IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for UCCnet Item Synchronization supports the following UCCnet message sets:

    • Item add
    • Item change
    • Item delete
    • Item withdrawal
    • Item delist

  • Additional e-business collaborations:

    • IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for Chem eStandards is a set of collaborations, business objects, and maps implementing the Chemical Information Data eXchange Chem eStandards.

IBM CrossWorlds extends support to our chemical industry customers and is dedicated to providing premium integration products to the chemical and process industries. IBM CrossWorlds provides time-to-market advantage with its pre-defined processes, connectors, and business objects, and is now extending its business solutions to include objects and processes to support the Chemical Industry Data Exchange (CIDX) standards.

Through its implementation of CIDX processes and data standards, IBM CrossWorlds provides chemical industry customers the potential for significant time and cost reductions of their initial implementation. It also supports using CIDX standards throughout the enterprise (and with trading partners), allowing customers to add or change their information technologies quickly to support changing business needs. The IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for Chem eStandards supports a unified and industry standard view of information inside and outside the enterprise.

The IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for Chem eStandards enables our customers rapid automation of business processes extending across the Internet to their trading partners, and into their own systems and organizations. Ultimately, customers may achieve dramatic cost reductions.

Using the industry-accepted CIDX standards and processes in conjunction with IBM CrossWorlds collaborations (such as Order Processing, Customer Management, and Supply Plan Deployment), customers can achieve rapid process implementation and create automated public processes, such as custom order configuration, invoice, or supply chain management.

Customers can quickly establish trading relationships, and streamline B2B and partner processes by leveraging CIDX industry standards in conjunction with IBM CrossWorlds TPI, our open trading partner management solution.

    • IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) is a set of collaborations, business objects, and maps for implementing PIPs to trading partners implementing integrated business processes between networked applications across the Internet.

  • Additional e-business connectors:

    • The IBM CrossWorlds Connector for Web Services incorporates Web services functionality into integrated automated processes. For example, using the IBM CrossWorlds Collaboration for Invoice Generation and the new IBM CrossWorlds Connector for Web Services, the collaboration can now be turned into a Web service by simply clicking a button to complete underlying document creation, schema generation, and proxy class definition.

The IBM CrossWorlds Connector for Web Services will enable a company to leverage their existing integration strategy and reuse their investment in current business processes. It also enables customers to find ways to work with Business Partners to reduce cost and increase revenue.

Many companies want to publish new Web services dynamically and to share their existing processes with other divisions and Business Partners. The IBM CrossWorlds Connector for Web Services allows both — instantly and automatically.

    • IBM CrossWorlds Access Framework for Enterprise JavaBeans gives developers easy access to process integration functionality within the J2EE application server environment. It also allows developers access to a company's automated business processes by invoking IBM CrossWorlds collaborations as EJB session beans. With the ability to call an IBM CrossWorlds collaboration, the developer can interact immediately with the multiple applications and data sources tied into the CrossWorlds integration hub.

IBM CrossWorlds Access Framework for Enterprise JavaBeans is a stateless session bean that encapsulates the collaboration's logic and execution operations. Developers using IBM CrossWorlds Access Framework for Enterprise JavaBeans no longer have to code instructions to handle initiation and communication from the application server into the IBM CrossWorlds Interchange Server.

Customers look to IBM CrossWorlds Access Framework for Enterprise JavaBeans as a simple way to establish a connection between their integrated business processes and new application functionality defined according to J2EE standards.

  • Additional Technology connector:

    • IBM CrossWorlds Connector for Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Protocol allows IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server to exchange business objects with applications that send or receive data in the form of FIX messages.

The connector allows IBM CrossWorlds collaborations to exchange asynchronously business objects with applications that issue or receive FIX message when changes to data occur.

Product Positioning

As part of the WebSphere® offering, the IBM CrossWorlds solution further extends the unparalleled breadth of IBM's portfolio of e-business infrastructure software. The combined IBM CrossWorlds solution helps companies maximize the business results from their e-business initiatives as well as their investments in applications and systems.

The IBM CrossWorlds solution offers functionality required by both the Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Business-to-Business Integration (B2Bi) markets so companies can easily automate business processes both inside and outside the company's firewall. Within one coherent framework, companies can address seemingly disparate integration efforts such as connecting customer data, automating business processes, and linking to business partners over the Internet.

Other integration products on the market typically have a makeshift architecture of separately-developed tools and modules that must be connected at each customer site. They are costly and difficult to implement, maintain, and extend as a company's needs change. Ultimately, they provide no real long-term advantage over a collection of custom-coded interfaces.

The IBM CrossWorlds portfolio of products has several strong differentiators:

  • An industry-leading business integration server
  • A rich set of pre-built collaborations or predefined business process logic for easily extending and uniting processes
  • An easy-to-use graphical development environment and toolset which enables rapid end-to-end development, deployment, and maintenance of business objects and process
  • An extensive list of connectors, providing out-of-the-box access to many popular packaged applications for faster integration

Using these products, companies can experience significant business benefits such as a single unified view of enterprise-wide data, regardless of the application or database where the information resides. They leverage flexible business processes that are easily changed to accommodate business needs. With IBM CrossWorlds, processes are defined separately and exist independently of enterprise applications. Finally, a company can also easily include external trading partners in its business processes and leverage Internet-based trading networks and exchanges.

Ordering Information

For details on the licensing information, refer to:

The charge structure is summarized below.

IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Entry requires licensing according to the runtime use on a server. You must acquire a license to install and use one copy of the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Entry on a single server with a maximum of two processors. You must acquire an additional license for each additional server or processor on which you install a copy of the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Entry. Each IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Entry license entitles an organization with two connections. To acquire additional connections, you must acquire entitlement to an additional IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Entry license.

IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server

The IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server offers a scalable pricing structure that requires licensing according to the runtime use on server machines. All processors running IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server in your organization require an IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server license.

The license charge depends on the Required Number of Value Units (VUs) per server to cover the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server installed in each licensed user's organization.

A certain number of VUs has been assigned to five "tiers" that represent the eligible processors. The greater the number of processors, or machines, the more VUs are required. Each licensed user is required to acquire VU authorizations to use IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server on each machine and machine upgrade. If a licensed user changes the processor or machine which runs IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server, the licensed user agrees to notify IBM or its reseller.

The following table reflects the number of VUs applicable to all workstation platforms for IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server.

                                                  Value Unit
                                                  Authorizations
Tier Description per Server

1 1 processor 2
2 2 processors 4
3 3 to 8 processors 8
4 9 to 23 processors 16
5 24 or more processors 30

IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server requires two VU authorizations for Tier 1. Additional VU authorizations must be acquired for a licensed user to be authorized to use IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server on processors or machines that are included in Tiers 2, 3, 4, or 5.

The total number of Required VUs may not exceed the number authorized by the applicable PoEs.

Program Services: Available until May 31, 2003.

Installation and technical support for the products announced in this letter is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.

IBM includes Software Maintenance with each program acquired during the coverage period. "Coverage Period" means the period beginning on the date you acquire the program up to the first or second Anniversary Date, depending on whether you acquired coverage for one or two anniversaries. The Coverage Period for Software Maintenance acquired in the two months preceding an Anniversary Date will be extended to the next applicable Anniversary Date.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for these two:

  • Routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions
  • For code-related questions, IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Consult your IBM Software Support Guide for further details:

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for any of these three:

  • The design and development of applications
  • Your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment
  • Failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this Agreement
