Overview

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V7.1 is a leading content management product which provides Enterprise Report Management and electronic statement presentment solutions, with high volume capture of computer output, advanced client solutions for desktop and standard Web browsers, and also enables automated storage management with advanced search and report-mining capabilities. The Content Manager OnDemand application will let an enterprise automatically organize and store any printed output, such as reports, statements, or invoices, as well as e-mails and image documents. It is a computer output content management solution for leading ERP and CRM applications such as PeopleSoft and Siebel, and provides a platform for implementing leading electronic bill presentment and payment solutions.

What's New in V7.1

  • Support for a broader set of print datastreams is now provided through tighter integration with Xenos transforms.

    These transforms are tightly integrated which makes it easy for the Content Manager OnDemand administrator to define and capture these new output formats through the OnDemand utilities and other currently supported formats (AFP™, Line data, PDF, and so forth). Capture of Metacode and PCL datastreams now allows customers with Xerox printers or business applications which generate PCL output to reap the many benefits of the Content Manager OnDemand Enterprise Report Management system.

    With these additional transforms, customers with SAP, PeopleSoft, HP, and other business applications that generate heavy volumes of PCL, are able to efficiently capture and access printed information electronically.

  • Multiple client enhancements are delivered for both the OnDemand Windows™ Client and the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK).
  • V7.1 now supports Oracle 8i, in addition to DB2® and SQL Server 2000, providing flexibility for you to implement the Enterprise Report Management solution on the database which best fits your environment.
  • In addition to support for current database, operating system, and PDF capabilities, V7.1 now supports DB2 UDB V7.1, AIX® V4.3, Windows 2000, Sun Solaris V8, HP-UX 11, and Adobe V4.
  • Improved PDF Indexing.
  • V7.1 delivers additional language translations for the user and administrative GUI Windows clients.

Description

What's New in Content Manager OnDemand V7.1

  • Support for a broader set of print datastreams is now provided through tighter integration with Xenos transforms. These transforms include the following:
    • Metacode-to-AFP
    • Metacode-to-PDF
    • Metacode-to-Metacode (for index/capture processing, while keeping native Metacode format)
    • PCL-to-PDF
    • AFP-to-PDF

These Xenos transforms are tightly integrated such that the Content Manager OnDemand administrator can easily define and capture these new output formats through the OnDemand utilities along with other currently supported formats (AFP, Line data, PDF, and so forth). In addition, this tight integration enables the Content Manager OnDemand administrator to define both the source and archive data format for each report during report definition and setup. Subsequently, while loading reports into the Content Manager OnDemand system, the OnDemand load process (ARSLOAD) will directly invoke the appropriate, licensed Xenos transform for indexing, segmentation, and loading of these reports into OnDemand.

The Xenos transforms further enhances Content Manager OnDemand's ability to access archived data via the Internet or the Windows client. The solution retrieves the data stored in its native format and converts it dynamically into e-content formats, such as PDF, XML, and HTML for distribution. This functionality makes Content Manager OnDemand beneficial for both your internal and external audiences.

The integration of the Xenos transforms also enables archived data to be transformed to alternative print streams to allow for reprinting.

Support for a broader set of print datastreams are now provided, through tighter integration with Xenos transforms, a separately orderable product, available with Xenos.

  • Multiple client enhancements are delivered for the OnDemand Windows Client.

      • PDF thumbnails, including the Monarch integration with the client installation
      • Print and Go To commands as shortcuts

  • V7.1 now supports Oracle 8i, in addition to DB2 and SQL Server 2000, providing flexibility for customers to implement industry-leading COLD solution on the database which best fits their environment.
  • Updates to all prerequisites allow Content Manager OnDemand to support current database, operating system, and PDF capabilities, now supporting DB2 UDB V7.1, AIX V4.3, and Adobe V4.
  • Improved PDF Indexing. The Content Manager OnDemand administrator GUI has been extended to include support for indexing of PDF data streams, eliminating manual editing. The GUI allows end users to define folder, applications, and application group definitions using the Wizard interface seamlessly with line data and PDF data streams.
  • V7.1 delivers additional language translations for the User and Administrative GUI Windows clients to meet expanding globalization needs. Content Manager OnDemand is unicode-enabled, supporting single byte languages as well as bi-directional languages and the double-byte languages.

These enhancements establish Content Manager OnDemand as the clear industry-leading COLD/Enterprise Report Management solution in the market. Businesses across key industries such as Telecommunications, Utilities, Finance, Insurance, and many service-oriented operations cross-industry will be able to exploit these new capabilities. Content Manager OnDemand continues to support e-business enablement, providing the archives and Web access to e-statement or electronic bill presentment and payment solutions, enabling Premier Web self-service with Premier Service, high availability.

EuroReady Products

IBM considers an IBM product to be EuroReady if the product, when used in accordance with its associated documentation, is capable of correctly processing monetary data in the euro denomination and of respecting the euro currency formatting conventions (including the euro sign). This assumes that all other products (for example, hardware, software, and firmware) that are used with this product are also EuroReady. IBM hardware products that are EuroReady may or may not have an engraved euro sign key on their keyboards.

Currently, EuroReady status applies primarily to IBM products specific to the EMU countries. Products that are not specific to these countries are deemed to be "not ready" for euro unless otherwise stated in the product's country-specific specifications.

IBM Hardware Ready

IBM supplies certain IBM products which include third party software (pre-loaded or not) and/or third party attached hardware. In these instances IBM is not in a position to assert that these third party products are, in themselves, EuroReady.

Therefore, such IBM products will be designated as hardware ready.

EuroReady Solutions

IBM considers a solution to be EuroReady when the solution providers have:

  • Analyzed the euro requirements, including the need to comply with relevant EC rules
  • Built in appropriate function

and can clearly demonstrate this by:

  • Detailing euro related requirements
  • Describing how these will be implemented in the solution
  • Declaring when the implementation will be generally available

The euro capabilities of a EuroReady solution will be clearly identified as features of the Solution specification as described in the contracts document.

Hardware Requirements

OnDemand Web Enablement Kit Hardware Requirements

  • For the Web server: 25 MB of disk space for installation, and 10 MB of cache storage on the Web server
  • For client systems: 3 MB of disk space if running the AFP™ plug-in, and 1 MB of disk space when using the Image plug-in

OnDemand AIX® Server Requirements

A minimum OnDemand Server configuration is:

  • RS/6000® Model F50 or later system, with a minimum of 128 MB of memory
  • Token Ring or Ethernet connection
  • Minimum of 9 GB of DASD spread over at least two disks plus sufficient storage for documents

OnDemand HP-UX Server Requirements

A minimum OnDemand Server configuration is:

  • HP 9000 Series 800 Business Server or later system, with a minimum of 128 MB memory
  • Token Ring or Ethernet connection
  • Minimum of 9 GB of DASD spread over at least two disks plus sufficient storage for documents

OnDemand Sun Solaris Server Requirements

A minimum OnDemand Server configuration is:

  • Sun Enterprise Ultra 10S Server with a minimum of 128 MB of memory
  • Token Ring or Ethernet connection
  • Minimum of 9 GB of DASD spread over at least two disks plus sufficient storage for documents

OnDemand Windows NT™ or Windows 2000 Server

A minimum OnDemand Server configuration is:

  • 200 MHz Pentium™ Pro PC with a minimum of 128 MB of RAM
  • Minimum of 9 GB of DASD spread over at least two disks plus sufficient storage for document storage

The exact server configuration depends on the volume of data being managed and the number of concurrent users.

Content Manager OnDemand Client and Administrative Client

  • An Intel Pentium 166 MHz or faster processor
  • A super-VGA and adapter with at least 800x600 resolution recommended
  • 50 MB of free hard disk space
  • 32 MB of RAM and an additional 8 MB of RAM to view PDF documents

Software Requirements

OnDemand Web Enablement Kit Software Requirements

  • For the CGI program, an HTTP server that supports the CGI protocol
  • For the Java™ servlet, a Java-enabled HTTP server with a Java application server, such as the WebSphere™ Application Server using:
    • AIX 4.3.3, or later
    • HP-UX 11.0, or later
    • Sun Solaris Version 8, or later
    • Microsoft™ Windows NT 4.0, SP5, or Windows 2000
  • Client PCs:
    • Netscape 4.06, or later

      The AFP2HTML applet lets users view the output generated by the IBM AFP2WEB Transform service offering. The AFP2WEB Transform converts AFP documents and resources into HTML files that can be displayed with the AFP2HTML applet. See your IBM representative for information about the AFP2WEB Transform service offering.

    • OnDemand Web Enablement Kit requires the ability to write cookie data on the client.

OnDemand AIX Server Requirements

  • AIX V4.3.3, or later.
  • DB2 Universal Database® Enterprise Edition V7.1, or later (included with Content Manager OnDemand), or Oracle 8i (Version 8.1.7.0).
  • If you plan to backup/restore your database or to store reports on archive media, Tivoli® Storage Manager V4.1 is required (included with Content Manager OnDemand).

Download for OS/390® Software Requirements

To enable seamless download from OS/390 systems to OnDemand servers, the following is required:

  • OS/390 V2R7, or later
  • OS/390 3-Network Communications Server with the latest PTFs
  • PSF for OS/390 V3R2, or later
  • Download for OS/390 feature of PSF for OS/390

Enhanced Indexing for the OS/390 Host Requirements

Enhanced indexing for the OS/390 host requires one of the following:

  • OS/390 V2R7, or later
  • PSF for OS/390 V3R2, or later
  • ACIF feature of PSF for OS/390

OS/390 host indexing can be processed using an enhanced version of ACIF that can be ordered without charge by customers who are entitled to OnDemand. Instructions for ordering the enhanced version of ACIF are included in the OnDemand package.

Server Printing Software Requirements

  • Infoprint® Manager for AIX V3R2 or later, or InfoPrint Manager for Windows NT and Windows 2000
  • PSF V3R2 for OS/390, or later with the AFP Upload feature, if you plan to submit print jobs from InfoPrint Manager for AIX or InfoPrint Manager NT/2000 for reprinting to PSF for OS/390

IBM Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms V7.1 uses the security and auditability features of the host hardware or software.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

  • Media packs and doc packs must be ordered separately from Program licensing to receive shipment of the appropriate program media and documentation. The Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit feature media is available through a separately orderable media pack. The PDF Indexer feature is included in the Content Manager OnDemand media pack. Customers are not authorized to install or use the Content Manager OnDemand PDF Indexer feature included in the Content Manager OnDemand package unless the customer first purchases the appropriate Proofs of Entitlement for the feature.

    Content Manager OnDemand customers who purchase the Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit feature are licensed to distribute the AFP plug-in and/or Image plug-in (provided with the ODWEK feature) to their end users, both internal and external to their organization.

Proofs of Entitlement:

  • The Concurrent User (PoE)

    The number of concurrent users is defined as the maximum number of individual users connected to the program servers at one time. You must acquire an authorization for each concurrent user. The number of concurrent users may not exceed the number authorized by the applicable Concurrent User Proof of Entitlement. Each Content Manager OnDemand Concurrent User license authorizes one user to connect to one Content Manager OnDemand Program Library Server across any of the following platforms: Windows NT, Windows 2000, AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and OS/390. Media and publications are not provided with this item.

  • The Gateway Access PoE

    The Gateway Access must be purchased for application logons to the program server that supports access by multiple individuals. One Gateway Access POE is required for every 20 individual users over a one hour period of time who will access the program server via the shared logons. For example, if shared application logons will allow up to 200 individual users to access the program server during a peak usage hour of the day, then a quantity of 10 Gateway Features would be required for appropriate use authorization. You must acquire the appropriate number of Proofs of Entitlement for Gateway Application Access supporting your defined use. Each Content Manager OnDemand Gateway Access PoE authorizes one Gateway Access authorization to connect to one Content Manager OnDemand Program Library Server across any of the following platforms: Windows NT, Windows 2000, AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and OS/390.   • The Content Manager OnDemand 1 Server Install PoE

    If you wish to install an additional Content Manager OnDemand program server on additional physical servers or nodes, you must purchase additional Proofs of Entitlement. Media and publications are not provided with this item.

  • The Content Manager OnDemand Web Enablement Kit 1 Server Install PoE

    If you wish to access additional Content Manager OnDemand Library Servers with the Web Enablement Kit, you must purchase additional Proofs of Entitlement. Media and publications are not provided with this item.

Limited Use Licenses:

  • The Limited Use DB2 Universal Database

    You may only use DB2 Universal Database components in support of your licensed use of the Content Manager OnDemand Program. For each Program Server PoE, you are entitled to install, from the media provided with the Program, the DB2 Universal Database components required to support your licensed use of the program. The DB2 Universal Database program may not be used for any other purpose.

  • The Limited Use Tivoli Storage Manager

    You may only use Tivoli Storage Manager components in association with your licensed use of the Content Manager OnDemand Program. You are entitled to install, from the media provided with the Content Manager OnDemand Program, one Tivoli Storage Manager server with Extended Device Support, and all Tivoli Storage Manager clients required to support your licensed use of the Content Manager OnDemand Program. The Tivoli Storage Manager program may not be used for any other purpose.
