASPs) provided by the operating system. Additional functions improve performance and usability.
XML Extender enhancements in OS/400 V5R2:
- The XML Extender allows databases on IASPs to be enabled for XML extender.
- The XML Extender provides two new composition stored procedures that return the XML document in a CLOB and does not require a result table.
- The XML Extender provides new extract user-defined functions that return table values. The extracting functions extract the element content or attribute value from an XML document and return the requested SQL data types. As some element or attribute values have multiple occurrences, the extracting functions return either a scaler or a table value. In V5R1, XML extender only supported returning scalar values.
Text Extender enhancements in OS/400 V5R2:
- The Text Extender can function with a database on the system or user ASP, or with one/several databases on IASPs.
- A new SEARCH_RESULT function returns the result of a search in an intermediate table. It can be used in a FROM clause of an SQL statement. This UDF is faster than CONTAINS or RANK when processing large tables.
Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries (5722-RD1)
Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries V5.2 provides additional functions for ease-of-use and flexibility:
- Automatic loading of non-spooled data in IFS, such as PC files, is supported through the STRMONOND command in Common Server. This frees the end user from manual intervention of loading PC files into OnDemand Common Server environment.
- Text search is enabled for AFPDS documents in Common Server environment.
- Enhanced OnDemand commands take advantage of new OS/400 spooled file attributes.
- Additions and enhancements to the sample programs have been made for both Common Server and Spool File Archive environments.
Accessibility by People with Disabilities
The following products are not fully accessible:
- 5722-DE1 DB2 Database Extendable — Text Extenders portions is accessible, but the administrative user interface is not. The problems include visual focus, accessible labels and object information, not using system font and color settings, etc. Accessibility is planned for a future release.
- 5733-IM3 Intelligent Miner™ — Problems include keyboard access, visual focus indicator not present and not using system font and color settings.
- 5733-XT1 XML Toolkit — Alt-text tags missing from some graphics in the documentation.
- 5648-B45 Font Collection — Media feature number (6239, Type Transformer) is not accessible.
- 5733-ID1 Infoprint® Designer — Bitmap editor and other graphical design tasks require a mouse.
- 5733-A57 Host Access Package — PComm 5.5 addresses most accessibility requirements. However, there are a limited number of seldomly used functions that are not fully enabled for screen readers, and a limited number of events that are only identified by a beep. Hod V6 and SC V2.060 included in Host Access Package are not compliant.

5722-XW1 iSeries Access —
- PC5250 (based on Personal Communications V5.5) is mostly accessible except for several panels used to customize PC5250: Popup keypad setup, color, keyboard, and window customization.
- The iSeries Navigator GUI is not accessible.

The flexibility of subcapacity pricing is announced for selected products
running on IBM iSeries and AS/400® hardware capable of logical
partitioning. This allows customers to pay for software based on the
number of processors in each logical partition where the program is
defined (runs) rather than the total number of processors in the machine.
LPAR was introduced at V4R4 and is the earliest release where these new
terms could apply. This announcement does not change program service
dates for V4R4. For details on Passport Advantage and compatible
OS/400® releases, refer to the individual product announcements.
Subcapacity licensing permits a customer to license a product for use on less than the full capacity (in processors) of the machine. A product must be isolated to a logical partition using IBM-provided tools to be eligible for subcapacity licensing. The products listed above can be optionally subcapacity licensed on iSeries and AS/400 hardware capable of logical partitioning.
In the future, subcapacity licensed customers will be required to send license manager software inventory logs to IBM. These logs will be audited for license compliance.
Customers may choose to license the eligible products either for full capacity (as in the past) or subcapacity of the machine, depending on their requirements.
Currently, the above software is priced by the full capacity of a machine under terms that permit customers to reallocate authorizations to use this software among the customer's machines. With respect to previously acquired authorizations for this software, IBM will permit the customer to take advantage of subcapacity pricing under the condition that the customer agrees to a restriction on reallocation of authorizations among the customer's machines. The customer must agree that when they choose to reallocate authorizations from one machine to another machine, all authorizations allocated to the first machine must be reallocated to the other machine. The authorizations on a machine may not be reallocated among multiple machines.
With subcapacity pricing, the number of processors that need to be licensed is the aggregation of all processors, including partial shares of a processor, across all partitions of a single machine (where the program is defined), rounded up to the next highest whole number.
The licensing and pricing of these products is based on the whole number of processors. On iSeries hardware, processor units are used by the system to size partitions. One processor unit is equal to the size of one dedicated processor. Processor units are not licensed or priced — they are only used to define the size of a partition. For example, if a 4-way iSeries machine has WebSphere Advanced Application Server running in two partitions sized at 0.6 processor units and 0.7 processor units, the total number of processing units is 1.3. Since the product is priced and licensed based on the whole number of processors, this customer would need two processor licenses of WebSphere Advanced Application Server.
The number of processor units is independent of the number of physical processors running the logical partitions. For example, if a customer has WebSphere Advanced Application Server in a partition sized at one processor, which is divided equally across four physical processors of the machine (in other words, the partition is using 0.25 processor units of four physical processors), then this customer has one processor unit and would need one processor license of WebSphere Advanced Application Server.
