Overview

Tivoli® Identity Director helps to reduce costs by improving the efficiency of managing user identities and resource allocation in heterogeneous systems. In addition, this software provides you with a single repository for user information.

From a single interface, administrators will be able to perform management of user definitions and access for different systems and applications. IT organizations will be able to delegate management of user subgroups to different administrators, and even to the end users themselves. Tivoli Identity Director can integrate with business processes for:

  • Human Resource generated user registration
  • Automatic registration
  • User life-cycle administration
  • Application access
  • Password management
  • Directory information management
  • User records self-care

These processes can be automated into the single management interface to allow fast and efficient provisioning of information resources. The user data will be consolidated into a directory entry for easy access and reporting. All changes will be audited for subsequent security analysis.

Description

With Tivoli Identity Manager, administrators can perform single-action management of user definitions, and access control for different systems and applications, from a single interface. The user and access definitions, set centrally, are then propagated to all endpoints (operating systems and applications) automatically. IT organizations can delegate management of user subgroups to different administrators, and even to the end users themselves. These capabilities, together with the easy-to-use Web interface, present a tool that is very flexible and efficient. Tivoli Identity Director integrates the process of management of identities into various business processes, including:

  • User changes
  • Automatic registration
  • Subscription to services
  • Application access
  • Password management
  • Directory information management

These processes are automated into the single management interface, to allow fast and efficient provisioning of digital resources.

User data is consolidated into a directory entry for easy access and reporting. All changes are audited for subsequent security analysis. A toolkit provides interfaces to expand the solution to support customized workflows, different applications, and integration into different processes.

Tivoli Identity Director can enhance both the technology and business initiatives in the enterprise. This enables CIO's to efficiently provide resources for employees by tying into the Human Resources processes with the IT resource assignment processes. The result can be faster time to productivity for employees. With delegation and simpler self-service interfaces, Tivoli Identity Director will enable IT management to control and reduce help desk costs. Additionally, the consolidated repository of user information, control of systems, and reporting on user status and behavior, helps ensure that you can implement the right security policies to protect system access and business information. IT administrators can distribute responsibility, which can reduce maintenance costs, especially the cost of dealing with password change and reset calls. The IT organization will be able to handle larger user populations with fewer, or less skilled, administrators, by using:

Software Requirements

The Tivoli Identity Director V1.1 package provides all components necessary to run this program. There are no software prerequisites other than the operating system.

Tivoli Identity Director is distributed with:

Security, Auditability, and Control

Tivoli Identity Director, through access controls, protects its internal components, and it audits identity administration operations. Tivoli Identity Director also uses the security and auditability features of the operating system software.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Ordering Information

New Licensees: Orders for new licenses will be accepted now.

Shipment will begin on the planned availability date.

Basic License: To order a basic license, specify the program number, feature number 9001 for asset registration, and the feature number of the desired distribution medium. Also, specify the one-time charge (OTC) feature number from the tables below in the quantity desired (maximum quantity of 250).

The quantity of Tivoli Management Points is based on the quantity and tier level of the servers being monitored or managed.

Tivoli Systems Support

Although the first year of support is included in the product price, a no-charge (NC) order must be placed using program number 5698-SPT specifying feature number 9001 for asset registration and the appropriate First Year Standard Support — NC feature number. This 5698-SPT order establishes entitlement records worldwide. If a 5698-SPT order is not placed, the customer will not be entitled to support even during the first year of a license.

Prior to the end of the first 12 months support period, customers will be notified of their support renewal options. Unless the customer notifies IBM/Tivoli to discontinue or alter the level of support currently being received, support will automatically be renewed for annual billing at the same level as selected in the first year. Once the subsequent year support feature numbers are in place, renewals are automatic and billed annually unless support is cancelled by the customer.

    This offering provides:

Support Upgrade

During the first year of a license, the customer may upgrade to the Tivoli Standard-24 or Tivoli Select Support option by ordering the applicable OTC feature number from the table below. The OTC feature numbers may be specified on the initial order or later via an MES during the first year only. Ordering this OTC feature will not result in an extension of the NC support period.

In subsequent years, if a customer wants to upgrade to the Tivoli Standard-24 or Tivoli Select Support option, an MES order must be entered to discontinue the existing support option feature number and to add the feature number for the desired options After an MES order is entered, the support will be renewed and billed annually at that support level unless support is cancelled by the customer.

PA Software Maintenance

Software Maintenance (called Support for Tivoli products outside of PA) is included with each product authorization acquired under PA.

Software Maintenance provides an easy and effective way by which you have access, during the coverage period, to eligible new versions and releases and to technical support for your covered products.

The technical support included in Software Maintenance provides remote support during normal business hours in your country or location as well as access to escalation management 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for problems that you deem "mission critical."

With Software Maintenance, you receive the following technical support benefits:

  • Telephone access via the country single point of contact (SPOC) to IBM worldwide customer support
  • Electronic question submission (not available in all countries)
  • Support for routine, short duration installation and usage ("how-to") questions and code-related problems for covered products
  • Support during normal country business hours, namely prime shift hours excluding national or statutory holidays
  • Support for a problem you deem mission critical offshift, namely all hours outside normal country business hours including national and/or statutory holidays
  • A response within two hours during prime shift for voice and electronic submission. The response objective for critical/emergency calls during offshift is two hours.
  • Access to hints, tips, and frequently asked questions
  • Ability to transfer calls/issues within IBM, Lotus®, and Tivoli

PA allows you to have a common anniversary date for Software Maintenance renewals, making it easier for you to manage and budget for access to eligible new versions and releases, and for related technical support, for your covered products. The anniversary date, established at the start of your PA Agreement, recurs on an annual basis while your PA Agreement remains in effect. However, regardless of when Software Maintenance is acquired, the coverage period for Software Maintenance is always up to the anniversary date specified in the acquisition.

Software Maintenance renewals offer you favorable pricing to continue your coverage without interruption.

Refer to the IBM International PA Agreement and to the IBM Software Maintenance Handbook for specific terms relating to, and a more complete description of, technical support provided through Software Maintenance.
