to:
-
Securely manage Internet payments
-
Integrate payments into business processes and software such as online
catalogs and accounting packages
-
Manage credit card, debit card, stored value smart cards, and emerging
Internet payment methods
Components
WebSphere Payment Manager manages Internet payment transactions for
e-commerce. It includes:
-
Multipayment framework (MPF) application
-
Cassette for secure electronic transaction (SET)
-
OfflineCard cassette which enables the review of credit card transactions
information made using some other system
-
CustomOffline cassette in support of manual payment methods
-
Cassette for Cybercash CashRegister Service, Version 3 (available
separately)
-
Cassette for VisaNet (available separately)
Payment Manager Version 2.2 Delivers the Following New
Functions
-
Cassette for VisaNet
The WebSphere Payment Manager Cassette for VisaNet can expand the
merchants ability to securely manage Internet payments by allowing them
to use a widely accepted, well-known VisaNet protocol.
This cassette has been certified by Vital Processing services for
e-commerce with CVV2 capabilities using VirtualNet IP connectivity. The
certification assures that the message formats are in compliance with
VisaNet 2nd Generation Authorization/Data Capture message format D and
VirtualNet IP communication protocol requirements.
-
Enhanced user administration
-
Users can be associated with multiple merchants
WebSphere Payment Manager, Version 2.2 allows user IDs defined with
the Merchant Administrator, Supervisor, or Clerk roles to be associated
with more than one merchant.
-
Plug-in realm support
The Payment Manager provides a Java-based interface that allows
merchant software to supply the set of users that are allowed to access
the Payment Manager.
-
Single-sign-on
Using the plug-in realm feature, it is possible to code your user
interface to link directly to the Payment Manager user interface without
having to re-login when you connect to Payment Manager.
-
Cashier
The cashier is a Java client library that allows you to integrate your
merchant application with Payment Manager without having to write any
cassette-dependent order-creation code.
-
Branding
The user interface is enhanced so that you can change the appearance of
the WebSphere Payment Manager 2.2 user interface by supplying
customized files. The user interface appearance can be altered in
several ways.
-
OfflineCard cassette
The OfflineCard cassette is a simple cassette that is not connected to
any financial network, but instead, allows you to read the details of
credit card transactions you make using some other system, such as a
point of sale terminal. When you use the OfflineCard cassette, you can
view reports in Payment Manager that consolidate both your online and
offline payments.
-
CustomOffline cassette
Like the OfflineCard cassette, the CustomOffline cassette is not
connected with any financial network. However, it can be used to record
arbitrary payment information such as voucher payments, cash on delivery
payments, or payment information of any other scheme where money is not
required to flow inside Payment Manager.
-
New SampleCheckout application
A sample application that allows you to create Payment Manager orders
using any cassette. Source code is included to demonstrate techniques
for integrating storefront software with the Payment Manger in
cassette-independent fashion using the Cashier.
-
Performance enhancements
Administrators can use tuning parameters to control some of the payment
engine's internal resource allocation.
Hosting:
Payment Service Provider (PSP) is a natural extension for financial
institutions that process credit card transactions for:
-
Retail stores
-
Mail or telephone order companies
-
Small Internet-based businesses
Because you want to retain and increase your customer base, consider
becoming a PSP. Or, outsource to a third party (such as a business
partner) to operate your payment service. PSPs are also ISPs that need
to add payment services to their business customer offerings. PSPs are
positioned to easily help secure and develop merchant relationships.
They quickly can be profitable by collecting revenue from an increasing
volume of transaction fees, and through value-add services.
Benefits to PSPs
-
Straightforward, automated installation
-
Immediate connection to credit card processor gateways using SET, the
industry-standard protocol
-
Designated capabilities by user and function
-
User authentication
-
Role-based access control

-
Multipayment framework add current or emerging payments types via
cassette

-
Access to tools and utilities to remotely assist your customers
-

Add new merchant customers
-
Remove existing ones
-
View or edit sensitive customer business data stored on the system
-
Modify the system, such as adding new payment types/cassettes
-
Set the privileges or restrictions for other employees or customers
Data Integrity e-business Mandate:
Exported data model can help secure customer-critical business data
with:
-
Protected access to merchant financial information
-
Restricted merchant data access
-
Access to merchant data granted to business applications
-
Support for popular databases

-
Powerful trace utility with:
-
Multiple concurrent trace levels
-
Logical controls for trace starting/stopping
-

PSP Customers
-
Companies that do not want to manage onsite software and hardware

with credit card associations, such as Visa, MasterCard, and Europay

Businesses new to e-commerce, or that have low payment transaction
volumes
Benefits to PSP Customers
-
Browser-based, familiar cash register user interface
-
Communications between remote customers and the product through data
encryption enhances security
-
Help secure critical business data, protected access, and validation for
access control
-

-
Cancel an order (used mostly for time-sensitive pricing)
-
Ability to customize your application interface with client API library
in Java or HTTP
Advanced Payment Manager
Medium, large, and enterprise companies can process business-to-consumer
and business-to-business payments by connecting to a suitable gateway and
using SET, an industry-standard protocol. Combined with IT services
(in-house or contracted), you can integrate existing front-end or
back-office business systems by:
-
Managing sophisticated payment options demanded by ERP systems.
-
Solving payment needs for corporations with multiple distant branch
locations.
Payment processing management means that your catalog and order
management applications are integrated via APIs to perform functions such
as:
-
Securing credit authorization while the customer is still present
-
Charging the customer only after the product is shipped
-
Collecting payment when a back-ordered product is shipped at a later date
-
Crediting a customer account when an item is returned
Flexibility means that you can exploit the multipayment framework to
choose the financial institution that fits your business needs. You can
even add more payment choices when you need them.
You control system privileges for each employee:
-
Authenticate each system user
-
Specify who can change system parameters
-
Restrict database changes
-
Determine who can use sensitive business information
Because payments are critical to your business, the system does not
require going off-line when system configuration changes are made.
Communications and Serviceability
-
Current system status is readily available.
-
Event notification alerts external applications of potential problems.
-
Base support for Tivoli is included.
-
Trace utility with logic controls assists in tracking and resolving
problems.
