Key PrerequisitesAny hardware and software configuration that supports the required version of DB2 or IMS. Details are listed in the Hardware Requirements and Software Requirements sections. DescriptionIBM Tools for Database AdministrationDB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, V4 gives you a comprehensive set of functions that help DB2 systems personnel efficiently and effectively manage their DB2 environments. It is an interactive, intuitive, and easy-to-use tool that gives you a cost-effective solution for a full range of database administration functions for DB2 for z/OS. DB2 Administration Tool also provides centralized access to any tool with an ISPF interface through the DB2 tools Launchpad. Enhancements are:
DB2 High Performance Unload for z/OS, V2 offers sequential reading and the capability to access your DB2 data at top speed. It can unload data from image copies as well as active tables and create multiple output files during a single unload with minimal cost. DB2 High Performance Unload can store the output in multiple formats including those that are user tailored. New capabilities:
Refer to the DB2 High Performance Unload for z/OS section for more information on the new capabilities of this product. DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS, V2 helps you keep your test and development system as a mirror image of the production system. New applications, application modifications, or mistakes can cause DB2 objects in one of these systems to have different attributes than on other systems. The DB2 Object Comparison Tool allows you to compare objects (and dependent objects) from one source to another. Once a difference file is generated, the product can be used to generate the DB2 commands needed to bring the catalogs back into synchronization. Enhancements include:
For DB2 Utilities Suite for z/OS, V7.1 (5697-E98), DB2 Diagnostic and Recovery Utilities (5655-E62), and DB2 Operational Utilities (5655-E63) PTFs, refer to the following APAR Numbers:
These PTFs enhance V7 of the DB2 Utilities by removing a restriction in the COPY/RECOVERY parallelism support when backup copies are on tape. This support improves backup and recovery elapsed time performance by parallel processing of backup copies going to or from different tape devices and usability by automatic stacking of backup copies on tape for the COPY and RECOVER utilities in these products. IMS High Availability Large Database (HALDB) Conversion Aid for z/OS, V1 can help you take advantage of the capacity and availability features of IMS at a stepped up pace by giving you utilities and aids to analyze, model, and convert existing IMS database structures to a HALDB format. IMS HALDB Conversion Aid gives you:
Refer to the IMS HALDB Conversion Aid for z/OS section for more information on the capabilities of the product. IMS High Performance Prefix Resolution, V2 performs the same functions as the IMS Prefix Resolution utility (DFSURG10) but with considerably reduced elapsed times. Prefix resolution is a required step for resolving pointers for databases containing logical relationships and for creating or recreating secondary indices. Unlike V1, this version of the product does not require the BatchPipes®/MVS subsystem. A data transfer service called HPPRPIPE is used to eliminate the intermediate Work File 2 (WF2) data set, which avoids much of the I/O, tape handling, and DASD requirements often associated with prefix resolution.
IMS Index Builder, V2.2
can help you simplify index recovery and maintenance, reduce index
maintenance time, and eliminate the need to image copy index databases.
IMS Index Builder gives you an easy-to-use, one-step procedure for the
maintenance of primary and secondary indices. This release of the
product provides a complete service rollup. No new function is included
with this release.

DB2 Performance Expert for z/OS, V1DB2 Performance Expert is the tool for ultimate performance. It helps you get optimum performance from your database management system and provides support for resolving critical performance issues. It may be optionally integrated with the DB2 Tools Launchpad on ISPF and DB2 Control Center for the workstation GUI. Monitoring functions keep you informed about the health of your system and what is currently running in it. The Reporting Facility presents performance information about details of DB2 events. The system-wide performance data provides information about CPU times, buffer pool usage, locking, I/O activity, and more. The Performance Warehouse function supports you in managing and handling your DB2 Performance Expert performance database. You can:
Buffer Pool Analysis helps database administrators (DBAs) manage buffer pools more efficiently by providing information about current buffer pool behavior and using simulation to anticipate future behavior. It helps you tune DB2 buffer pools and get the most out of your system resources. It lets you optimize memory usage by specifically recommending which buffer pool to change and by how much. Explain functions complete the monitoring, reporting, and analysis functions with the capability to explain the determined access path of SQL statements. You can explain a single SQL statement, which is currently executed or saved in the dynamic statement cache, and you can also explain an SQL statement out of your editor during coding of your application program. The Batch Explain report allows you to explain all or selected SQL statements of your plan or package. The workstation GUI invokes the Visual Explain function shipped with DB2. The key benefits of DB2 Performance Expert are:
DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS, V1.2V1.2 of this program helps you maximize DB2 availability by clearly identifying resource-intensive queries and providing drill-down analysis of the resources used in their execution. Administrators can more easily develop problem prevention measures for all types of queries issued from any type of connection (including static SQL, dynamic SQL, JDBC, ODBC, DB2 Connect®) in multiple types of operational environments, including transactional, data warehouse, and Web-based. DB2 Query Monitor gives you extensive control over what data is gathered during activity monitoring, when it is gathered, about whom and what database resources, and then what alerts should be executed. Monitoring agents, which can be started and stopped dynamically, use menu-driven criteria to watch up to 64 DB2 subsystems. As defined by administrators, data gathered is offloaded at intervals from memory to storage. DB2 Query Monitor provides powerful views into the query processing events occurring in your enterprise z/OS environment. New and enhanced capabilities are:
DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS, V2V2 of this program delivers performance analysis for all phases of database application design and development. Developing applications under DB2 requires the cooperative skills of the system architect, the database administrator, the programming staff, and members of the systems support team. In the daily quest to produce applications on time and within budget, too often corners are cut such that performance is not adequately considered. Once put into production, these applications fail to perform adequately, particularly at high-transaction volumes. In addition, even applications that originally performed well may deteriorate over time due to changes in data distribution and data volume, system changes, and even changes to the DB2 product itself. Therefore, installations spend a great deal of their budget managing the performance of their applications. All DB2 problem queries have one thing in common. They run too long. These queries cause the batch production window to shrink. Too often the online queries take what seems like forever to execute, causing customers and users to become frustrated. The most cost-effective solution to the problem is prevention. DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer is an aid to prevent queries from running too long. With this tool you can find out how long queries will take:

Security, Auditability, and ControlThe announced programs use the security and auditability features of the host operating system software. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Ordering InformationThe products in this announcement have one charge unit: Value Unit. Value Unit based pricing will help to align the prices of these Products to the principle of the PSLC pricing curve, which provides for a lower price per MSU (millions of service units per hour) for larger capacities. There is also be a price benefit when customers grow their capacity. Additional capacity will be based on the number of Value Units (MSUs) the customer has already installed, for example, additional capacity will not be priced starting at the base with a higher price per unit but on the capacity that is already installed. Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged/interchanged/aggregated with Value Units of another product. Translation from MSUs to Value Units
MSUs Value Units/MSU
Base 1-3 1.00
Tier A 4-45 .45
Tier B 46-175 .36
Tier C 176-315 .27
Tier D 316+ .20
The total number of Value Units is calculated according to the following example: If the customer has installed 1,000 MSUs, the applicable Value Units would be: 3 x 1.00 + 42 x 0.45 + 130 x 0.36 + 140 x 0.27 + 685 x 0.20 = 244 Value Units When calculating the total number of Value Units, the sum is to be rounded up to the next integer.
Value Units for IBM 9672 Processors will be based upon the full capacity
of these systems. This is applicable to all S/390®-based systems that
are measured on MSU capacity. Information on MSU capacities can be found
in the IBM System/370, System/390®, and IBM Value Units for zSeries will be based upon full MSU capacity as defined in the Machine Exhibits, unless a customer qualifies for sub-capacity pricing on the z/900 server. Value Units for non-MSU-based S/390 Processors MP3000 Models
H30 = 6.00 Value Units
H50 = 8.00 Value Units
H70 = 12.00 Value Units
P/390, R/390, IBM 3006 = 2.00 Value Units
A tool is available that supports transforming the MSU-based capacities of S/390 Systems to new Value Units by calculating the applicable number of Value Units for a given number of MSUs. The person preparing an order is required to use this tool to calculate the number of Value Units, based upon the number of MSUs (processor capacity). CFSW expects Value Units as configuration input.
