Building on a strengthened focus on data management tools, new IBM tools and functions further complement IBM's premier DB2 Universal Database^® (UDB) on its server platforms.

Two new products complement the offerings on the z/OS™ platform:

Description

DB2 Table Editor for Multiplatforms Version 4.2

Powerful table editing from within multiple end-user environments includes Java™-enabled Web browsers and workstations and Windows^® workstations.

Working either with multirow, row-at-a-time, or GUI forms with command buttons, data update and creation capabilities are easily rolled out to end users with tight control over permissions and usage.

DB2 Table Editor for Multiplatforms Version 4.2 extends the capabilities of this powerful tool even further with:

Linked forms
DB2 Table Editor forms developers building Windows- or Java-based forms may now define linkages between forms. Sets of forms can be built and linked with parent/child relationships, whether or not the data in the forms is related in the underlying DB2 table structure.
SQL command buttons
The DB2 Table Editor form builder can now place a command button on any Windows- or Java-based form to launch any SQL, including stored procedures.
Large Object support
The Windows- and Java-based DB2 Table Editor interfaces now provide LOB support and support LOBs through forms rendered in those environments.

DB2 Web Query Tool for Multiplatforms Version 1.2

DB2 Web Query Tool lets end users access, create, share, and execute SQL queries through their browsers against multiple IBM DB2 databases on multiple platforms. They can save query results in multiple formats including XML, and integrate query results with popular PC applications such as spreadsheets.

DB2 Web Query Tool extends the capabilities of this powerful tool even further with:

WAP and e-mail interfaces
New data operations
XSL support
Support for more database platforms
Support for Web application server platforms

Now DB2 Web Query Tool expands user interfaces, database platform access, and available data operations in a single release.

WAP and e-mail
Additional interfaces for DB2 Web Query Tool for WAP and e-mail users extend access to DB2 Web Query Tool functionality to virtually any location. With a WAP phone or any e-mail client, users may now send commands to and receive responses from DB2 Web Query Tool, including running critical summary reports or receiving alerts triggered by the crossing of preset thresholds in data or report values.
Data operations
DB2 Web Query Tool now supports the copying of data to another location, converting of data, and comparing of one set of data with another to highlight differences in the data.
XSL
DB2 Web Query Tool now supports the formatting of data and reports with XSL. Style sheets may be used with the tool's existing support for XML. You benefit from the richer universal reporting and data migration functions.
Database and application server platforms
DB2 Web Query Tool now supports:
- DB2 distributed databases, including DB2 for AIX^®, DB2 for Windows 2000, and DB2 Linux
- WebSphere™ for AIX, Windows 2000, Linux, and WebSphere Versions 3.x and 4

Accessibility by People with Disabilities

The following features support use by people with disabilities:

Operation by keyboard alone
Optional font enlargement and high-contrast display settings
Screen readers and screen magnifiers tested for use by people with visual impairment
Optional display of audio alerts for people with hearing impairment

DB2 Web Query Tool for Multiplatforms Version 1.2

Capable on delivery, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. Section 794d, as implemented by 36 C.F.R. Part 1194, provided that any Assistive Technology used with the Product properly interoperates with it.

Technical Information

Hardware Requirements

These programs operate on any hardware configuration that supports the required version of a DB2 Server.

Specifically this includes platforms that support:

Windows 2000

The release of DB2 UDB supported is dependent on its having a JDBC type 2 driver supported. DB2 UDB Version 2 and later support all these environments.

Software Requirements

These programs operate on any software configuration that supports the required version of DB2.

Security, Auditability, and Control

The security and auditability features of User Identification and Password Management for these products are developed in concert with DB2 security.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
