IBM Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries V5R1 maximizes control over your enterprise reports and enhances customer service and loyalty by providing quick access to business documents. What's new in Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries V5R1:
Overview
IBM Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries V5R1 provides a powerful Enterprise Report Management solution to electronically capture and archive large volumes of computer-generated information including customer statements, invoices, and management reports. Content Manager OnDemand supports electronic statement presentment solutions through robust, advanced client applications for both desktop and standard Web browsers, with advanced search and report mining capabilities. With Content Manager OnDemand, enterprises can automatically organize printed output, and provide rapid, direct access to specific information, making more effective use of the massive amounts of information captured over time. Together, Content Manager OnDemand and the iSeries server make a robust combination for improving service and productivity, and extending access to your customer information to include the Web. To meet varying content management needs, Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries is modular and flexible to address your exact enterprise report management requirements. In V5R1, Content Manager OnDemand continues to support the existing Content Manager OnDemand server and its inherent strengths, and in addition now provides an enhanced Content Manager OnDemand server with exciting, new capabilities. What's new in Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries Server:
Key Prerequisites
Planned Availability Dates
DescriptionWith V5R1, Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries offers new customers an exciting new OnDemand Common Server option, based on IBM's industry-leading Content Manager OnDemand for NT and UNIX platforms. The OnDemand Common Server provides:
Note: The Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries Common Server is recommended for new OnDemand customers. Existing Content Manager OnDemand customers should install the Spool File Archive option when upgrading to V5R1, but may choose to install the Common Server software as well, for any new archiving applications. In addition to the new Common Server, new features and options offered for Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries include the following: New, optional PDF Indexer feature for the Content Manager OnDemand Common Server allows you to extract index data from PDF files, as you store them in Content Manager OnDemand. With generally available PDF viewing options, such as those available from Adobe, users can then retrieve and view these PDF files from the Content Manager OnDemand Common Server repository. This separately available feature requires the new OnDemand Common Server. New, optional OnDemand Web Enablement Kit for Content Manager OnDemand Common Server provides searching, retrieval, and viewing of documents and reports stored in the Content Manager OnDemand Common Server via a standard Web browser. The OnDemand Web Enablement Kit provides CGI Scripts and Java Servlets to easily enable Web access to your business documents, supporting electronic statement or invoice viewing by your customers, and enhancing your overall Web presence. This separately available feature requires the new OnDemand Common Server. The following existing options of the product are available in V5R1 (included with the Content Manager OnDemand Server): Spool File Archive , which continues to provide capture and archive management functions for large volumes of spooled print data and selective on demand retrieval and presentation capability in a 5250 non-programmable workstation environment. Client/Server , which continues to provide existing customers with client/server capability for data archived by Spool File Archive or AnyStore. Record Archive , which continues to allow existing applications to be enhanced to store and retrieve selected data records from optical storage for users who only require occasional access to historical data. This option is provided for existing Record Archive customers to use, but there are no planned enhancements. Object Archive , which continues to allow efficient storage of versions or "generations" of OS/400 objects on tape or optical storage. AnyStore , which continues to provide the ability to archive a variety of non-print data types when used with the prerequisite Spool File Archive. For further information regarding these existing OnDemand options, refer to Software Announcement 299-028 , dated February 9, 1999. IBM Content Manager OnDemand Integration Capabilities Also generally available separately, effective March 30, 2001, is the new Content Manager eClient. The new Content Manager eClient provides a browser-based user interface for access to documents stored in all platforms of Content Manager and Content Manager OnDemand, as well as Content Manager ImagePlus® for OS/390® and Lotus Domino.Doc repositories. Users can search across one or multiple content repositories with no client software requirements at the desktop other than a standard browser with simple parametric or advanced boolean search options. The Content Manager eClient allows users to view multiple documents and their associated annotations simultaneously, with options to print, fax, or e-mail documents. Through the use of integrated, server-based transforms, the Content Manager eClient enables viewing of a broad range of documents formats without plugins. These formats include TIFF images, printed reports in AFP and line data formats, and many additional office document formats. Other content can be viewed through a standard launch of a viewer application. The IBM Content Manager eClient is packaged with both the IBM Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) and the EIP Client Kit for Content Manager, where search technologies, content repository connectors, Java Server Pages (JSP) and server-based transforms are provided. Depending on individual customer needs, either the Client Kit or EIP may be acquired to provide Web access to IBM Content Manager and other repositories. Refer to:

Euro CurrencyThis program is EuroReady. For more information on the implications of the euro, visit the IBM euro Web site at: EuroReady Products IBM considers an IBM product to be EuroReady if the product, when used in accordance with its associated documentation, is capable of correctly processing monetary data in the euro denomination and of respecting the euro currency formatting conventions (including the euro sign). This assumes that all other products (for example, hardware, software, and firmware) that are used with this product are also EuroReady. IBM hardware products that are EuroReady may or may not have an engraved euro sign key on their keyboards. Currently, EuroReady status applies primarily to IBM products specific to the EMU countries. Products that are not specific to these countries are deemed to be "not ready" for euro unless otherwise stated in the product's country-specific specifications. IBM Hardware Ready IBM supplies certain IBM products which include third-party software (pre-loaded or not) and/or third-party attached hardware. In these instances, IBM is not in a position to assert that these third-party products are, in themselves, EuroReady. Therefore, such IBM products will be designated as hardware ready. EuroReady Solutions IBM considers a solution to be EuroReady when the solution providers have:
and can clearly demonstrate this by:
The euro capabilities of a EuroReady solution will be clearly identified as features of the solution specification, as described in the contracts document.

Security, Auditability, and ControlIBM Content Manager OnDemand for iSeries V5R1 uses the security and auditability features of the host hardware or software. OnDemand also provides additional security and auditability features as described in the program publications. Usage of these facilities is optional. The security measures are designed to reduce the risk of users changing or destroying resources, but do not prevent it. OS/400 security and auditability features include the use of password security to limit read/write access to data during normal operations. To achieve increased security, the OS/400 controls should be combined with physical security and a division of duties. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
