Planned Availability Date

End of Support

Based on the Tivoli end of support policy, Tivoli support for Tivoli NPM V2R6 will be discontinued 12 months after the planned availability of V2.7.

Description

The following enhancements are available in V2.7.

Dynamic NetView Performance Monitor (NPM) Configuration Discovery via RODM

This enhancement enables NPM to gather information about network configuration for SNA, IP, and Application resources by dynamically reading the information from the RODM repository and adding the information into the NPM environment. NPM also manages the dynamic changes in the network configuration during the run. Configuration information is gathered from the RODM repository and defined to NPM for:

  • CCUs
  • Routers
  • Applications

New SESSAPPL Command

With this enhancement, in addition to defining applications at initialization time, applications can also be defined using a new SESSAPPL command via an NPM EXEC or the system console, or both. This new SESSAPPL command contains all the parameters that need to be specified in the APPL statement of the FNMINIT member and a new OPTION field. The new OPTION field allows for specifying the options of Add, Delete, or Replace of an application definition.

New Counters for 3746 NNP Support

This enhancement enables NPM V2.7 to support new counters coming from 3746 Network Node Processor, (NNP). With this function, the component Network Performance Analyzer, (NPA) in the NNP will send the Processor utilization for the NPM session managing the Advanced Peer-to-Peer Network (APPN®) resources.

NPM Collection for MPC Devices

This enhancement enables NPM to gather additional statistics for the MPC types. NPM V2.7 supports MPC devices and can collect VTAM® statistics for the MPC group and for the MPC devices.

Integration between TBSM and NPM GUI

With NPM V2.7 from the Tivoli Business Systems Manager Console, you can click on a resource (also managed by NPM) to start the TBSM-NPM Console. On this console the user can:

  • Logon to one or more NPMs.
  • Send a "QuickView" request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command shows real-time performance data.
  • Send a "DataView" request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command shows historical performance data.
  • Save as a profile QuickView or DataView settings.
  • Start a collection for the resource selected to a specified NPM.
  • View the collections list showing all the collections defined for the selected resource. For each collection, the user can stop or alter collection parameters.

Add Start, Stop, Alter Collection Support on NPM Console and NMC-NPM Console

The following new functions are available with NPM 2.7 from the NPM Console:

  • Start Collection request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command sends a collection request on NPM for the resource specified in the resource text field.
  • List Collection request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command sends a request to list all collections (active and deferred) defined for the resource specified. For each collection, the user can stop the collection or alter collection parameters.

The following new functions are available from the NMC-NPM Console, with NPM V2.7, by right clicking on a resource also managed by NPM:

  • Start Collection request for the resource selected to a specified NPM.
  • List Collection request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command sends a request to list all collections (active and deferred) defined for the resource specified. For each collection, the user can stop the collection or alter collection parameters.
  • Send a "DataView" request for the resource selected to a specified NPM. This command shows historical performance data.

Added Profiling and DataView Support on NMC-NPM Console

With NPM V2.7 from the NPM Console you can save QuickView or DataView settings in profiles. The profiles will be saved for user and type of resource.

Accessibility by People with Disabilities

The following features support use by people with disabilities:

  • Operation by keyboard alone
  • Optional font enlargement and high-contrast display settings
  • Screen readers and screen magnifiers tested for use by people with visual impairment
  • Speech recognition products tested for use by people with mobility impairment
  • Optional display of audio alerts for people with hearing impairment
